Coloured Carbon

I remember Trinity making a Blue carbon front shock tower for the XXX/BK2, but this is not available now. Then there is the SSD Yokomo with Sexy silver carbon.

I want RED carbon.... can it be done?? :safe:

Oscar 19-04-2006 03:40 PM

Yes it can, I remember a company (who also sold on Ebay) made red and blue carbon conversions for the Xray.

buzz 19-04-2006 05:07 PM

Oh kewl, can u still get them? I want a pimped out red carbon T2 :D :p ;)

jimmy 19-04-2006 05:14 PM

Yea I have seen sheet carbon for sale in all different colours. it was in the USA tho.

Are you sure the blue tower isn't available still ? what was preddy using on his car at kiddy ? is that something else ?

PaulRotheram 19-04-2006 05:26 PM

they're still avaliable..

Chrislong 19-04-2006 05:42 PM

Is it really, is a certain shop in the Midlands getting fed BS ? Apparently he tried for me and Helger said not available. :(

Hmmm, I would try another sauce (yeah I know it is spelt wrong, ha ha) but there's no point as the X6 will be with me soon. When I wanted the Blue tower it was before I knew about the X6.

What I really want is a sheet of carbon in RED..

jimmy 19-04-2006 05:50 PM

Ill try remember what the site was mate, they had red tho i know that.

any updates on X6 time frame ? soon ? spill the beans man!

Chrislong 19-04-2006 07:44 PM

ha ha, your keen ain't ya?
I'm very excited about the X6, I'm sure Dan is and everyone else who has pre-ordered, but right now I'm not sure of the timescale. I haven't chatted to Chazz about it, I am just keeping an eye on the forums. I think I'll still be running the BK2 at Tiverton tho.

Jimmy, when I get the car I could meet you one evening for you to get some pictures? That's if you don't mind and are able to share them with Mr.Benfield?

FLASHOVER 19-04-2006 07:55 PM

:shaking2: oooo This ought to be fun. I hate waiting......;)

I think there is a company called holeshotracing that will do that CF that you want. Let me see if I can find the link.

Chris I kown for a fact that Helger have them in stock as I picked one up from Helger on 7th April 2006 the day before the Kidderminster national.
Perhaps your shop in the midlands doesn't know the right part number and is just asking for one.

Chrislong 19-04-2006 08:45 PM

That may be the case Brian. Im not going to quiz him now.

How about the Alloy shock colars in Blue or red, I was told at the same time that I can't get them either.

PaulRotheram 19-04-2006 08:51 PM

they're also still available as far as I'm aware mate, I've seen them for sale in a few places. if i find them again I'll give you a link.

OldTimer 19-04-2006 09:21 PM

I can get the coloured carbon fibre sheet machined up, but i just need to find were to source it from ? any ideas.

Blue collars - 9 in stock, but from the US http://www.losipartshouse.com/servle...nodized/Detail

MattW 19-04-2006 09:22 PM

Might well be worth talking to Fibrelite. I think they can do coloured stuff. They did some silver flake fibreglass stuff for us for the Corally 12th car during the winter.

OldTimer 19-04-2006 09:25 PM

I willl have a word with Stephen/Martin and see what they can source ;)

Chris Doughty 20-04-2006 07:29 AM

is the stiffness any different with the coloured carbon?

http://www.geminicomposites.com/prod...vlarsheet.html

Canadian site with colored Carbon/Kevlar. There must be someone in England who offers a similar material. HOwever, if not, the shipping on a sheet should be minimal. I also suggest you contact Fiber-Lyte or Hastings Composites in England as I used to have them make parts for my gas buggies back in the day and they were great to work with.

What's really great about them is you can get them to make a part based on an exisiting part and they get it spot on. Then they send you the new and your original back. Don't have their info right at hand but you should be able to get it off the web. If not, tell me and I'll go find my last email from them.

jimmy 20-04-2006 11:53 PM

nick oliver 21-04-2006 12:30 AM

Morlock 21-04-2006 05:16 AM

I also agree with Jimmy ORANGE! looks extremely cool. I would love to do a BJ4 in Orange or a ZX5. Frankly, I am getting a bit tired of being on the wait list for my BJ4.

OldTimer 21-04-2006 07:14 AM

Checked with Fibrelyte they cannot do coloured carbon fibre, but Gemini looks interesting and yes if I get some in it will be orange. I will drop them an email :)

Northy 21-04-2006 11:34 AM

Fibrelyte used to do it back in the day, purple was the choice of colour. It used to fade in the sun though :(

Chrislong 21-04-2006 12:09 PM

Got to be red for me still.

Cockerill 23-04-2006 06:12 PM

Cockerill 24-04-2006 04:21 PM

Well...

Me and Rich were having a close race, I was following him down the straight. Went a bit wide coming onto the staraight and got caught on the curb. Still full throttle past the rostrum trying to get off the curb... lost sight of my car, hear a big bang.

Turns out I had hit the corner of the paving slab that covers the hole outside the cabin at full power.

barnyard 24-04-2006 05:17 PM

Luckily you haven't got to replace the paving slab.....

Did anyone actually check for damage to the slab?

bigred5765 24-04-2006 05:19 PM
