Trf 201 UK Release date???

Hi guys
Does anyone know when the 201 will be released in the UK by the Hobby Company?
They say it will be the end of July, but I make it the end of July now, & still no sign!
Any of you guys heard anything?

I spoke to the Hobby Company and they have them in stock now, however for a cheaper deal speak to MK Racing.

201 release date

Cheers guys
The only reason I've not had one from Mk is because I've got credit in my local model shop & he's ordered them from the Hobby company.
If it wasn't for that I'd have order one from Rc mushroom or Rc mart where I get my 511 bits from
Shouldn't be long now by the sound of it though.
It will come with the shell & wing, & will be stocking the spares with a bit of luck.

dont know why people dont want to help a UK re-seller! MK was trying to do everyone a favour by helping stock them, but everyone still seems to buy from HK.

:(

I agree Lee. However I've been waiting for 3 weeks for some ballcups for my 511 from a different model shop. If a shop is going to stock the parts then they need to have them on the shelf and then will they be supported by racers. If I had ordered from HK then I would have them delivered and on the car by now.

I spoke to DMS the other day who said that they are no longer stocking Tamiya parts due to people importing.

It's the same in France......

mattybucks 29-07-2010 01:56 PM

Another thing is if the Hobby Company have not released the 201 kit where have MK racing got them from?????

James 29-07-2010 04:21 PM

Is it even possible to buy a 511 in the UK from a shop yet? HobbyCo dont deserve any of the racers business. Is TRF separate from Tamiya model plastic co or whatever it's called? can't someone else apply to import them?

I got my 1st batch from an overseas Tamiya Distributor as Hobby Co promised supply at the end of June & then let us down (as normal)

I have had some 201 kits delivered from Hobby Co today.

Not sure why everyone is buying the 201 from HK, I know it makes sence to buy the 511 from there as the price Hobby Co quote is crazy!!!!

Prices i have seen from HK for the 201 do not work out much less than our UK price, $225 plus approx $50 shipping = $275, exchange at approx 1.45 = £189.65 Plus VAT (sorry, have to add this as law:bored:) £222.84
Our price is £234.95 including delivery, so yes we are £12.11 more expensive BUT you may also get charged a handling charge by Royal Mail/ParcelForce for goods imported........

Marc

LhOrLoGeR 29-07-2010 06:53 PM

It's a good price in MK Racing, in France it's 370€ out of delivry.....

Darren Boyle 29-07-2010 06:53 PM

As long as the clowns who continue to run Hobby Co are still in charge we will not stock Tamiya products any longer here at DMS, their service, knowledge, stock levels, price and back up all border on ridiculous (never mind just poor)

I applaud Marc for trying to get some 201 kits in early, if memory serves me right he has had them online for several weeks now and yet Hobby Co customers get thier first stock today and yesterday (with no bodies for a few weeks I might add). I will also bet that their level of spares support (and I mean key everyday items, NOT just random part numbers they order in that never break) will be very close to zero.

As for the 511, thats another story, the most prominent car at last years Euros, already this years national champion in the hands of Pidge yet zero interest from Hobby Co, very sad to see indeed......

I also feel sorry for Lee, at the end of the day his job is two-fold, primarily to race and win for himself but also to promote and hopefully aid in further sales of more Tamiya products for the company. Whilst I appreciate he races globally, being a UK driver his efforts here are almost in vain due to the lack of support this countries importer gives to the TRF range (except for Lee's loyal followers and admirers who have mainly purchased from HK I guess)......

DaveG28 29-07-2010 07:03 PM

I think he still does his job from Tamiya's point if view, look how many people more are running the car in the uk now...at one national in 2008 I was told I was the only Tamiya there when they checked them all through!

Unfortunately all those sales go abroad! I personally used Stella, I ordered one kit when it was first announced not knowing anyone here would bring them in, but wanted a 2nd for spares, was going to go through MK for that until hearing how late hobbyco were getting them...If I'd known he had another route I'd have been more patient :(

511 is a different story, I don't think Tamiya has any either in Japan, just Tamiyausa as far as I can tell!

GRIFF55 29-07-2010 07:08 PM

They're so good they have sold out!!! I still know quite a few people who are after them.
Anybody who drives one cant help being impressed. Very easy car to drive.

Any news on the rw idler mr knight???

Your right about the Hobby Company being a joke James, mines come today, but the wing won't be here till the beginning of September, & the bodyshell, the end of September, as for spares, they say they don't recognise any of the part numbers! Ordered them from Rc Mart now.
What a joke!

sime46 29-07-2010 08:29 PM

Here here!!!

Smartalec 29-07-2010 09:50 PM

I live 11 miles from Hobby Co, everyone working there is a waste of skin. When you give them part numbers they recocnize they say they will take 6 to 8 weeks to deliver .............. 4 or 5 days from Hong Kong and half the price

I'd love the shops to have spares all over the UK but I can't imagine it happening while the monkey controlling the Hobby Co is still in charge.

The 511 is the best 4wd on the market, so easy to drive fast, not used a 201 yet so can't comment.

I received the idler at 1:30, it was fitted at 1:32, the call was made at 1:40, so I am hoping Neil@RW knocked a good few out, I did suggest to send 10 to Mark first.

Rich D 29-07-2010 10:15 PM

Steve - ive not built my 201 yet. Wont be runnign it until the winter series indoors. im not familiar with the build but you obviously are. i understand the issue with the idler, but whats the issue with the layshaft ? Should i wait for the RW one before building the car or is it a luxury rather than a neccesity ?

Cheers mate

DCM 29-07-2010 10:37 PM

I haven't had an issue as yet with it, but it has the same principle as the first SV layshaft, where the pin was a snug fit, and retained by an o-ring, if you nip the o-ring, or it fails, then the pin comes out. Schumacher have changed it so the pin is a tight fit, I just dont see the need for the pin to be there at all, so the layshaft would be more like the B4/Losi/RB5 item, solid item.

Rich D 29-07-2010 10:44 PM

OK many thanks for the reply, i`ll probably wait for RW then, if something is gonna go wrong then it does when you have travelled 80 miles to race and you have every part but the one you need

Cheers

thats what my thought was!! so thought it best to sort it now. I know the idler has been a major issue, yet mine is perfect and done 3 meetings... but you know how Murphy runs his law!!
