What would you do with a third Channel?

Ok, weird thread this one, but what function would you have activate on a third channel from your transmitter during racing? The answer has to be scientifically possible and something you can do while actually racing.

Example: Button which activates marshall wake up siren on car

MK999 06-08-2007 09:09 PM

a small winch, lego style, and sprung so i could drop my transponder back behind the line for 10s or so :p

rcracer 06-08-2007 09:11 PM

Auto pilot :D

bigred5765 06-08-2007 09:47 PM

micro servo for mixture tuning nitro of course
brake bias nitro again,

Chrislong 06-08-2007 09:49 PM

I would have it as a push button on/off switch, as there's no chance I could operate it proportionally while steering and throttling, so it'd have to be operated by a thrust of the hips or somet... Id set it to drop the wing flat to get the best airflow for top speed, and so I can run a mahoooosif wing so the car is litarally forced onto the track for the corners.

Be quite funny to watch the racer on the rostrum, imagine Brian Harris's commentating "Just look how he thrusts his hips down the straight to get the best top speed". :D

I'll think of some more idea's, for a hip thrusting push button 3rd channel.

Chris

ashleyb4 06-08-2007 09:54 PM

On the new ko i think you can make oneof the buttons into channel3 but havent tried it.

josh_smaxx 06-08-2007 10:00 PM

You could use it to raise/lower and end of your choice, no idea why, to tired to think about it (long day)

ashleyb4 06-08-2007 10:32 PM

I didnt read your post right neil with a third thread i would install a big hammer or a gun to destroy oponants or i would have a self righting so if i rolled it i wouldnt reqire marshalling.

DCM 06-08-2007 10:41 PM

for electric, the wing idea is excelent, and you could set a button on a KO to a On-Hi-off-low setup, and you don't even need the new KO. So Chris can forget his pelvic thrusts!!! roflol

MikePimlott 06-08-2007 10:42 PM

Use it to drop skittles all over the track so faster racers crash and you get through WA HA HA HA :eh?:

mole2k 06-08-2007 10:45 PM

A 2 speed gearbox with the change up/down button as the 3rd channel or an adjustable wing partially mixed in with the throttle.

I cant think of any real examples that would give you a competitive advantage, without a track change the 2 speed gearbox wouldnt give you an advantage and im unsure if the extra weight of the adjustable wing would be outweighed by the extra speed gained (if any?).

MK999 06-08-2007 10:51 PM

afterburner

lazerboy 07-08-2007 12:01 AM

Over here (usa) a third channel is used to switch the car from foreward to reverse (nitro duh). Or if any of you want to use your car at night or dusk, you can hook up lights using the black and white servo leads off of an old broken servo.

sim 07-08-2007 02:22 AM

I'd use it to raise the shock towers, so the car rides lower for part of the track.

xx4 fanatic 07-08-2007 02:27 AM

I would have a weight inside the car which could move from left to right and back and forth depending on the turn or jump i was going into.

Lee Martin 07-08-2007 07:32 AM

o man!!

def a button to flip the car back onto its wheels!

kstanley7 07-08-2007 07:38 AM

to activate spinning blades in the inside of the actual wheel so the blades extend shredding the competitions wheels to bits

Operated with pelvic thrusts, that would be "da bomb"

:D

b4rs 07-08-2007 08:54 AM

mini blow torch operation, for jet powa!!!

Kopite 07-08-2007 10:45 AM

rocket launchers, oil slicks, or my favourite, a cloaking device

the latter might make it hard to race though :o

I recon a boost button, where it plugs a f**king huge capacitor in when you need it

I had a mechanical version of this in operation at Southport.

Just a shame electronics gremlins killed the 4wd racing for me as it was working well. :(

Yeh man, that setup was inspired!!

ashleyb4 07-08-2007 11:47 AM

Maybe with a third channel i would have like a gun on the front that fired a line to the car infront or the fastest car on the track then let him tow me around.

Kopite 07-08-2007 11:55 AM

maybe it could auto inflate a blow up doll attached to your car, to distract the opposition. I'd call her 'Jenny Jubblies'

:D :o

Lee Martin 07-08-2007 11:59 AM

but if u had in stan u wouldnt race it.............

ud b in ur tent all day with 'jenny'

Southwell 07-08-2007 12:03 PM

Or press it to inflate 'jenny' at the end of your race so it's ready in your tent for when you get back....

Kopite 07-08-2007 01:21 PM

what if i had a crap race though? i'd probably burst her

emzy 07-08-2007 01:26 PM

poor jenny...

....a SRIMEC....acourding to robot wars....Self RIghting MEChanism;) Yes I'm sad.

Id have some 'Ben Hur' style wheels spikes (for those younger drivers, look it up on the tinternet), so that when you went next to a competitior you press the button and they'd pop out and wreck the other cars wheels.:D

Problem with heat seekers I would have thought is that the nearest source of heat would be your motor/ESC

Would that matter though. Just sit on the line, forward (1 lap), reverse, forward (2 laps), reverse..... No one would see what you were doing.

You'd have to get a reverse ESC though.

antnee 08-08-2007 06:36 PM

either to give a massohive boost or a speaker saying 'race over' so everyone stops and you carry on :)
