This must have been on Friday, Before it was covered in gaffer tape for the beer race and later hurled at the ring of fire

mole2k 14-06-2010 06:03 PM

Yeah that was friday night late in the evening!

Some great pics there!
Love the one of my B44 submerged on the banking. That was before the final started and it still went on to complete the 6 mins after that drenching.

I tried to dry mine out last night by running it, it actually made a squeeky rusty noise

Then seized up completely  Hope that motor you submerged for me has survived Gaz, it was certainly quick enough in your hands in that 3rd leg!

Gaz_Stanton 15-06-2010 08:35 PM

Oops! That's not evidence, water is photoshopped on there honest.

Your motor will be fine as not a drop of water inside the shell. That photo was before the final and it did the race fine.
That's kinda why I went boring serious and didn't do the banking during the race. It wasn't my motor I would've drowned!

Yeah, that as well. Had to stay far enough in front so wasn't nailed on the finish line like in leg 2! :p

Ace pictures, tell us about your tools n techniques - I've not seen this sort of style in rc pics before?!

mole2k 17-06-2010 09:30 PM

The camera's a Canon 20D and most of the shots where taken on a 70-200 f4L with the wider shots on a sigma 10-20mm.

As for techniques, I just really took them like I go about taking my other action photos. In general I aim to try and get the car nicely composed (often off-center with a 2:1 crop) and have the car in some sort of context so it's not just a close up shot of a car as that generally ends up with a fairly boring shot.
