kidderminster

Just a few daft questions. Been speaking to a few of the top lads and they reckon to use ballistic tyres at kiddy. Dont mind that at all but is it true that only one set last a run? And how much slower would schumacher tyres be? I would like to ask this question to the lessor experienced person like my self who is only a cheeky F4. And what sort of wear rate on them be..

jimmy 27-03-2006 06:32 PM

Last year was my first time at kiddy tbh and i ran 2 practices, 4 heats and a final on the one set of green ballistics. They were quite literally bald and with holes in by the end and the grip had just about gone by the final.
That was in 2wd, they were very worn on the front also like..
I reckon i'll get a set for the 2 and a set for the 4, no more, take it easy early on in practice to save them and then go for it in the first few rounds and see what happens for the final..
other way is to try scrounge some from a top driver who is runnin a set a run! :)
I dint feel any real lack of grip until my final.

daz 27-03-2006 06:38 PM

cool cheers for that jimmy.. By the way i like the red hair i think il do the same to hide my grey perhaps a blue rinse

niggs98 27-03-2006 06:42 PM

ive done the last 2 meetings there in 4wd and am getting 2 runs from a set, to really stay on the pace, u can run them longer but the car tends to slide after that.

daz 27-03-2006 06:51 PM

think i will get 2 sets for each class. Dont mind that its just one set per run makes it a very expensive weekend

PaulRotheram 27-03-2006 06:52 PM

2 runs? i dont think ill be gonig to kiddy any time soon with little money i have :D

OldTimer 27-03-2006 07:44 PM

I was up there when niggs98 was there, it was very wet, so i used pink minipins which weared well and still looked ok, but for the last round and finals i put some greens on, and there was so much more grip.

A lot depends on the track layout, if they use a lot of the tarmac it just rips the tyres to bits. It depends on how serious you are, to be honest three sets would be ideal, if i had got in that was what i intended to use at the 4wd national, i am no F1 but i want to do ok, and i don't want to be thinking after the meeting, if i had just used another set i could of been ?.

Set 1 - Practise and Round 1
Set 2 - Round 2 & 3
Set 3 - Round 4 & Finals

jimmy 27-03-2006 07:57 PM

Its pushing it running 1 set, I think 2 sets will be ideal if you arent too serious, they do still grip when they are well worn from my experience, just loose the edge tho i guess..
loadsa grip tho.
I'll be running 1 set just because i am uber cheapo... Cheers Daz btw! mi hair is proper vivid and visually offensive now, I like it, plus vicky can spot me in a crowd.

PaulRotheram 27-03-2006 08:47 PM

jimmy, you need a parental advisory sticker for your hair!!

daz 28-03-2006 04:28 PM

cheers for the advice guys !!!!

Stu 28-03-2006 08:58 PM

There will be alot of drivers using one set per run if it's dry.
Depending how cheeky you are you can often do a bit of scrounging of part-worns.
You may need to keep your supplier in tins of beer for the weekend, that's cheaper than the treads.

jimmy 06-04-2006 04:55 PM

wise advice! :drunken: Beer coats!

Stu 06-04-2006 04:55 PM

First national last 'summer' it snowed on friday aftenoon.
If you can get past the stigma of being a pikie (not sure on the spelling) caravans rule.

Mrs oOple 06-04-2006 05:43 PM

I can't wait to test out our new tent for warmth... along with the three sleeping bags and two double duvets that we are taking! And of course the beer coats (or vodka/bacardi breezer coats as the case may be).

Looking forward to my first national, and being a featured RRCI / oOple driver.
Just ask Jimmy for my set-up.

daz 06-04-2006 06:05 PM

is there any pubs nearby, as in staggering distence????

Northy 06-04-2006 06:08 PM

When you getting there Jimmy? We're not leaving here till 5pm tomorrow! :(
ETA at Kiddy 8.30pm! By that time I'll need a drinking partner! :D

jimmy 06-04-2006 06:09 PM

All being well setting off quite early, 1/2pm but with the way things usually go with us could be much later! :D

Northy 06-04-2006 06:12 PM

So who fancies a beer when Julie and me get there?
Its a given that Stu and Dammo will.... :puker:

Stu 06-04-2006 06:19 PM

Aye.
We'll be pitched behind the hedge on the edge of the football pitch, overflow caravan site.
The pub is about 15-20 mins walk, but we'll be bringing our own.

Oh yeah G, whats this about you being a very slow driver, boxed in traffic or something?

jimmy 06-04-2006 06:22 PM

Your own pub ? blimey, that IS a big caravan int it!

daz 06-04-2006 06:23 PM

Stu 06-04-2006 06:25 PM

Will you still be in "ya ma's van" when we get there at 8.30 ish? :D

Yeah, what a pussy I am, getting boxed in traffic doing over 85 on soaking wet roads.... I'll go spank myself now ma'am! :o :elephant:

Cockerill 06-04-2006 06:31 PM

are you camping Graham?

WHITTLER555 06-04-2006 06:32 PM

Did someone say John Smiths!!??

Yes the Whittle/Evans bar will be open, although I probably won't be there till its going dark and will need a couple of beers just to remember how to put the awning up so the pub can open!!

G, you will notice the Evans/Whittle clan have an exclusion zone around us this year, I am still not popular for the F3,4,5 meeting in Worcester in 2001?:o

Anyone for a bit of FAT HARRY WHITE!!

MMMMMMM BABY!!:D

Stu 06-04-2006 06:33 PM

We'll be about somewhere.
Our vans will be seperated from the main throng a bit and it'll be a bit anti-social to sit in watching telly with the wives all evening.

Northy 06-04-2006 06:38 PM

Yeah camping :o

What happened in 2001?

Any plans for Saturday night? It's mi Julie's birthday on Sunday! She's well happy

Random smillie... :tiesto:

Stu 06-04-2006 06:40 PM

We had said we'd go to the pub saturday night for a meal, sounds a like a good reason to do so now.
