As you can see in the shot the chassis has been milled out so the servo wire runs under the cells:

looks good!

So here is the latest pic, Scott (Rebel RC) has got a anodizing machine and its gone orange! I will get this together shortly and give it another run, so far it goes pretty well on the high grip, just need to get some better set ups/weight distribution on the car! We have had some interest from the US about the car but have not drawn it in CAD yet, who knows if it will be released as a kit? It will prob be too expensive but we shall see.....

Looks pretty cool. I love the orange anodizing.

Wow that looks really good Mark. Is this going to be put into production ?

Carl

Aran 30-04-2010 09:52 PM

hi mark,

nice looking logo you have there

just wondering if the chassis is the same length as the standard b4 chassis?

if not how much longer is it?

thanks

tymill 01-05-2010 01:29 AM

I'm liking the anodised chassis.... how about going Gold as an homage to the car's '84 roots?

Cheers,
Ty

MHeadling 01-05-2010 09:11 AM

Thanks for all the interest in the car guys!

Just to answer a few of your questions:

It's exactly the same wheel base as a STD B4

Yes Tymill gold would be cool! We can anodise it any color you want!! Or maybe supply it clean ali and you get it done perhaps? Who knows it's early days!

Its hand machines at the moment and we are not sure to put it into production? If any of you know how much something like this costs to CAD and CNC machine then please let me know.

Big thanks to Aran for the design work on the SMR decals you can see on the car and Dave at A Signs for the decals and T-shirts!

Basically you just bolt your B4 front and rear ends on the chassis, fit a low profile servo and saddle packs and your good to go!

The shell you can see Scott (Rebel Rc) made from a pop bottle.

I'll let you know some news if we can work out production costs etc!

Car looks awesome, but I don't think DMR Bikes would be too happy

P.M sent, im very interested in possibly buying one of these. All depends on price of course.

Jamie........

MHeadling 01-05-2010 10:56 AM

Well spotted on the graphics front!! We may have to design a new logo!!

When I can find out cost etc I'll let everyone know!

yeah if you started to sell them dmr might get little upset, might be able to do something about that

MHeadling 01-05-2010 11:45 AM

Cheers Aran, I'll be in touch about a new logo, I dont want to upset DMR!!

I just saw the logo on my bike and thought that will do for the petit as we were pushed for time, something a bit flashier will be on the horizon!!

I think I need to get some cars made first before I worry about stickers! :D

Looking ACE Mark....Just hitting F5 all the time now :D

BloodClod 01-05-2010 05:06 PM

Very sweet car!

How does it run compared to a standard B4?

Can't believe that was machined by hand - simply amazing! How long does the machining take per chassis?

B&H Racing 01-05-2010 05:49 PM

Your car does look good Scott/Mark :D

And up against it, don`t it look like the X6 ate all the pies !!! :woot:

MHeadling 03-05-2010 07:23 PM

A couple of pics of Scotts car, its been tango'd!!

How does this chassis change the performance of the car?

Jon

MHeadling 04-05-2010 08:52 AM

To be honest I found the car great on high traction surfaces, it jumps well and I found it nice and easy to drive, we havent done alot of testing with the car so have just been using B4 set ups on it so far.

We have only ran the car the the Petit RC (carpet), Eden Park (Astro), Will Johnson ran it at Worksop and Spud 31 ran it at Stofold so its early days!

When I get some chassis made up it would be good to get some set up work done on different surfaces etc.

Aran 04-05-2010 01:45 PM

does the chassis just fit saddles? or can it be adapted for sticks? :P

MHeadling 04-05-2010 02:25 PM

Hey Aran, You would be hard pushed to fit a stick pack in it!

It was designed around saddle packs. There is just enough room for the electrics let alone a stick pack battery!

Aran 04-05-2010 03:02 PM

yeah i thought that, what might be an idea then is to have a low profile servo but mount it up right, there might be a shell issue but there could a more forward cab shell.

im planning on trying to get all the weight in the centre on my standard b4 chassis, just waiting to get a low profile servo. saw a guy do it to a ansmann mad rat. see how it goes

thanks

Thomas P 04-05-2010 03:26 PM

Wow, Scotts car looks real good!! cant wait to get one of thoose :)

Sk8er_alex 22-05-2010 09:38 PM

Very unique car looks strong have you got the final shell design yet

Thomas P 23-05-2010 06:00 AM

Any updates Mark? :)

MHeadling 23-05-2010 09:48 AM

My proto chassis is being drawn in CAD at the moment, this should be done next week and then I can e-mail this drawing out to get some prices for machining some chassis.

As for the shell it will be the same as what's in the pictures!

I'll PM all the interested people once I have a price worked out, it will be a limited run if cars, 10-15 max. It's going to be an exlusive club owning one!!!

Thomas P 26-09-2010 02:46 PM

Sweden calling Mark, any updates on the SMR4 ?

MHeadling 26-09-2010 03:16 PM

Hi Guys, sorry I have not updated this post in a while, been busy with other things!

No news on the car really, my Cad guy is taking ages and the kick up on the chassis will cost alot to machine etc so it seems like this project will be shelved I'm afraid!

Thanks for all the interest in the car!
