Which Kipor to buy .... ?????
 

Well i think im going to go the geny route but would like to know which model to go for.

Iv seen the 980, 1000 and 1300 models which relate to the power output in watts. Which is the most popular jobbie?

From what i understand, how many chargers etc can you run off one. I hear that some owners have at least 3 power supplies running with around 5 chargers etc. Will the 980 model cope with this surge.

Any advice people can give me on the kipor range is greatly appreciated.

none...as far as im aware honda have a court order ruling because the kipor ones were a blatant copy of their gennies,i seem to recall that kipor genies were being confiscated on sight and crushed,i will have a look and see where i read it,it was a bit ago

Theres still loads available to be honest. You are right though about the crushed jobbies.... I'll just make sure that if a really cheap one becomes available thats its not in 50 pieces lol :D

all im saying is that if you have one of the illegal ones you can have it taken from you with no warning,no compo and your down a few hundred quid so just be aware what your buying.and what you see people selling.

think thats more the shop selling them rather than people using them

Tbh though i dont think that Honda Uk would actually challenge an operator of a Kipor geny asking then to politely hand it over as its identical to one of theres lol.... They would only concentrate on xxx such a companies stock if they were still manufacturing them and selling them on clearly disregarding Hondas lawsuit. This happens all the time with almost every thinkable item thats in use all over the world. They would only go after the big fish as they say :cool:

while i agree that honda would be targetting the main importers/sellers etc,they want everyone of those kipor gennies that have gotten honda copied parts in,trashed.

honda lost a lot of money over this in sales as the kipor ones were a lot cheaper than the honda ones,now honda has the injuctions ,you try to buy one of the illegal ones and you could land in very hot water..it wouldnt take honda a long time to search forums and google as we do to see where they are being sold and bought,now i know its very unlikey you would get done,but isnt that what car tax dodgers say?

the importers had all the kipor ones confiscated and crushed..

currently running the older red one 1300 Tc and it runs ma caravan and all our charging stuff nps
980's and 1000 ti all do the job if its just a few of you go for the 1000ti Steven pierce bought one of me and runs a hole crew of them.and is nice and smooth if Ur going to run a big van and loads of stuff get a 2000tc/ti version the 3000tc/ti or like rocky horse poo at the mo
losixxx has a 3000ti for sale if you need something big snatch it up even i cant get them at the mo

if there still being sold on ebay by dealers then imho the people using them have very little to worry about!

How often would i have to fill a Kipor 980 with 2 chargers, soldering iron (twice a day) , 1 discharger a day?

read the link i posted,its those models that use hondas patented noise cancelling that are illegal,i think its just the red cased models they were after (KGE1000tsi, KGE1300tc, KGE1300tsc, KGE2000tc, KGE2000ti, KGE3000tc and KGE3000ti models)

there have been loads of them crushed,have a look on google altho its old news now as this was last year when they got the injuction.

thats why some models nigh on impossible to get hold of because

1.sellers who have them are scared to sell them
2. those that have them dont want to sell them as they wont be able to get another
3.they are very few and far between as so many have been destroyed.

to try and justify yours is legal just because you own one is quite funny actually

let me put it this way,my sister in law works for a honda dealership about 20 miles away..you think if i told her you were selling one of the illegal kipor gennies her boss would turn a blind eye? (altho it makes no difference to me and im not a snitch :) )

all im saying is be careful where you buy from and who you sell to..ignorance of the law doesnt mean you get off if caught.

i know a lad at our club was trying to buy a big 3kw kipor one and the seller on ebay told him that he had his stock confiscated(he was a big dealer of them apparently)

i couldnt give 2 hoots wether you have 5 of them,but i dont like to see people waste money if you got caught. :(

not sure lee but in the eyes of the law its illegal..so it gets crushed,its not hondas concern wether you lose money or not.

i suspect you would have to then seek compo with kipor knowing they were selling something that wasnt theres to sell.

from what i could gather,kipor were making the gennies for honda,then when the contract ran out,kipor decided to rebadge the gennies and sell as their own including the patented systems,hence why honda got the injuction,this is only what i read on the net so read as you will..

the good thing about kipor is that they are damn good gennies(understandable if they are hondas rebadged) and half the price of a honda equivalent !

DAVE, i havent for a second tried to justify mine is legal were did you get that from!????, just that from what ive read it looks like honda have confiscated suppliers gennys and not personnel ones!, i think your scaremongering a little over the top!

dave don't accuse me of things you obviously havent got a clue about, if you bothered to check my advert was put up before this thread was started! hense i was unaware of issues surrounding certain kipor models.

Genny's that were bought before this came out are fine and any new Genny sold after that court order date is a illegal sale, all Genny sold and in used now are fine even for resale, as they were sold legally checked this with my supplier,no worries buying second hand units, there not going to get snatched and crushed, so buy in confidence if Ur UN sure ring a supplier like kipor UK as i just did, it's suppliers that had theres snatch seized and crushed, and kipor had to compensate them for this buy the way

yes im am, but show me were i says its 100% ok to use! i don't. i use a kipor and will happily continue doing so, safe in the knowledge that theres not a cat in hell's chance a company like honda would spend the time or effort visiting campsites/festivals/racemeets looking for the odd kipor they can crush. as ive said, crushing the suppliers units but not individuals is all ''i'' can see happening!

but you can be misleading as carl has pointed out! posting something without the full facts isnt helpfull.

well as carl has pointed out,as long as you dont buy a new one you should be ok.

and when you sell something,your not supposed to say its legal..your supposed to say if its not :)..its an assumption that anything sold is ok to use.

i sell and retail kipor gennys, they are still legal to sell, new as long as they were purchaced before court order date, second hand units are not illeagle as they were sold before court action, so are ok and still leagal to sell and use,and kipor will fax writen proof to anyone if you ask them,the yellow ones are still available its the red ones that honda had a slapped ass about

a 980 will run 3-4 chargers all day and all night on a tank of fuel mate,
fill it up friday run all day saturday and run ur lights chargers dischargers at night and ull have to fill it about dinner next day,make sure u use the smart throttle allways

yes thought it was the red ones carl.

so a shop can sell the gennies as long as the shop bought the stock before the court date,but they cannot import any more into the country right?

mine is a red 2000tc campmate, bought a month ago from a dealer, been a demo model, so i bought it second hand, he had loads of demo models (classes as used/second hand ;) ) and was Ј170 in as new condition
runs all my gear inc microwave in caravan!!

yeh i still have 1 red 980 instock and thats why i rang kipor uk to ask if im ok to resell it they said fine as i bought it before the court order, the yellows ones are no problem at all,
southwell the red 980s are £135 in postage or delivery, the better 1000ti yellow ones are £198 in postage or delivery i have non instock but i can order and have deliverd to ur house inside 3 days

are you sure about the yellow ones carl as the 2 links quote ti models?

honda said it was misleading people into think they were selling and buying a rebadged honda gennerator, thats why they changed colour, but in court used that kipor had copied the super quiet system of them which honda had patented,the court upheld the ruling and said it only applied to the red one. yellow ti version are fine, and any red unit new or used sold buy the importers before the court date are fine for relsale, its just the importers kipor uk that cant sell the red ones any more,

certain models depends on the exhaust would you believe
china and Taiwan have stock still and its models being imported from there that there after as there being sold after court order date, kipor hate me rang them 4 times already lol

at least the models i use 2000ti is on the band list so must be a good un:D
