All Day Meeting 2nd May 2010
Hi,
We are currently in the process of planning an all day meeting for the first bank holiday in May. I know it clashes with EPR, but we've got to get on and run an all day meeting. We have a few things to sort out first, but who is interested in this? We'll have limited Gazebo pit space. Looking at a no later than 16:00 finish Pending numbers a raffle too. |
Yep...., get my vote. the club is indeed in need of an all day well, day....
|
Good.
Day....?? |
Yes, I'm in Mike, (both Classes??)

I'll prob only do one class as it'll be Steve and myself running the meeting. Julian is away that weekend. I imagine I'd run the Cougar SV (pending spares) Need to get my mesh probs sorted on the Cat (spolied my day yesterday).. |
Both classes would depend on numbers (more than 2 heats in each class), but i may do alternate qualifying rounds and then both finals.
|
I know me and Cameron are away that weekend off to Herts for a two day nitro event, sorry guys.
Sunday the 9th May is good |

I suppose you've got a busy season coming up now? |
Following last weekends meeting and asking the members this is a go. We'll post finer details later this week.
Shame Cammers and Tony will be deserting us! ;) |
Ace, I'm in, 4wd please.
How many rounds and finals? 4 rounds 3 finals should be easily doable! |
Cool, cheers Simon. Any of the other RC Lazy crew coming ;)
If people haven't been to TORCH before please send me their details such as freq, class, PT and F rating etc. |
I'm in too please. 2wd and 4wd if poss
|
I hope you have a good meeting and that the weather is fine.
The date clashes with the first round of the Truggy Nats which is a two day event. Will this be the first round of a championship series? |
Can't believe you won't be there wylie, i'll have no competition for last place :)
|
Count me in:thumbsup:
4WD for me please.:D |
I thought I would give you a chance for last place Dibble, by not turning up .
It's OK you wont be last Crazy L has booked in  |

Mike / Steve,
Will barbecues be allowed at the track? (disposable type) I was thinking of doing some hotdogs or burgers for lunchtime. Neil |

Is anyone interested in SC racing as we "may" do 2WD, 4WD and SC, just a thought. I'm only racing 4WD or my SV if it turns up. |
Ok we will cater for SC Trucks if there are enough.
So the all day meeting will cater for 2WD, 4WD & truck. |
BBQ will be allowed, but be mindful of others.
We will be doing prizes for 1st place in each final. Pm me or steveb for further questions. Pass the word round. |

Is there going to be an allocated lunch break or just in between races?
Thanks |
I guess it would depend on the number of heats, rounds and finals we need to fit in.
Mike, did you say you wanted it over by 4pm. If so what is the start time? |
Steve and I will be at the track from about 08:30, booking in to be finished by 09:30 and practice till 09:50
Racing starting at 10am is what I was thinking. Neeed to see if Mr B the chairman agrees. I'll be getting all the details together later for Jimmy to do a post in the news / events section :) We will also prob be doing round by round to level the field a bit more for the newer guys who don't know the track. PM SteveB for questions too |
Having spoke to our chairman last night the qualifying format (FTD/RBR) will be decided on the day by the drivers at race breifing.
Steve is also looking for someone to challenge is record. |
Hmm, that reminds me, I must clean and straighten my barbie after the Taly fire shenanigans...
Sounds good, any idea of number of rounds / finals yet? 4 quallies and 2 leg finals please! |

So if we are going from 10:00 til 16:00 then we should be aiming at 6 rounds and 2 leg finals.............? Whats the thought on this ? |

I have no idea what the turnout may be. I'm not expecting massive numbers due to EPR Regional taking place. If it wasn't on the same weekend I think we could have expected DC, Nathan and maybe the Williams crew. I have asked DMS etc. if they know anyone interested in this. For our potential next one I'll be arranging some A5 flyers to give out to racers in the weeks before. I am in the process of writing some text for Jimmy to post in the news section I am anticipaiting having 6 cars in the heats for 2WD and 4WD and if we have any trucks we'll go from there. |

Most club's meetings are approx one race every 45-60 minutes, except perhaps evening meetings which are a little quicker. I think most clubs do all day meetings as it's more relaxed, gives more time for working on cars, and also allows more track time - open track for practice when there's no heats on is ideal. I guess it's all about TORCH growing into a 'normal' club and working in similar ways to 99% of other clubs! I think this first all day meeting is an excellent way of organically allowing TORCH to change. |
Weather is looking pretty good

You are right Simon TORCH is unique in getting a lot of racing done in a short space of time. At bigger meetings and regionals it is very frustrating being sat around for so long for your next race. It is one of the reasons I like TORCH so much is that we get the racing done and not sat around for no reason and they are very good at getting the racing sorted quickly. I go racing to race, not sit around. Lets hope we can all come to an agreement here but I am not travelling all that way to spend more time at the track but only do the same amount of racing. |
I can't say how many rounds we are doing until we know what the numbers are going to be.
If 15 people turn up then it'll be x number of rounds however if 40 people turn it of course is going to be less. We'll just have to wait and see. Also got to take into account that people will need time to charge batteries, particularly racers still running NIMHs |
I can see we don't see eye to eye on this Lee!
Personally I like plenty of time to fix, change, adjust, fettle, charge, the car, and plenty of time to eat, chat, watch other racing etc. It was amusing, we were at Taly, and had a time table with an hour and a half between each run, and we were saying how nice it was! Loads of time to fix the car, strip it down, change something, get it sorted before the next run, it was ace! I think it's down to a mindset where you either go racing to get track time, or you go racing for the whole experience, and that includes a lot of time working on the cars. |
From my experience.. a mix of both is nice.. having 3 mins between your own heats is bit crazy.. but having 25-30 mins is nice.. charge tweak clean chat ect.. Prefer to have a mixed day. Not rushing round like a loon.. but not sitting on your hands for hours.. getting a mix is the ideal way. I personally prefer a day at the track, and at a comfortable pace... not 4 hrs... and cant even stand still until you marshalling or racing again.. thats my view.. plus you dont get much if any time to change tweak-Fix things if broken too...
I MAY be down sunday not sure.. depends on my work load! |

People will need time to do set-up changes and of course eat.. Please don't let the number of rounds be the issue here. I am sure there will be enough racing to meeting everyones needs! |

Exactly, we'll be fine and dandy. |
