Why buggies only in UK races?
Why is it that I never see any trucks at large races held in the UK, its either 2WD or 4WD.
|
They died out a number of years ago, nitro trucks are fairly popular though at nitro meetings ive attended.
|
Wow, that unfortunate. Seems like another class would be nice to race.
|
there was a brca national truck class, i remember reading Doddy won it
|
think one of the last truck nationals had entry of 34, you get the odd 3 or 4 racing at BCL'S but thats about it,
|
A few guys up n.west / n.east tried to kick something off but it didn't really happen and some clubs didn't allow them or made it difficult. Personally I though it (T4) was a bit of a laugh to rag round a track when I had a go of one, and if it gets more people into electric off road that would be great - but I don't really like them myself.
|
any one remeber the tripple at hampshire that Adam cleared with his truck? wasnt he the only guy to do it??
the truck racing thing was tested at a few WRCA rounds indoors , and well the Academy truck vs a t4 was well , crap i let simon " pit wrecking" geen kill my one jumping a bmw m5 we had to fit a t4 diff so it could take a reedy 10x1 Dougan edition and glue the servo saver in place with a tone of washers to get tension on the spring so you could steer |
I've got 1
see it here along with my RC18T not mcuh cop the video's but you get the idea. I've a few more to uplaod when time permits T4 has Mamba esc & 7700k motor & Lipo RC18 has Mamba esc & 8000k motor & Lipo RC18 did a 16.136 sec on the track you see. No idea on the T4 as I didn't swap the PT over Hope to run the T4 @ Catherine Cookson Classic this weekend |
Some fools race touring cars... crazy!

Trucks would bring in new racers as they are easier to drive compared to buggies.

Nothing broke! Although the chassis snapped a couple of meetings later when i landed too hard on the paving, it must have landed from 7 feet :D The front end ended up in a hedge!
|
I have a truck I'd love to race somewhere...... :(
G |
:) Anyone produce a 4WD truck, I'm told there used to be a couple but they're no longer in production. One member at our club races a 2WD truck against our buggies. It rides the bumps really well but spins out evey other corner with the motor in the arse end and only 2WD.
If I could get a new 4WD, other than the crappy looking Himoto things I've seen, I'd buy one.:) |
Trucks got me into racing, first proper racer i go was the XXT. Shame that its died off cause it was reet laugh but then you really wanna jump big jumps with them which a lot of tracks dont seem to have..
I'll be breakin it out at southport on sunday i think if anyones down.. |
Truck class is only really popular over here in the US, Americans love thier trucks. Trucks are not a Ifmar class so thats another reason why they are not popular globally. Its not really a bad thing though. When trucks became popular in the US, it killed off the 4wd class. Now that 4wd is slowly gaining popularity again, perhaps the 2wd class will get killed off this time?

you could convert an academy RT4GP PROSPEC truck to electric...www.ultimatehobbies.com has them for $100 us dollars

Aren't the Himoto ones all nitro? If you want a 4wd nitro truck check out the HPI MT2. |
Yokomo used to make one I think, based on the BC chassis.
|
I've got an RS4MT. It's why I returned to model cars.
They are ace trucks. Piss weak slippers though. The upgrade RS4MT shocks are the best shocks ever created. Super smooth and no leakages. Elliott. |

as mentioned before elsewhere on the forum I would love there to still be a truck class here in the UK. When I see the american mags I get so envious cause it looks so much fun.
I race at Bury metro where I know a few lads have trucks but dont appear very often. Might get myself a cheap 2nd hand truck of E-Bay and try to persuade them to dust off their trucks for a few club meetings. You never know but if their was 6- 10 of us they might let us run a little mini championship alongside the NW Regionals like which im told happened a few years ago Chris |
Yeh, if it got support then im sure it'd run. I bought one and had a play at Southport a few times and at Bury, Batley didn't like me taking it :(
I think running them at regionals isn't a great idea, there is the potential of diluting the classes. They should be for club level and perhaps a way of introducing new racers. |
Bring yours down on sunday Chris, i'll have me XXT in tow. Those new jumps at Bury are callin out!!!
Maybe all the truck owners should have a one off bash somewere like CML or similar track with a bunch of jumps...! |
ill be there truck and all sounds ace
|
Hi Craig,
Sorry but I sold mine, I got fed up of trying to find somewhere for the wide bugger to be kept at home, and the £££ notes were calling out. |
