Okay Dan, So this region is new to me, a few questions:-

With mid-West they have to book in before the Wednesday or they get charged £2 go in the bottom heat (not a seeded heat) and don’t get practise. Can you book in on the day and is it free practise from 10:00 to 11:00?

If I race two classes what is the turnaround in time for rounds, will there be time to fix or make setup changes?

Tony

Hi Tony

You can book in on the day for Northwest Regionals, without penalty charge and you will be placed in a heat that reflects your ability.

Obviously, running two classes limits the amount of time you have between races and the time between round is dependent upon the number of entrants, but I would expect there would be at least 40 minutes between races....

I have no idea about the practice arrangements for the day however.

tony12795 07-04-2010 01:23 PM

Thanks.. :-)

DanW 07-04-2010 06:40 PM

Tony,

As Chris says you can book-in on the day and will be sorted in to an appropiate heat.

With regard timings, Last year I think we had 8 heats in qualifying that sorted down to 5 finals of 2WD and 2 finals of 4WD. I expect we might get a few more this year, hopefully in 4wd to help spread the day out. Work on a guidline of a minimum of an hour per round. Racing both classes is possible, it will make it a busy day for you... but worst case is you might end up missing a round if you have a big breakage to sort out.

Obviously all things are weather dependant and a bit sunshine helps turnout no end!

super__dan 07-04-2010 07:59 PM

Is there a non regional heat to race in? Just turn up on the day?

gerbil 07-04-2010 08:01 PM

OMG What a Day! They are probably still racing.

Well done to Eric for keeping us all in check.

Stu 11-04-2010 08:15 PM

Thanks to everyone who kept it up taday.
The 2wd A final finshed at 8.00.
I expected a busy day - but 13 heats, WTF, not had that since 1994!

I think we need to open booking in a 8am at Bury.

phil c 11-04-2010 08:28 PM

Had a great day today ,And my best result at a reginal ever but it's been a very long day, were still traveling home as I write this and will Not be home till gone ten !so agree with stu about 8am booking in.bring on the next race 

DanW 11-04-2010 08:38 PM

Thank you to every one who turned up, we had no idea so many people would come.

Last year we ran 2 regionals, with 7 to 8 heats of drivers. We were expecting a "few" more this year and were well placed for running 9 or 10 heats... but 13 heats was just incredible.

Lots of new faces to NW so unfortunately a lot of people who didn't exist on the database, so lots of work for Eric booking in.

Thanks to Eric for running a very tight ship all day and good to have him back after a long break.

Sorry it was such a late finsh... but luckily we had the nice weather for it .

Hopefully the good turnouts will continue for the rest of the year.

bigred5765 11-04-2010 08:40 PM

what a awesome day, new 2wd car which was just fantastic 2nd in the a final,:)
big well done to everyone that stuck it out and to all at southport long long day but so worth it,track was fantastic guys,

WHITTLER555 11-04-2010 09:21 PM

I don't think I have raced at a regional with well over 100 entries?

Track layout was good today because it was different to the norm.

The Durango was on it from first practice so I was well chuffed with TQ in the A final, shame I could not convert it but there were some very quick cars there today.

Thanks to all involved with running the meeting, it was a big ask with so many drivers there.

cwp 12-04-2010 06:02 AM

A good days racing with a massive turn out.:woot:

Kecky 12-04-2010 06:53 AM

jameswilkinson7 12-04-2010 09:00 AM

Great day. Really enjoyed it. I agree that booking in needs to be sooner if were going to keep getting those numbers!

andys 12-04-2010 09:06 AM

I'm one of the Southport Newbies. Never raced there before.
Had a super day with a decent result all things considered.
Took the Pred out for the last 4wd heat and the final and it was superb. Strolled on to comfortably win the 4wd B, should have made the A, but maybe next time !

Track was superb, many thanks to the organisers for putting on a great event.

tony12795 12-04-2010 09:07 AM

Me too, I qualified 10th in both 2wd 'D' and 4wd 'C' so running a final was no brainer, came 2nd and 5th .

Fantastic day, well worth it and a brilliant track.

Next time its sunny I'm gonna get some sun cream, after all day Sat and Sun outside I'm a bit red to say the least. Thanks to Andy Pat' for the loan of the hat, even if I did have to wear it backwards like some early 90's throwback .

banksy 14-04-2010 11:26 AM
