stegger 12-02-2010 09:22 PM

It say's the reciever is small, but how small ? anybody know the dimensions ?

sly 12-02-2010 09:29 PM

scale it off the sockets

DCM 12-02-2010 10:43 PM

the receiver is about the size of the SR3000 Spektrum receiver, I understand CML will be bringing out 2.4GHz in both budget and race orientated, using wheel and sticks, from the same manufacturer, priced competitively. My kids have been using the wheel version, and it is really good, trying out the stick one this weekend, although the sticks needed chopping down.

ashleyb4 12-02-2010 10:48 PM

Core R/C you are the best company in the worls this i majorly untapped market. Cheap stick 2.4ghz radio's.

Makes you wonder how the other companies makes theirs so expensive ;)

DCM 16-02-2010 11:58 AM

My son has been using the wheel version of it which CML will be bringing out very soon, in his saloon and it has worked fine, there is a little thing which is good, if you switch on to the wrong model memory, the radio won't connect with the wrong receiver for that model.

MatJohnson 16-02-2010 12:10 PM

Be interesting to know if it feels cheap or if it has a decent weight to it. Think someone needs to do a review on it :)

DCM 16-02-2010 12:15 PM

It feels like a KO, so cheap and plasticky, but then, when you are getting 15 model memory, 3 channels and lots of adjustment, what do you expect?

KRob 16-02-2010 01:10 PM

The Core stick TX is quite nice actually. Feels better made than a KO...

It's not a very big unit, smaller than all the other computer transmitters.
Aerial is removable so less damage when transporting which is good.
The screen is also quite small but the menu is functional and not difficult to navigate, although the one tone beep you get got on my nerves!

Not looked much at the rx but seems to be about the same size as a standard Spektrum.

jim76 16-02-2010 01:19 PM

i'm hoping it's nice and thin like the old KO radios. I hate the fat Futaba transmitters!

I'll wait to hold one trackside before i take the plunge.

But asuming the unit is pretty reliable i think they will sell buckets of these.

KRob 16-02-2010 01:28 PM

Not as thin as a KO, but nearer to that than a Futaba or Sanwa.
The sticks are a bit longer too.

ongbenghui 16-02-2010 01:43 PM

China made, factory in guangzhou. Online price is around 52 GBP.

Check out...

http://www.chiyuan.net/prodetail.php?id=155&b=2

Even the domestic (china) review is not that good.

Personally speaking, i think Sanwa/Airtronics Super Exzes is still the best stick radio.
Hope they will come out with a real 2.4g version.

peetbee 16-02-2010 05:53 PM

Hmm, chances of it working with spektrum receivers?

dom-dogger 16-02-2010 06:05 PM

i just have been in local model store and they had one of these in, so i got out and, it looks quite nice and feels just as good. for the price the spec is great!

bigred5765 16-02-2010 06:34 PM

core rc stuff is usually good stuff, but anything that is ('maximum best' performance and reliability.)has to be worth a try

poopers 16-02-2010 06:40 PM

I’m curious as to how strong the stick tension is, and if you can adjust it. The one problem I have with my Futaba is the tension is too weak and there’s no decent way to adjust it.

qatmix 16-02-2010 06:40 PM

looks like a bargain.. if I hadn't recently upgraded to an esprit 3 (40meg), I'd consider one.

dibble34 17-02-2010 04:40 PM

I have been thinking about going back to sticks, would like to hear from someone who has tested this set ;)

Rocking Donkey 18-02-2010 10:49 PM

This does look interesting. I'm not sure where I stand on Schumacher rebranding Chinese products as their own, like the Speed Passion esc's, but it does look like great value compared to everything else out there and I do like the piece of mind that comes from buying from a company with a UK presence. I have been looking at getting a new Tx but didn't fancy spending the £300 odd for a new Futaba or KO.

will be interesting to hear more from actual owner. A lot of US/UK company are rebranding asian products. this is reality. And a lot of Futaba products were also made in Malaysia and Taiwan. But, with Japanese QC, I don't have problem with it. Speed Passion were rebranding HobbyWing product. HobbyWing is pretty good stuff, has good review in China, however, they are expensive by the domestic (china) market.

Seriously... can't say much about chiyuan. As i said, domestic (china) review for Chiyuan stuff is not that good. Will love to see if the "Schumacher Core" version is any good.

In my humble opinion. There is a diff with "Rebranding, Marketing" vs Contract Manufacturing.

Personally, i wouldn't buy any of the "Core" products.

budfish 19-02-2010 06:31 PM

Core 2.4 ghz

I bought one of these on the way home from Je spares £80 feels good a bit light weight but it had plenty of functions I like the digital trims. Going to fit it tonight and I'll be racing it this weekend at bury. I'll post on here what I think of it but Ive only been racing for 12 months so might not be to indepth of a write up. Stick tension is good almost stiff. Matereals feel a cheaper than my ko type r. Rx is same size as a spektrum. If anyone is at bury and wants a look feel free

Regards

buds

Nice one, will hunt you out tomorrow :)

Crazy L 20-02-2010 11:03 AM

I've just ordered one of these sets too. It's cheap like a ten quid hooker, but if you want sticks and 2.4Ghz, and haven't got £250 for Futabas "mid" 3GR (I have the 40meg version, cost less than a ton, how 2.4 can cost over 100 quid more I'll never know), then if its of any use, then why not.

I'm not a brand snob, if it does the job, I'm not going to moan about petty things, It's less than £100 ffs.

The jury is out, lets just see how it pans out:thumbsup:

Harris Magnum 26-02-2010 10:26 PM

Yep mines is here and I have no complaints. Seems like a decent piece of kit.

pat*1 26-02-2010 10:33 PM

I bought one today, and used it tonight and im very impressed with it.Nice to hold just the right amount of weight with it...

frogger 27-02-2010 12:05 AM

+1 I got one of these today for my wife's car because I am tired of sharing my Sanwa and I must say I am very impressed by it, especially for the money! It feels nice in the hands, the sticks work and feel good and it has an incredible amount of settings. Binding was quick and easy too. All in all you just can't beat it for the money, I predict these will be very popular!

Tom3012 27-02-2010 01:03 AM

Had a hold of one last weekend, felt very solid and pretty good quality, its not as flash looking as some of the more expensive stuff but has all the toys on it. Its also smaller than a sanwa exzes, not by much but if enough to need a bit of time adjusting to.

I compared the reciever to my spektrum pro and its a little bit smaller but not much.

less than £100 is a bargain and reciever are only £35 i think, not bad at all IMO

Qwghlm 21-04-2010 03:58 AM

Any more reports from you guys that are using one?

Thinking of getting one and just wondered if any problems have turned up yet.

theres usually a spring adjuster screw inside the back of all transmitter,

Andysan 16-05-2010 10:44 PM

Does anyone know what power source these run off please? AA's or does it come with a battery pack/the option to use a battery pack?

Cheers!

On a similar topic, anyone know of a suitable charger? Seems a bit odd to include a charging jack but no appropriately rated charger
