LRP and Nosram

Ordered an LRP system but LRP dont have any in stock so I could be waiting however long. The alternative is Nosram, now I know they are the same and slightly cheaper, but Ive heard the customer service is much slower and they can be very annoying in their lax service. whats everyones experience with them

ashleyb4 02-06-2007 10:17 AM

Ive never had a problem with mirage conserning a nosram speedo the service has always been quick and of good quality. And Nosram products are nicer in the red. The lrp blue is to light it needs to be darker.

having not raced for years, i now use nosram istc speedo and storm evo motors, I find them excellent. As ash says, colour is good too!!:)

tc2k 02-06-2007 10:28 AM

Im more concerned about teh servicem with brushless being new and speedos going left right and centre for some people, Ive heard of pretty poor service from Nosram and have been advised to go LRP for their better service, but they dont have any in stock.

I disagree I like the blue, ive owned both nosram and LRP products however I found that when talking directly to LRP customer service they were not as good as I had expected and since I have bought more nosram products!

Jamesy 02-06-2007 10:45 AM

I think you've answered this one yourself - No stock = you can't get one = poor service.

How would you get a replacement from them should it go wrong if they have no stock?

tc2k 02-06-2007 11:12 AM

Its just the fact someone at our club has had a bad experience with their brushless systems and their returns, and even the LHS owner has said LRP service is alot better than nosrams which can be poor. So is everyone saying go nosram?

paulc 02-06-2007 11:23 AM

the service at lrp is 1st class when mine broke it came back within a couple of days ;)

So Should I just bite the bullet and go nosram, I hope I dont regret it!

ashleyb4 02-06-2007 11:39 AM

I havent seen a Nosram brushless go up yet ive only seen LRP ones. Mirage service is great get nosram.

tc2k 02-06-2007 11:43 AM

Well theyre the same speedo as the LRP so thats just luck, its just the poor service Ive had but..I thin Im just gonna have to get the nosram system, at least with the £10-£15 saved I can get the worlds accesory set to hopefully lessen the chance of a pop.

ashleyb4 02-06-2007 11:48 AM

The matrix evolution comes with a heatshink so there is no needs for the worlds kit. And mirage are just as good as helgar.

tc2k 02-06-2007 11:50 AM

Im not getting the evolution, getting the original

regarless what you buy guard the warranty card with your life;)

Doomanic 02-06-2007 04:01 PM

In my experience, Mirage and Horizon (Helger) have similar warranty turnaround.
Mirage are more anal about following the proper procedures, but assuming both have stock, I wouldn't like to put money on either being quicker.

tc2k 02-06-2007 04:14 PM

Bert, ever realise the same warranty card comes with every nosram speedo, you could effectively buy a budget speedo and use that card

k£v!n 02-06-2007 05:36 PM

Yeah they are all the same, maybe even get a really cheap one of ebay for example just for the card. I may even have a spare one of you want me to have a look for you?

LEGEND 05-06-2007 02:50 PM

You know you can always count on the LEGEND to help you out. I have a spare GM speedo that goes down to 10 turn, that you could borrow if you don't manage to get your in time. Heck that is half the reason i come racing is to help other people out an dto have a good time :D

tc2k 05-06-2007 02:53 PM

Ash, I ideally wanna buy from our shop so if anything does happen im sorted also, Id rather pay him for my stuff as Id rather support my local shop. Might end up buying asecond hand one if LRP cant get any

tc2k 09-06-2007 12:44 PM

After being told friday at the earliest theyd have them. I should have a Nosram Matrix and 6.5 Motor by Wednesday. Ready for the regional and hopefully I will no longer get blasted on the straights :D

NeilD 09-06-2007 05:10 PM

Good stuff.:)

tc2k 13-06-2007 09:03 PM

Yahey! Nosram brushless sat here in my lap, looks so shiny :p
Gonna install it thursday night ready for the regional on saturday! Wont take it out if its raining though as theyre not waterproof as far as I know.

Matches my paint scheme perfectly :D

:) Damn, Nobody told us, we ran our's in the rain, although to be fair we taped up the vents in the bodyshells on the esc/receiver side of our buggies. No problems overheating as generally we don't go as quick in the wet.:)
