North East Off Roaders, NERCR needs you at this meeting.

The Catherine Cookson Classic.

Saturday 7th July, North East R/C Racing present this inaugural event to be held in Bents Park, South Shields Sea Front.
This 2 & 4wd off road competition is to be used as a show case event to show South Tyneside Council what R/C racing is all about. Hopefully, this will lead to a Partnership between the Council and NERCR to create a much needed, permanent, high quality R/C racing facility in the North East.

Bents Park is a Public area adjacent to the North Sea. Toilet facilities are available and there is a camp site in the next field to the park

NERCR would appreciate all the support we can get from regional racers to make this event a high quality, professional meeting, on what is going to be a busy day down at South Shields sea front.
Council members, the Mayor and local Politicians attend this event along with thousands of spectators. So this truly will be a showcase event.

If you could, we would really appreciate you putting this date in your diary, and attending. More details are to follow.

is this the place?

notlawnomis 22-05-2007 05:11 PM

Nearly this is it!!

You can see the corner of your pic in the bottom right of this one, so you were pretty close!!

Right beside the seaside!!

Thanks to George Stoker for the image on www.forum.nercr.net

emzy 22-05-2007 05:18 PM

You've driven past it before Jimmy :) If you remember the car park we were parked in on the sea front, its the park on the opposite side of the road to that.

If Simon put a slightly wider photo... you'd see my house! :D

I'm absolutely GUTTED to be missing this... I can't BELIEVE its that weekend - the only weekend I'm going to be on a remote Scottish island training for Chile... arrgh!

chrispattinson 09-06-2007 08:54 AM

super__dan 11-06-2007 06:45 AM

Chris,

I know I said I'd be there but it clashes with Belgium, sorry!

chrispattinson 13-06-2007 07:00 AM

No probs Dan.

chrispattinson 19-06-2007 07:01 AM

We can be on site from 7:30, expect the first race to be on the line between 9:30 and 10:00

Barry Williams 22-06-2007 11:42 AM

Chris,
just going to book kids in for this event, just wondered if there were many people pre booked yet? Hopefully you will get a similar amount as a regional event to show the potential for a new permanent track, (god knows we need one), the nearest to us is Batley at nearly 100 miles away!!

chris68nufc 22-06-2007 05:20 PM

Hopefully everybody that attends Regionals (North East) can make the effort if possible to attend this event. The more people turning up to support the event gives the council a good idea of the kind of interest surrounding thi hobby.

Hopefully we will be able to get another Regional venue and knowing the hard work NERCR members/comittee work then maybe a National event.

Well done to all involved with organising this event and remember if people want another permanent off road venue then you must show some support.

Good Luck.

chrispattinson 25-06-2007 06:52 AM

This event is now free to enter.

Due to the council funding trophies etc, there is now no entry fee for this event.

Book in at:

www.nercr.net/compentry.htm

chrispattinson 28-06-2007 07:18 AM

The racing format for this event, will be 3 rounds of qualifying, and 3 legged finals for everyone.

It's a good chance to get some finals practice in!

Chris
is the entrance on Bents Park Road or on the A183 Sea Road?

NeilD 02-07-2007 12:22 PM

Also can we book in on the day?

notlawnomis 02-07-2007 07:51 PM

No problem booking in on the day Neil, it just makes it easier to get things going earlier if more people have pre-booked, its not going to cost you anything!! :D

chrispattinson 02-07-2007 08:04 PM

The entrance will be off Sea Road, opposite the fairground.

NeilD 02-07-2007 08:36 PM

Thanks for the info Simon. :)

Borat 02-07-2007 08:40 PM

Can my brother Bilo race? He in a cage, he safe, no get out.

chrispattinson 03-07-2007 06:59 AM

But one time he break cage and he "get this" and then we all laugh. High five!

notlawnomis 03-07-2007 07:33 PM

Further info

Heres a MAP and DIRECTIONS to the venue.

We can get on site at 07:30

Practice as soon as the track is sorted. (Track is being prepared on Friday afternoon, so you should be able to practice as soon as cells are charged!!).

Racing should start at approximately 10:00, depending on numbers.

The general public are allowed onto the park at 13:00 as this is a carnival weekend, so there will be loads going on.

Castle Models will be in attendance for spares.

Mr Whippy should be there as well :)

No vehicle movement is allowed between 12:00 and 17:00, as a St Johns Ambulance managed to run someone over last year!! Ironic I know!! Parking is available just outside the park for those that may need to leave early. So it should be possible to bring your cars onsite to unload them and then move just outside the park. We can give people a hand getting their gear back to their cars should they need to use this option.

Northy 03-07-2007 07:38 PM

I may come and give my X11 a 'shakedown' if I get it

And what a mess they made of her leg! She's one of the kids from the library... she was in a wheelchair for about 2 months afterwards...!

Just an additional note to my previous post. All cars on site need to display a note identifying they are with the R/C car racing.

I'll print a few extras incase someone forgets, so come and see me if you need one on arrival!!

Cheers
Simon

Yep I'm booked in for 2wd :)

Lee 04-07-2007 04:32 PM

I booked in for 4wd.

Does anyone know if 2wd is more popular, i might change yet:D

notlawnomis 04-07-2007 04:43 PM

Not sure on that one Lee, I don't have access to the booking in system, I'll mail Bill for some ifno. I know there are people booked in for 2wd, but if you want to change later its not a problem.

notlawnomis 07-07-2007 06:40 PM

Just a quick note to thank everyone who attended today and those that stopped back to help clear away the track!! It was a great day and hope everyone enjoyed it !!

Well done to Rich (Even starting a lap down on the third run :)) and Lee on the 2wd and 4wd wins, respectively!!

Mike West and Simon (from Bradford) didn't have the best of luck when a very large council gazebo came over a 6-foot metal fence and landed on thier cars and tents :wtf:. Mikes new Alfa came off worst, with quite a bit of damage to the bonnet, windscreen and paintwork on the drivers side. However, it was taken with Mikes usual grace and understanding, thanks Mike, and sorry about Jeff snapping your Losi in half as well :(!!

Anyone else like a beetroot, just off to find the after sun :p

Lee 07-07-2007 07:47 PM

Thanks Simon it was a great day and i hope the club does really well out of it, and yes i look like a beetroot, i didnt think i was burnt or feel burnt but ill be sore tomorrow.

gazbaz2 07-07-2007 11:20 PM

Big Big Thanks
