New Upgrade Kit For RB5 SP And RT5
1 Attachment(s)
Kyosho is releasing a new upgrade kit for the RB5 SP/RT5 to improve the balance when using brushless motor. The new transmission parts center the mass of the motor along the center line of the chassis for perfect left/right weight distribution when using brushless motor. Brushless motors are longer than typical brushed motors, for which the RB5/RT5 transmission was originally designed. There'll be new rear suspension arms, motor guard, main gear shaft set, motor plate spacer and new rear hubs too. The part number is UMW517. Check out the attached file.

think al be ordering this then!

Oh, there you go! I was not all mistaken when I made my own version then;). Many parts for the same thing tough but this kit will make the car 100% balanced L/R. Mine perhaps only 52/48%:D.

exacltly what i was thinking!! u were on the same page as kyosho then ;) nice one dude. looking forward to getting that conversion. will make the car even more competitive! |

|
lucky git :p
You going for the overall win Butch? Might have to put some money on you mate  |
We have been looking at all the new bits with Shin.
There is always something in development but the date by USA for the pdf bits seems too early so dont get your wallets out yet. A new higher body for the FS to accomadate lipo and big ESC is one to look for, Dont forget Shin is the designer of these cars |
BTW.
Will anyone have a lap top with them? I have a KO setting lead and software but no PC :( |

Doh i hope i can get this changed coz i aint no racer. |
Was very interested to see these bits. A great option to have, as soon as it's in the shops it will be on my car!
Shin & Butch's cars looked awesome on the jumps! |
Hi guys I only ran the motor plate spacer, and car was sweet, will need to test the other parts to see if I will run them,
|
this UMW517 conv kit will only be out in Japan earliest end of this month, so rest of the world will have to wait a little while longer...:(

Tebo's car from CRCRC had it. The truck did too.

Tebos the Man.
Thanks for the pics |
Nice find, thanks for the info.
|
Did anyone notice the tires on all the carswas slicks nearly.
I guess they run additive on the tires? for the grip |
Rob,
I think you will find they are foams!! Very good for clay type surfaces and indoors. I ran foams on my FS last night and came 4th in the A final against the touring car boys. |
Neil they were slicks.. track had very good traction, and they had to grind down normal rubber tyres to slicks and use additive.. they were all at with with dremels etc..
Even at PDA, the proline tyre of choice is holeshot. Tebo's car looks to be on rails! gurdy |
Yea most of the indoor tracks in the us have so much traction that the tread actually hurts traction so we wear the tires down to almost or full slicks. Can make the racing really close, but kinda takes the fun out of 2wd, because you don't have to worry about breaking traction as much, and that why I like the class so much, it is simple but takes great skill to master.

I have the kit fitted to my RB5 now...
Will report back after this weekend at Bury  As usual a well put togehter package of tune up bits and again excellent quality! Cheers Nick |

Have you found any difference when driving? In Spain we received the kit a week ago ( http://www.positivonegativo.com/tien...prod_1211.html) , but due to bad weather we have not proved anything. http://www.imagefacile.com/img/uel9d_rearrb5.jpg http://www.imagefacile.com/img/500mf_spacerrb5.jpg http://www.imagefacile.com/img/xrtmz_rb4-upgradekit.jpg Regards |

positivo - i see that you run the small plastic triangular piece with 2 button head screws (on top of the motor). do you know what that does?
never been able to figure it out so i run my RB5 without that piece. |
interesting... but my RB5 is belt drive.... ;):woot:

Thats because you a legend mate
|
Does anybody know where I can get this as a whole package?
|
Around May or so Kyosho will be releasing the RB5 SP2 kit which will have this.
|
Sorry was not to clear. I meant buying the upgrade only as a complete package. I can only find individual parts. And nobody I have found has all of them in stock at once.
