shock springs

ok, so i've decided to have a play, and i'm half way through fitting losi shocks to the b4...

anyone have an idea what a rough equivalent would be for blue fronts and silver rears? Obviously I'll end up with a selection, but at the mo I've only got red fronts and green rears, and need to order more so I can test them before the regional next week.

Thanks in advance! :)

Rob

RLGfx 11-05-2007 08:46 AM

oops....

make that losi red rears and green fronts...

tyreman 11-05-2007 09:11 AM

Start with red pistons and 27.5wt oil all round, with the springs you have should work quite well.

Kopite 11-05-2007 09:33 AM

What are the length differences between the Losi and Associated dampers nobhead?

Lee 11-05-2007 09:36 AM

Brian is only trying to help:D

The losi springs are a lot longer than the AE ones, not sure on the travel of the shocks though, limiters may be needed inside the shocks

RLGfx 11-05-2007 09:36 AM

if you're talking to me, not brian, then I don't know yet...

Only just threw them together last night, with apparently completely the wrong oil and pistons... yet to offer them up to the car.

So much easier to build and rebuild than the Associated units, and they are silky smooth... and I'm crap at building shocks!

Kopite 11-05-2007 09:52 AM

Obviously, i was talking to Robin, cos he's a nobhead!:)

By the way, this was my idea originally, you stole it!!

How much did they cost Rob? (in total, to adapt them to the b4 as well).

Richard Lowe 11-05-2007 10:05 AM

Red losi rears = Associated blue rears
Green losi fronts = Associated green fronts

super__dan 11-05-2007 10:42 AM

Robin, you knocked the touring cars on the head, or is this cos off road is MILES more fun?

PS Seen Olly (big) Balls recently?

RLGfx 11-05-2007 10:46 AM

looks like my spring choise is wildly off...

Brian, forgot to say thanks for the hints, I'll try your suggestion, with 30 wt, as my 27.5 is like water, it's about 7 years old...

Dan, I'm still playing with touring cars too, and 1/12th... I reckon it's all halped my off road, as i could never make a regional B beforehand... :D

Olly's still about, I've been golfing with him recently, i'll remember you to him next time i see him...

Kopite 11-05-2007 10:56 AM

Rob, can i borrow your hybrid (does anyone remember the Top Models Hybrid car by the way?) of a car for the weekend, as a way of apology for not going to the cinema to watch spiderbint with me and Doddy last night?

RLGfx 11-05-2007 11:03 AM

it's not a hybrid yet.... but I'm contemplating making a narrow chassis for it... if i can be bothered...

you can borrow it though, as well as my motors... as usual. On condition that you drop it off on your way home on sunday night.

Actually, it's still in the bag from last time you borrowed it.

Lee 11-05-2007 11:04 AM

I remember the old hybrid, one of mr brian staceys concoctions;)

Kopite 11-05-2007 11:35 AM

Thanks Rob, i love you xxx
The best thing that Stacey imported were the old Cobra motors, they were AWESOME!

Phil Channon 11-05-2007 12:05 PM

matdodd 11-05-2007 02:28 PM

Stan Should! :D
Hey Rob have you got a 6.5 yet I coul nick for the weekend? Im still waiting to get my Nosram back! :(

RLGfx 11-05-2007 02:31 PM

no, i've got a nosram 5.5 that i think stans borrowing, and my novak 5.5 sintered.

Stan will have both with him, so you can cat-fight it out between yourselves! :o

matdodd 11-05-2007 02:40 PM

Thanks

RLGfx 11-05-2007 02:48 PM

WOW! there's your answer Rob!!
As for your car, it's still in one piece, i didn't take any parts off it. I just don't have any spares left now!! :wtf:

PS - the losi dampers do look fit:cool:

RLGfx 14-05-2007 01:29 PM

wow... that's a most complete listing... very helpful... thanks... :)

Stan, I've got a few spares and bits, if you're stuck for owt let me know. Any chance I could get the car back off you tonight? And give you some wheels to acetone? I want to stare at my shiny new shocks!

Lee 14-05-2007 01:35 PM

Rob, do you have a red shaft?

On your shocks of course;) :D
