Ellis Stafford Championship Edition

Advertising deadlines are way too early, so it's out in Racer now even though we're not quite ready. We are rushing to bring you the Ellis Stafford Championship Edition X - 6 Squared before Christmas. Final details are being put together as I write. You may think it's odd, but price is the last thing to be worked out.

This special Kit will have its own label with a photo of Ellis holding his Championship trophies from last year and this. Ellis will autograph the labels!

This Kit will include all of Ellis' special bits, from the E-Speed parts to the RudeBits weight kit Ellis favors. 30 degree caster blocks, a JConcepts front air dam, all Lunsford Titanium ball studs and turnbuckles, Losi gray ball cups, X Factory #2601 front axles, a sway bar kit; I could go on. It's everything Ellis uses.

The instruction manual will include Ellis' set-up of course, but there will be a special addendum written personally by Ellis telling you just where and how he uses each special part. Perhaps you'll laugh at differences between the "American" manual and the "English" addendum.

We will ship these Kits by Express the moment they are ready and hope they are in the stores just before Christmas.

There will be a very limited number of Championship Edition kits, so see your local model shop now to reserve yours and tell the wife not to blow the whole Christmas wad just yet!

blitzboy 07-12-2009 04:38 PM

wow the big E spec x6 what else could you ask for at this time of the year , nice one chazz ,,,

Darren Boyle 07-12-2009 05:15 PM

We are just waiting for some of the "outside suppliers" to submit the items required for us to finish the kit, until ALL of these parts finally come in and the kits have shipped to us we do not yet have the "exact" price. We have a good idea but until we are 100% sure we will not comment further regards the price. I will point out the obviuos - it is NOT going to be cheap but it will be the closest possible spec to what Ellis himself uses and will of course be cheaper than buuying the parts seperately.

There is only a VERY limited number being made as Chazz has already said above and some of our dealers are starting to take deposits already (although the final price is not yet confirmed)

Rest assured just as soon as we have the full press release ready it will be distrubuted to all of our dealers and indeeed all internet websites and forums including of course Jimmy for offical release on oOPle-land too

The saying goes, if you have to ask then it is probably too expensive....

Just remember, "the possibilities are endless"

Lee 07-12-2009 07:26 PM

A big thumbs up from me

What a great idea, the mrs can be cooking the turkey while you are building your X6 in the front room watching the queens speech, maybe next year Xfactory will release a DVD with the 4wd so that while you build the 4wd you can watch Ellis on the TV instead of the queen

coolcars782 07-12-2009 07:40 PM

Maybe Ellis doing the queens speech :)

GRIFF55 07-12-2009 08:07 PM

GRIFF55 07-12-2009 08:30 PM

.......

Smartalec 07-12-2009 08:30 PM

Does it come with Losi shocks? :)

YoungChazz 07-12-2009 08:51 PM

It's still a Conversion Kit, so shocks are not included. Thus, we assume you'll run AE if your are converting a B4, but the choice is yours.

Ellis has said often that the main reason he uses Losi shocks is that he ran for them for years, is very familiar with them, and has zillions of shock parts in his box. So run the shock you have parts for, the ones you know.

Just got the first prototype label from the printer. Dialed...

coolcars782 07-12-2009 08:53 PM

Any sneeky pics then

I'm sure that if Ellis thought that the AE shocks would give him an edge then he would be using them ............ regardless of how many zillions of Losi shock parts he's got hanging around in his pit box

Exactly! They DONT give him the "edge", so why go to all that hassle of changing all your stuff for no differance when they are much the same as what he already has lots of and knows very well....... ;)

The point being that you need Losi shocks on the car if it is going to perform the same, I can't remember anyone using AE shocks on an X6 at the top end of the English national scene. There are probably plenty of people that have bought the car and can't afford to throw away the AE shocks from the donor car and fork out on the Losi ones.

Any price yet? :D

DCM 08-12-2009 11:17 AM

I must admit, if X-Factory brought out a full kit, I would really consider one, but I just can't justify the cost of a used B4 and a conversion.

ben 08-12-2009 12:02 PM

My first guess will be around the £400 mark

Northy 08-12-2009 12:29 PM

I was really looking forward to a Tom Cock edition, with all the metal bits bent and plastic bits cracked in the kit, but he's shattered my dreams now and moved on :(:(:(

Garry Driffill 08-12-2009 12:49 PM

Ahh i didnt think it would be long before somthing like this was released! - Good work X-Factory!

YoungChazz 08-12-2009 02:01 PM

Thanks to all for the props. Our only goal is a happy Family -- a whole group of guys working their tails off to be faster today than yesterday and loving that work. Keeps us from mischief...

We now await delivery of one crucial part, the new #5661 rear axle. We are thinking of shipping the Kits without it, then mailing them when they arrive. Hope to have more info this afternoon our time. Remember that we are entirely out of the older #5660, so putting them in won't work.

Smartalec 08-12-2009 03:45 PM

So if you are thinking of shipping out the kits without this one part you MUST have a price, right?

Ouch, people were moaning that the Durango was expensive at £445 for a complete, top of the range 4wd kit ............ can't imagine X Factory can price a 2wd conversion kit at anywhere near that, not when it still needs a decent donor car and a set of shocks.

Darren Boyle 08-12-2009 03:56 PM

Not quite true Alec, some of the parts are being UK sourced too (Rudebits, Decal Designs etc) Chazz has to worry about the items at his end, the kits are then being sent here and the UK items added, signed individually by Ellis and sealed up ready for despatch. The price will only be confimed when this is complete, which is basically what I posted back on page 1 of this thread.......

The kit is aimed solely at the UK market owing to its nature and will be all revealed VERY soon, so please be patient and bare with us until then.

ben 08-12-2009 04:34 PM

Your paying for the privelidge of owning a one off kit aswell Alec

c0sie 08-12-2009 04:57 PM

Define "one off" Ben :D

ben 08-12-2009 05:20 PM

haha.. replace that with " a hand full" :p

GRIFF55 08-12-2009 05:47 PM

How ltd is this kit going to be then?? 100/200 kits?

Smartalec 08-12-2009 06:15 PM

Would be excellent if they all came ready built by the man himself .......... poor old Ellis's hands would be a bit sore from all that dremelling :woot:

jim76 08-12-2009 06:51 PM

wonder if the dremel is included in the price?! lol

DCM 08-12-2009 07:04 PM

oh, I shouldn't think so, as I keep getting told, you don't need to Dremmel on the squared..... :woot:
