Anyone got this? could have a race between some of the oOplers..

I got it the other day, not had much of a go though :(

Hmmmm, the luxury of the PS3......hmmmmmmmm.

Can't afford one. May wait 'til new year when they knock £100 off them.

yes i just sold my 360, the games are more to my liking on the 360. Not to mention games like gran tourismo 5 :)
I like the fact wireless is built in, as well as the power supply, you get the blueray drive built in and you don't have to pay to go online.
Xbox on the other hand is all optional extras, thats why it's so much cheaper.

any idea when gt5 is going to be coming out as ive just gone back to gt4,
ive got a 360 but got bored with the games really quickly,

not until the new year lol, but f1 is awesome, especially on a hd tv, Colin MCrae and gran theft auto out soon too!

Not really had that much time to play - I think my friends have had more when they have visited!!!!

my dad hopefully should be getting a ps3 soon so i will get tht game if its any good.

I'm on there a bit, not too much but as Matt says my user name is bigestaff.

Motorstorm is ace as well though, especially the online with that.

THe ps3 is really impressive, really happy with mine even if the bank manager isn't!!

Will have to try and get some online action going on soon.

I do most of my online gaming on my 360 as it is far superior than the ps3 for multiplayer fun.

saying that, Resistance Fall Of Man is very good online for ps3.

Just traded in Motorstorm ...not as good as i was led to believe.

changed my mind again. i dont know which is better? i dont care money wise i just need to know so i choose the right one and arent regretful. with the ps3 online play is free, but its supposed to be really poor menus etc. on xbox it is easy to use but it £40 a year. ps3 u get a lbue ray player. xbox u get a hd dvd player, cant also use a blu ray with it. ps3 have a little better graphics than xbox, xbox has more games available, ps3 has less people owning it (apparently) and also my mate said once you have used your game on your console you cant use it on someone elses of trade it back, this osunds stupid but is it true?

I dont play the ps2 much, but I would like to play F1, it has safety cars.

Xbox doesn't come with a HD player it's a £130 option lol.
Go on play.com and ull see how many amazing games are coming out on it! Just on F1 alone theres normally 200+ players.

Funnily enough, my cousins ha a 360, he's the PS3 is rubbish, only because he couldn't wait to buy a PS3 :D

dude southwell had a 360 and I have the noraml xbox, and well his over prices 360 was a load of puppy cash and no better than my bothers ps2

id get the ps3, played the motorstrom and wasnt impressed, Rage racer is lush love the drifting.

This console is fantastic!
I was sceptical when it came out. £500+ for a gaming console when the 360 was at least 200 quid cheaper! What could it offer?!
A lot it turns out! I loved my PS2 but since I bought a HD TV last October I was craving HD gaming. I had nearly bought an XBox several times but wanted to wait for the PS3 to see if it was worth it. Even after the launch I wasn't so sure until I went round a mate's house who had just got a new PS3 (he already had an Xbox360 so I had the direct comparison!)
I bought one the next day! Why?
- REALLY slick user experience (way better than XBox)
- free online gaming membership (MS costs £40 per yr)
- free download of games, demos, videos, etc. and they can be 'background downloaded' so you just select what you want and carry on playing your games while the download runs silently in the background (a little message tells you when the download(s) are complete)
- MotorStorm and Fall Of Man graphics are amazing and game-play is totally addictive. Online its great fun too!
- 60GB HDD and its a media-player so you can use it for playing videos, music and viewing pics.
- web browser, for if you are too lazy to go upstairs on the PC!
- blue-tooth: so you should be able to use your mobile phone headset with it (my Nokia headset works) if you don't want to shell out for a Sony one!
- Blu-Ray drive (HD video for those that don't know)
- SixAxis controller is motion sensitive (Wii style!)
- Red Kawa have produced free media server software so you can use it as a media extender just like the Xbox, but it'll work with normal Windows XP (MCE not required) on your PC and there's a Linux version too!
- 'Other OS' installation: you can install another operating system and use it as a fully fledged PC! I've done this. Really easy to install (I used Yellow Dog Linux), took about an hour and came bundled with 'Open Office' and loads of other apps. Also makes the media player experience potentially limitless (as you can use whatever media player software you want and download the codecs required for your AV files!)
I reckon anyone who has posted negative reviews compared to the Xbox haven't actually tried it and are just anti-PS3 or are Xbox die-hards! Yes, the Xbox has a more established games selection, but MotorStorm and Fall Of Man are fantastic (the latter is definitely a match for Gears Of War in my opinion!) and its only a matter of time until the PS3 games collection catches up!
If you already have an XBox then its probably worth waiting until the selection of games matures a bit or the price drops a bit more, but if you are thinking of buying either one or the other then the PS3 wins hands down - if you buy an Xbox you'll be regretting it later on!

I wasn`t overly impressed with the 360 when i got it when it first came out, but then i got the 42" HD plasma and WOW it is awesome!!!

I haven`t played on the PS3 and i dont want too because i dont want to regret buying the 360:D

Rainbow 6 vegas rules... and Forza motorsport 2 is coming very very soon... as is colin mcrae dirt (not sure about this online though...), GTA4, Fable 2, Project Gotham 4, and wait for it......... wait for it........ GOLDEN AXE!!!!!!!

Lee you're right, 42" HD tv and surround sound makes it well worth it, and there's a host of good stuff coming this year... Halo 3 anyone?

Ive heard a lot of rumours that Microsoft have stopped fixing certain hardware faults even when their under warrenty, due to too many overheating and failing!!

I'm waiting for a while to get my PS3, to be honest I'm not interested until the next GT is around. Hopefully by then the online play will be fine and they'll have worked out all the hardware bugs, not to mention it'll be half the price.

Why doesn't everyone go PC gaming, far better...

all elite is, is a diff colur, like ps3 and its got 120gb hardrive and hd dvd palyer, nothing like bluraythats it.

It's got HDMI aswell.

When the Elite production run is over MS are going to sell the exact same machine but in white in the Premium bundle, the current Premium spec will become the Core spec.

but i need to know now, whcih is better, overall id say ps3 but then i cchanged to xbox, then read another review ad went for ps3 and then otday read yet another review and it said xbox. is ps3's service and online feature really poor?

You should take reviews of stuff like consoles with a pinch of salt, the only way to tell it to get your hands on each and make up your own mind.

If I get either it will be a PS3, purely for Gran Turismo, if the GT series were available on the PC I wouldn't have a PS2. RTS and FPS games just don't work with a joypad IMO, and most driving games that are released these days have stupid arcade physics. Now the GT games' physics are hardly Grand Prix Legends but they just feel right to play. So long as they fix the drift angle issues with the physics engine in the next GT I'm happy :)
