Kidderminster National - May 12th + 13th 2007.

There's one week to go before round 2 of the national championship series, at Kidderminster Model Car Club, May 12th and 13th 2007.
Is everyone prepared? I think the tyre debate has calmed down now, so what else to discuss? Who's looking hot on the track (I'm thinking Yardy is heading for a good result, among other top competitors of course)?
Once again lets hope the weather is kind to us like it was at Tivvy, made a nice change not to be freezing our socks off.
Is everyone sorted out for travel plans? And are many people still awaiting confirmation of race entry?

Kopite 04-05-2007 01:42 PM

I take it most people are camping for this one?

Mrs oOple 04-05-2007 01:54 PM

I'm not sure... has anyone found any decent room rates at hotels nearby?

Wraggy 04-05-2007 01:59 PM

rain + kiddy = :(

I bet i will get the marshall point at the top of a hill so i can slide down and break my back...

That field is also very small.. took me 3 hours to get out last year because i was not racing sunday and wanted to go home...

Still a great track though, cant wait. Always love kiddy

millzy 04-05-2007 03:22 PM

I like kiddy in the rain, its easyer i find, to much sun and all that rubber = megga traction on the bottom right sections and grip roll and rolls.

the x5 is ready, did that the monday after the marsdon mid west regional as i knew i couldnt make the next 4wd regional

2wd ive got the new top shaft sorter ackerman ball stud and ally shock bushings to fit ,and then shes done

You have to pay in advance now at Travelodge!!! BOO, I will check the weather next week, but tents and rain don't mix... ever!

neiloliver 04-05-2007 03:41 PM

Can anyone help me with a set-up for Kiddy? I said I like it there but that is more to do with the organisation and the venue.. i always have problems setting the car up, especially getting it into a straight line as you come onto the straight, whatever the weather i end up fish tailing it down the main straight, it cant just be my application of power...

Help !? Stan?

Wraggy 04-05-2007 03:46 PM

losixxx 04-05-2007 03:51 PM

interesting to see he was using pink spike's!

don't think we will be able to use bb front spike 2wd as there discontinued so will have to be green schue if its wet

millzy 04-05-2007 03:51 PM

thats the set up i started on at the last winter round and the set up i will start next weekend on

as for the entry issue, im the same i find very little steering is needed untill you hit the loop and then gun it hard and add steering and drift almost near or on the grass

there is better ways

yeah i think most the top guys did at the start of the last winter, i think it was lawson who went to yellows frist and then every one followed

JUST TO ADD

remember its 4wd fronts they where runnig as BB dont make 2wd fronts
and the brca rules state tyres must be commercially available so 2wd front BB spikes I believe will not be aloud.

I mounted my BB 4wd fronts the same as we did the losi 4wd front @ tivy on my 2wd

Kopite 04-05-2007 03:57 PM

What are u asking me for? I'm shit at Kiddy!!

However, fishtailing on the straight is pretty easy to do Neil, so yeah, you've gotta feed the power really smoothly!

The link that Wraggy just posted will probably do the trick as well

Wraggy 04-05-2007 04:15 PM

i dont think ive ever fishtailed down there and my thumbs made of lead !!!! :D :D

http://www.innkeeperslodge.com/lodge...asp?INNID=SUMK

hope it helps

Mrs oOple 04-05-2007 04:29 PM

Thanks for that Carl. I usually look out for the travelodge deals, 15 or 26 pounds per night, although they do have to be booked quite far in advance to get the best deals, and don't include breakfast, although many places don't start serving breakfast until after we have to set off to the track.

Chrislong 04-05-2007 05:15 PM

Me and Greenwood are booked into the Hartlebury Travellodge, its where we stayed last year. But if forecast is wrong and weather appears to be dry, we are both tempted to camp.

Im ready for Kidderminster now, have both cars setup rather well for Bury which should be a good setup to start at Kiddy on, and I have plenty of Schumacher Yellows if dry.... I won't buy BB tires til required, I hate it when I gamble and get it wrong. I have enough 1 run BB (old compound) green spikes to start the day on anyway.

Chris dude, surely any front is allowed, as long as it's not a cut & shut?
Or do I need to re-check my rule book (again)?

Or is it, like, as-in Girls Aloud?

What? You would do any of them but the ginger one?

Stu 04-05-2007 05:46 PM

Rule 23.7 - Hmm, looks like the Welsh Spelling Champion may be correct.

As for the ginger one - oh yes.

losixxx 04-05-2007 05:47 PM

stu bb 2wd front will NOT be allowed according to the rule's of being commercially available

Can't be that fussy in this day and age!!;)

Stu 04-05-2007 05:54 PM

I quite like gingers. I thought that ginger was second best spice.

I bet you thought Baby Spice was "bestest Spice I'd like to hunker hunker...." didn't you? ;)

G

bigred5765 04-05-2007 06:06 PM

Gingers you say,
hmm
and whats wrong with gingers, even though I'm going white, round the sides

jimmy 04-05-2007 06:09 PM

I read that commercially available thing as ONCE were commercially available.

Chrislong 04-05-2007 06:17 PM

(Quoted exactly from the handbook)

Page 40, rule 23.7
Wheels and tyres must conform as follows:-

No form of metal or plastic spike, tubes or anything similar to be attached to the tyres. Maximum diameter allowed is 90mm front and rear. Only commercially available wheels and tyres may be used.

This wording is not past tense, its talking current by the grammar although it doesn't specifically state "Currently Commercially Available" or "...Available on 1st April 2007" or anything to that effect.

This discussion needs to be confirmed by Paul Worsley or Phil Truman before anybody presumes wrongly.

Chris

PaulRotheram 04-05-2007 06:18 PM

Any shops going to be there with pleanty of tyres in stock? this forecast is all crazeh, id prefer to buy tyres on the weekend if possible.
