chalky 26-11-2009 04:27 PM

1/8 electric its just wrong:thumbdown: (fossil fuels are the future):thumbsup:or maybe steam

MALLET 26-11-2009 04:29 PM

They was begging for them last year :woot: even offered free racing, so its popular :woot::woot::p

showtime 26-11-2009 06:08 PM

free entry was offered to a couple of people "on the day" just to make up the numbers last year as there were so few racing anyway.
for Neo09 Phil scheduled in a couple of heats to show an interest in a newly emerging class. but the slow takeup & the lack of any standardised rules/specs one year on still leaves electric 8th as a kind of novelty class!

such a big meeting with such a demand for entries doesn't really need another class to make up the numbers.
think of it another way..................its another 20 people racing in the main event

chalky 26-11-2009 10:09 PM

anyone know the entry fee for this year?

It was totally new i thought for this country..?? Things like speedo and brushless conversions weren't readily available for the main stream cars made by the manufacturers of that said chassis.. Now though they all seem to be doing them.. Surely it has gained popularity? It would be a shame not to incude them in Neo 2010.

Look at the Inferno VE RTR.. absolute bargain at £350... a good beginners car without going into all the expense.. especially if you already have a couple of Lipos from 1/10th Off Road!!

How many people have Electric 8th's who would consider taking part? I for one would enter.. then if i enjoy it i could use the car i bought to go Nitro if i wanted to! :woot:

There are fixed rules in the US now I think?

Definitely looks like just nitro this time round though, must be the best way they see of guaranteeing the turnout!

Chrislong 27-11-2009 11:08 PM

I want to attend!!!!!!!!! (Nitro ofcause)

Can't afford it though , not just entry but tyres also

Anyone need a pit man?

Oi.. ive already asked that! lol! :p

Tell you what if i get an entry.. i can use your Nitro car then you can be my pitman! :p lol!

showtime 28-11-2009 11:20 AM

Chris the track is really kind to the tyres & wear has never been an issue at Harper Adams.
of course there will be plenty of people who do go out on fresh boots every time but its not as much of an advantage as you might think

as for the electric class the decision has already been made & its not open to negotiation. the only way there would be an electric race is if a big manuafacturer or similar threw some major sponsorship at the meeting & we know in the current economic climate that just isn't gonna happen so its gonna be all nitro :D

the plus side of all nitro is that more people will get to race in what has consistantly proven to be THE meeting of the year

as for pitmen thats oldschool
i had a pit dolly last year & she was loooovely :wub:lol:

James 28-11-2009 11:38 AM

I presume if oOple decide to cover the event they might be allowed a plug socket

jimmy 28-11-2009 11:41 AM

guffaw:woot:

showtime 28-11-2009 11:49 AM

i had to do some hard negotiating for you guys last year!
at one point you were gonna be chucked out!

i think the issue was "can we use 1 socket for the laptop" which in reality turned into can we plug in 5 power supplys running 3 chargers each !

bearing in mind the extension was primarily for the live results projector for the pitting area the guys had to ensure it wasn't tripped out ;)

glypo 28-11-2009 06:18 PM

We have just made the event website live.

As for Adams early comments about tyre wear, he is spot on. The first time I raced there (Neo06) I bought one set of Crimefighter M2's and one M3 (for the final), I reused these two sets of tyres again at the Pro-Line 2007 (@ DXR) and again for last years Neo when I was running electric. They still have plenty of life left!

It's going to be a good race!

GRIFF55 28-11-2009 06:23 PM

I'd love to give this a go, the tracks always look awesome!! Couldn't one be run in the winter and not on a main holiday weekend?? gggrrrrrrrrr:(

Yeah thanks Adam for your help sorting it last year (you're bigger than those other guys!) - I think if it wasn't for my chums I'd have gone home either by will or by force :woot:

Not sure I'm allowed back this year though  But while I'm here - can someone keep me 'poked' about 8th nationals, as I'd like to cover some of those, especially on the tracks that are nice to photograph (dirt tracks)

Dazzler 28-11-2009 08:53 PM

A reminder of Neo 09, and the excellent oOple review - Fancy being denied a couple of plug sockets....

jimmy 28-11-2009 08:59 PM

I liked how we spent all the sponsorship dosh from SMD in the student bar on the first night  good times.

jimmy 28-11-2009 09:06 PM

no amount of money can buy classics like these:

strobe 28-11-2009 09:14 PM

What is the Maximum amount of entries capped to.

Chrislong 28-11-2009 09:24 PM

ok, so perhaps can afford tyres, but still..... not the entry... ... how long have I got to decide? I might be able to ebay some stuff.

kyosho-viking 28-11-2009 10:12 PM

I just hope I can get an entry this time, would love to attend this race.
