1/8 Buggy Pic Thread

hey guys,

haven't seen a thread like this (if there is one please just delete this one of the mods haha) but i was hoping you guys would post some picks of your buggies as i'm trying to get an idea for a good layout and some new body paint idea... figured this would be a good way to figure it out is too look at what you guys have already done. Cheers

-Jim

My losi 8ight T-2.0 Brushless conversion

http://i645.photobucket.com/albums/u.../Losi8t204.jpg

No underbody pictures yet still working on it. Have a mamba monster 2200kw combo along with hyperion 4s lipo. Will update as it progresses.

ojoloco 24-01-2010 10:04 PM

This was my first conversion, an 8ight buggy with a Feigao 9L(replaced later by a Neu 1515) and a Mamba Max, 3S lipos:

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3529/...7b8c90bf_b.jpg

Next, my Xray 808 v2009, with a MMM 2200Kv, still on 3S:

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3626/...a5a485cd0a.jpg

As you can see i didn't improve my painting skills...

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3325/...0753ec37_b.jpg

I put the rear shocks on its original position eventually:

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2471/...8ff9ca35_b.jpg

And the las thing i did was taking the ESC to the front:

Now, a little preview of the next step:

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4011/...f3087c41b0.jpg

Rear shocks are going back to the front, and a carbon chasis is on the works. Is one of the lightets buggy's and it's going to be even lighter :thumbsup:

PS: Sorry for the crappy iphone pics, it's all i've got :S

hockeyhead019 02-02-2010 04:24 PM

Some nice conversions there - like the sleeving JonyNitro.

-Rcrcrus, I'd shorten the motor wires if I were you - less resistance, and less interference.

Well, i always need to do something to my car, so one day i was bored and decided to put them on the front, 1/10th style, the by then Serpent/Durango 1/8th prototype made me curious about it
Moving them means more weight to the front of the car. I've been testing this for a year and i really like it.

The rollbar thing, a lot of people ask about it. A new mounting system for the "front" of the diff bulkhead is needed. The final car will have a cool looking carbon support :D

hockeyhead019 17-02-2010 02:10 PM

nice cars guys.... out of curiousity why have most of you moved the esc to the front of the car? I have min set up so it's the batt packs and then the esc in the very back of the car. Any reason for your set ups or just more convenient for whatever reason?

Im finding with 8th, the setup has a bigger margin of error than other classes - so minor changes make little difference, its all about big changes. Moving the shocks is a small change to me, and id be suprised if you could really feel any benefit from it.

Good work though, im all for new things and im not diss'ing your workmanship. Im just questioning if such minor change can be felt on the track.

Chris Doughty 17-02-2010 03:46 PM

once you get familar with 8th scale cars Chris, changes can be felt just the same as 10th scale.

I'm still unsure of benefits of front mounted rear shocks, I always liked rear mounted shocks on my 10th scale 4WD's

I'm not a pro so i agree with you, i might not notice big differences with small changes. But in this case, i took the car with the shocks mod on a race the first time i tested it, and results were pretty good, i was going fast and confortable with the car. So at least i know it's not a bad thing, laptimes don't lie :p

Chrislong 17-02-2010 06:45 PM

Cool, laptime don't lie :)
Get some photos on of the rollbar mounting etc, im intrigued.

Yeh Chris, granted, im new to the class and making big changes and feeling a lot less than 10th. I suppose in time I'll grow to be familiar and feel the little changes. If we get a good summer I'll certainly give myself plenty of tracktime, got several bottle of fuel sat in the garage itching to be used!!!

Few pics of my Losi 2.0 buggy, just finished today
running a neu castle 1512 1.5y 1800kv motor, mamba monster speedo, flightmax 5 cell 30c 5000 mah lipo, yet to add a buffering bit of foam in the battery tray, i dremelled the battery tray at the rear to fit the switch, its a nice tight fit as i was scratching my head where to fit it.
thanks must go to Marvin & crew for lots of helpful advice and pointers in the right direction
yet to run it as its been raining all afternoon, so just a few short blips on the hall carpet almost crippling the dog in the process ,looking forward to running it indoor at Caldicot Friday night, lower the ride height,up the shock oil weight, thin front anti-roll bar and i should be good to go :woot:

Yours truely drifting through T1 at the first round of the unofficial danish nationals. 45min final, 2 pitstops, 2 year old car, Tekin 1400kv buggy motor, 6S battery. Motor temps were 90 celcius and speedo at 50 (with no fan) after 45 mins of hard driving. A little hot on the motor side, but these motors, unlike 1/10th motors, can handle the heat. Finished 8th, would have been 6th hadnt it been for the stops which cost me 3 laps. Well pleased with the result given it was my first ever 45 min final. 45 mins is not quite as easy as the 5 mins I'm used too :)

And another action shot:
http://hempel.megapixel.dk/foto/5524...m/DSC_0512.JPG
Car flew dead straight and true despite the heavy battery as can be seen here :)

Pictures courtesy of Soren Hempel, one of the other drivers.

love the action shots man... congrats on finishing 8th... that's still pretty good in my books haha
