Tamiya 1/10 R/C Hotshot 58391

I know this is not a new buggy, but it's great that Tamiya re-release this buggy....

that was my first buggy ever :)

58391 1/10 R/C Hotshot found it at tamiya USA

They started slow with some boring (to me) re-releases, but are really impressing me with these great oldies returning. Awesome.

"the eye-catching Hotshot 2WD buggy" - They really know their stuff

AaronR 18-04-2007 11:21 AM

Looks like Tamiya caught their mistake REAL quick!

jimmy 18-04-2007 11:25 AM

haha, darn it. Surprised they caught that one!:D

Twister 18-04-2007 04:00 PM

yes!

I really hoped Tamiya should come to their senses :eh?: and release the Hotshot.. In my mind the coolest looking buggy ever! Driving it is not that hot, but sometimes looking good is all it takes;) Right jimmy? Well i'm gonna buy a heap of hotshots, cheers:cool:

jimmy 18-04-2007 04:03 PM

I got the HotShot II when I was about 11 / 12, and it was great - ok I really wanted the original but I missed out and had to get the not quite as cool 'II' - but now I have the chance again! yay

pininy 18-04-2007 04:10 PM

:D it sort of bring back memories....... I'll get a few :)

losidan 18-04-2007 08:37 PM

i remember the first time i ever went to batley buggy club..it was with my brother who had got a hornet for chrimbo....the hotshot was THE car to have then.....I gotta get me one of these

budgio 18-04-2007 10:07 PM

Tamiya heard my prayers !!!!

Now an ORIGINAL Avante - talking about the best looking buggy ever - and I'm in Tamiya heaven !!

P.S. : Not talking about the daft looking DF3 Avante

jimmy 25-04-2007 12:53 PM

Is that a statement of your wish or that there actually IS a avante re-release? That would be nice!
Bring back the bigwig! haha

I have a mint original BigWig laying around somewhere so no need to re-release it for me :D

They have been some roumours on various Tamiya fansites about an Avante re-release, but given the tooling costs for that car and the fact that there is a DF3 version now (bwèèèrk) I'm affraid it'll never materialize. :( . Shame

jimmy 25-04-2007 01:20 PM

I know the bigwig was suppoed to be a bit 'wank' on the track, but I love the look of it, and believed the hype that it was the ultimate racer.. lol :D

Nice TMS chassis kit there, only the second one I've seen still around apart from my own.

Love the way they completely forgot to included any way to mount the body on it, imagine any company forgetting something so fundamental these days.

Anyone interested in a chassis kit for the rerelease?

Dirt-Racer 25-04-2007 11:23 PM

I think that could be a good project for someone to mass produce eh terry? (good to see your still around) :D

I remember someone made an aluminium chassis frame which had lots of holes in it to lighten it up a little, not sure who made it but i dont think it was trick bits?

dallasv8 26-04-2007 08:34 AM

ive only recently picked up a parts hotshot so i could complete the one i had.now i think ive pretty got enough to make 2 cars.
i also got the crp front arm brace off ebay and an old parma slipper kit for the hotshot.apparently the slipper just works by the amount of tension on the wheelnut so i dont think ill worry with that.

ive got a friend with a chassis that has the twin shock setup on front and rear,i just have to convince him that its going to a good home :)

if the re release is a replica of the old,ill be able to get a body :)

and a new one,it would be cool to see a hotshot with a set of holeshots flogging around with the bj4's and losi's lol.

BORMAC 27-04-2007 12:11 PM

What Im dieing to know is----will it be the same car? I mean will the car be very faithful to the original?

reading the description on the Tamiya USA site, I'm guessing it will be like the Frog re-issue. There Tamiya changed some small things like the dogbones and shock internals to make it more reliable/cheaper, changes that do not ruin the vintage/original look.

TRF_Tastic 27-04-2007 01:49 PM

The Release does say improved chassis design, so could mea anything.

jimmy 27-04-2007 01:51 PM

Cells are a lot bigger than they used to be so maybe there is a little more room?

dallasv8 12-05-2007 01:53 PM

http://tamiyablog.com/ i wonder if the df-03 hotshot pictured there is what the new one will be?

sosidge 12-05-2007 02:54 PM

Lot's of things on it make me think you might be right, it has a real "factory" look to it...

http://tamiyablog.com/uploaded_image...hot-716231.jpg

- Different coloured wheels, look too good to be a dye or paint job on existing white wheels.

- Very professional Hotshot/DF-03 hybrid chassis, you can even see the anti-roll bar links coming out beside the shock tower.

HKP 12-05-2007 06:01 PM

Ahh.. but Tamiya said the 2007 HS will have monoshocks.. I reckon it will be fairly faithful to the original a bit like the 2005 Frog..

sim 15-05-2007 03:32 AM

Nah, it wouldn't be called a re-release if it was this different. It'd just be called a Hotshot 2007 or Hotshot 3. This one looks good, but I suspect it's made up by some enthusiast. If I had to guess, it's probably Grahoo. Haha.

I'm thinking the changes are going to be dogbones.

moonloop 15-05-2007 02:51 PM

Hopefully will be shown at the upcoming HobbyShow in the next couple of day....

jimmy 17-05-2007 09:12 AM

Awesome, I love this car. I like how they show what the old / new parts are too..
I wonder if we could get a heat of these racing :)

dirtrider 18-06-2007 09:21 AM

When is thuis thing coming out... I hope it ain't cheapo tamiya plastic but a bit more quality. Price will be about 175 euros I think... it's 28700 yen so... :)

stefke 19-07-2007 01:54 PM

It seems like they're available at rc-champ :

http://sv09.wadax.ne.jp/~rc-champ-jp...601daf3899dea0

Does anyone has a clue what the difference is between those versions ?

BTW, 14.200 Yen is a great price !

terry.sc 19-07-2007 04:52 PM

58391 Hot shot kit 14,200 Yen
58391b Hot shot kit + bearings 15,400 Yen
58391f Hot shot 2007 + ESC 22,300 Yen
58391fb Hot shot 2007 +ESC and bearings 23,300 Yen
58391s Hot shot 2007 low spec complete deal 28,400 Yen
58391s2 Hot shot 2007 high spec complete deal 36,800 Yen

Champ is the cheapest by far at the moment. The easiest way to order from them is to email Masa at [email protected] with what you want and your address and he will email back with a price including delivery.

Isn't the strong pound great.:D

stegger 19-07-2007 09:25 PM

14,200.00 JPY

=

56.7877 GBP

How great is that
Does anybody know if this would incure import taxes etc......

terry.sc 20-07-2007 01:36 AM

Anything imported into the UK from anywhere outside the EU should incur customs duty and VAT. In reality stuff from the US gets stuck in customs and stuff from Japan or Hong Kong usually avoids customs fees. if it's delivered by the post office.

If you are lucky it will sail through customs, if you are unlucky and it gets stopped you will have to pay duty/vat/duty processing fee. This can be as much as £25-35 for a Hotshot kit depending on the fees charged by whoever delivers the kit in the UK. If it gets delivered by Parcelfarce they will charge you £13.50 for 'processing' your customs charges - not bad for sending you a letter

dallasv8 21-07-2007 12:38 PM

Mine left Customs in Sydney around 4pm yesterday - I wonder when it will get to Brisbane?

I only got the standard kit - I'm sure I've got more than enough Tamiya size bearings laying around :D

stefke 01-08-2007 02:15 PM

Just ordered two. One will be a shelf queen next to the Wild One (restored original), Frog and Hornet, the other is going to be a runner just to fool around. :D

dallasv8 07-08-2007 02:01 AM

hotshot
