Here's my install guys;

Running LRP 4800mah 40c Lipos (upside down or the lugs make them too big ) An MRT MX Pro ESC and a Spectrum Pro receiver. I only run on a small indoor track to will using a brushed set-up wth a 12x2 checkpoint. Still gotta find a slot for the transponder, but I can't run the car yet anyway as my shell is away being painted.;)

Comments welcome!

Hi Guys.
Nice instals, wish I had the confidence to post pics of my work. More to the point where are you guys putting the PT's assuming you will use one and I hav'nt missed it in the pics?

trap121 12-10-2009 03:20 PM

I plan to use one, just havent ordered it yet. I will probably have to cut the ears off and stuff in there somewhere. Its a tight fit

JohnM 12-10-2009 03:46 PM

Charlie, the only time I've had to use a PT so far, I stuck it down the side pod near the cells, there is room under the centre-front prop shaft for it though.

discostu 12-10-2009 03:59 PM

how come derek5 has diferent prop shafts to the others in the pics. i hope that durango dont start changing the style or design to regular.

rc_penguin 12-10-2009 04:24 PM

There an option part stu

discostu 12-10-2009 04:53 PM

cheers for clearing that up will i dont know about you but for £445 there should be no option parts.

It's heat shrink. Just a small safeguard in case the grub screw in the universal joint works loose.

Will probably stick mine down the side next to the Lipo.;)

This is the optional alu. shaft though, nice one!

trap121 13-10-2009 01:50 AM

I have my esc connecting directly to my lipo just like everyone else. Is there a downside to this? Someone just mentioned that I wont be able to race back to back because of it. Does it produce more heat this way?

Hi Johm and Jedi.
I tried the PT under the centre drive shaft in front of the spur, it fitted great there room-wise but owing to the close proximity to the receiver it didnt work as it caused interference. Hence my question.
Like you both have now mounted it vertically by the cells but I'm told on good authority (AMB) that mounting in this way (ie vertical rather than flat) can seriously reduce the PT signal and may miss you some laps which somewhat defeats the objective.

maky 13-10-2009 09:57 AM

charlie- ive always ran my pt vertically from day one in my buggy and touring car and never missed a lap yet

WHITTLER555 13-10-2009 12:59 PM

Hello Charlie, I have my PT directly on top of the receiver and it worked with no problem at Southport the other week?

I will post a pic up to show you.

im not sure but he may be on about the mrt ones, well mine throws a fit if i have them close together, well they did before we went to 2.4ghz

CharlieF 13-10-2009 04:31 PM

Hi Damo.
That is so neat and I would say so lucky not to cause interference. My set up was an AMB PT alongside the receiver and apparently it went ape-sh** in practice at Worksop on Sunday.

Rich D 13-10-2009 04:37 PM

I had to move my PT away from my 40 Meg KO 302F in TC as there was interference issues. Laps missed and steering glitches.

Not saying that anyone is wrong, just thought that its worth mentioning.

Rich

CharlieF 13-10-2009 04:40 PM

Hi Rich.
Interestingly you using the same equipment I installed.

Where did you end up putting your PT?

MattW 13-10-2009 05:16 PM

KO 302 (and i think other older KO's, can't remember) go ape sh!t if you have AMB Pt's close to them (charlie - could have told you that:woot::lol:). I found this in my Pred years ago, and also by accident in the Cat last year as well.

GRIFF55 13-10-2009 05:27 PM

my pt was on its side by the lipos at kiddy and it was fine!

I like how you mounted it on the servo....I might have to do that when mine gets here.

my latest electrical setup

full size servo, sxx tc, amb px, spektrum rx - finally happy with the layout

and an "addition" to the chassis to handle the australian summer - well to help the motor handle the hot weather :)

MALLET 15-10-2009 10:07 AM

Ben,

You not worried about the dirt filling your motor up with that cut out?

Tim
