durango biggest lipo
Hi there!
I would like to ask durango owners what´s the bigger lipo that can fit durango ?? I own graupner gm 6000mah 30c saddle packs, would this packs fit in durango ?? Thank you |
The yuntongs i'm using are just about perfect as I'm sure are most (all) brca or roar legal lipo saddle packs. These are ~23.5mm high, and you couldn't get anything much bigger than that in without doing some modification.
They are about 68.5mm wide and you could probably go 1-2mm wider maybe at a squeeze. |
Thank you for the fast answer.
It won´t fit then the gm 6000 pack. Each cell have (L x W x H) 69 x 46.5 x 31 mm. Is there any option undertray for the chassis?? |
No that lipo sounds tooooooo big.
There was mention of someone thinking about making an undertray but I don't know anymore about it sorry |
Get some of the rymart racing chassis tape on there, protects chassis really well!!
|
Can someone post a link to where I can buy some yuntong lipos? I cant find them anywhere
|
The new LRP 4800s fit from what I hear. They're for sale in a lot of stores in the UK.
|
Typical, I just bought a 6000mah 30c saddle pack. It don't fit!!! Aaaarrrgh!!
Would seem the LRP 4800mah 40c saddles are a good option!!! Here's the cheapest I could find; http://www.rccarshop.co.uk/catalog/p...oducts_id=3403 |
DMS do the LRPs for £90. It is just not on the web page. Give them a ring and they should be able to sort some out.

Or you could buy some of the intellect's from Hong Kong.
I got my Intellects 4200 30c for £38.90 each posted arrived in 6 days  |
Where did you get them at that price. Searching the usual places I can't find them anywhere near that cheap.
It would be nice to get a couple of sets if they are that price. James |

They are based in Hong Kong, sorry dont have the link anymore. But they sometimes advertise on EBAY aswell. I know thier UKRC about £10 more but still cheaper than paying GBP of £90 |

Personally i'd much rather pay the extra for the LRPs, they have much larger capacity and ridiculous discharge rate. The 4200s will only get you an 8 minute run with an 8.5. The LRPs should run quite a bit longer than that, especially if running a real mod motor like a 5.5. |

Why would you want to run for more than 8 minutes!? The heat build up will be immense and you would surely cook something eventually!!:woot: |
I use intellect 4200mah cells £39 posted ebay with a LRP 5.5 x12 in 4wd off road and easily do 8mins

I ran mine on Wednesday night in pratice for 10mins running 6.5 x12 When lipo was fully charged it only took 2437 out of them so i cant complain at all for 10min run |

(Check out the 'electric install' thread, I'm posting pics there as we speak!) |
I can´t recommend the LRP 4800 lipo. (Although it fits fine if used upside down).
I did a charge (4,8A) - discharge cycle on 10A and got 3800mAh out of the Lipo - that is exactly the same amount I got out of my GM 4200 Lipo. The discharge curve of both lipos are exactly the same - the voltage of the GM 4200 35C lipo is even a little higher ! Next week I will send the LRP pack back to the manufacturer - but I think all their lipos are overrated. If you have the possibility to check your lipo capacity it would be very interesting to share your results. |
really doesn't matter if there not giving out a full 4800 or what ever as you will use less than a third of that in any normal race, what voltage did you drop them to, and what do lrp use as a cut of voltage??
|
I've used their stick pack equivalents and they have always given me the most ampage. I never run my packs down that low, so the output ampage is my main concern rather than how long I can get that ampage as a constant. This sort of thing is always subjective. Different chargers/dischargers measure differently and many of the manufacturers measure their outputs differently. You also get completely different readings depending on the temperature that you run them at. I've used all sorts of Lipo's, but most of them are made by just a few different companies an then just re-branded. Kokam are the best in the world in my opinion, but again, it all depends on your application. I've run 6S set-ups at 240amps constant and always had to pre-heat my lipo's to get the best from them. All I know is; the LRP range has always given me the best 'punch' and I've never lost a cell yet!!
|
The LRP 40c voltage was a little lower than the GM 4200 35c.
I discharged the cells to 3,5V. I don´t agree that this test is not realistic because I discharge all my 5s and 6s cells like this and they deliver exactly (minus up to 2-3%) of their capacity. If I pay more for a LRP lipo I thought I will get some more power. |
Horses for courses I guess!!;)
|
the performance on a charger/discharger/balancer isn't overly important,as stated different machines will give different results, its how they perform in the car and on the track really,

balancing
How are you guys wiring up your lipos to balance them? I have a LRP and a Intellect saddle pack but dont know how to balance them:cry:

1 Attachment(s)
something like the picture below, then its ust a simple job of charging like you do a stick pack
|
orion are coming out with new 45c saddle lipos and are 25mm high.
I have not built my durango yet, how much clearance do people have with the intellects 4200 at 23.5mm high? |
:woot:Hey guyz. Uhm how do I loosen up the Duranso's drive train goz its very very stiff
|
stop feeding it the blue pill:thumbsup:
PS wrong thread mate! |

will 25mm high lipos fit? |
i use them, Orions 4500 45C and they fit nice in my Durango:thumbsup:
|
excellent dave, thats all I wanted to know
|
I tried to fit those orions and they were 1mm to tall?
|
Reedy Saddle pack!
Guys, I know the dimensions for most of the packs you all are running in the Dex. However, I am coming from a B44 and have two almost new Reedy 5100 packs. Has anyone figured out a way to make these taller packs fit into the Dex's battery strap configuration, or fabricated an optional strap, so that I don't have to buy two new packs?
Thanks! |
The only way is to raise the motor plate:thumbdown:on shims bad idea!
If not the slipper nut amongst other things foul |
on ebay there are some intelec 4200 packs, they should fit.
|
Lower the battery

Thanks for the input..what I wouldn't give for a CNC machine right now! |
you could possibly mill out the chassis 1mm, and 1.5mm for the battery strap. That should give you an extra 2.5mm
still cant fit anything bigger than 4800's though, so it would be a waste of time, unless you want to try the new orions 45c at 25mm high. |
