Losi Slipper Clutch on X6

Seen a few people running these instead of the associated one :)

What are the differences other than the slight adjustments working a bit better with the Losi one :woot:

Can someone give me a list of whats required and i will give one ago.

Will it need a new layshaft or will the associated one be ok?

And will the AE 78t spur still be ok to use??

Cheers

Darren Boyle 01-10-2009 08:02 PM

Gaz, dont bother mate, the AE is far better in my opinion (i have tried both).

If you do......you need losi spur (78), losi pads x 2, losi slipper plates and the losi spring/cup set (A3124 I think from memnory), but honestky dont waste your time it is NO better, IMHO worse.

We have our own range of machined spurs due out any day and these coupled with the standard AE slipper parts work ace (since the slipper pad "locks" in rather than being loose) and also give the most comprehensive range of spur gear sizes available anywhere too!!!! (70 - 80 all inclusive)

lochness42 01-10-2009 08:10 PM

I'm using Trinity BK spur (56dp) and losi friction pads - rest is AE stock.
I belive that it doesn't worth to replace AE spur with Losi one, however it's simple swap. If you really want - you can try.

List what you need - losi spur and pads

Was talking to mr dodd on sunday, great help, great guy and hes using one said he loves it...silly boy hehe!

Problem ive got which is what you may of covered is that the two AE slipper pads might be in the shape of a hexagon but they just dont sit tight enough in the spur gear recess!

Mike Hudson 03-10-2009 10:00 AM

Are these new spur gears coming out machined or moulded?

Darren Boyle 03-10-2009 10:02 AM

Machined mate (for precision).........

YoungChazz 03-10-2009 02:22 PM

Even I can't wait. Darren's promised to send me a 70 for my X - 60 in stock truck. Add a 30-T pinion, and dialed! Big fan helps...

trekkerkk 03-10-2009 03:21 PM

i personally find it far better than the associated one,

trekkker

Darren Boyle 03-10-2009 09:39 PM

Daz

Defo try one of these buddy, thats the main problem with AE Slipper the fact the pads are not tight in the spurs!!!

Matt

So did you have the AE one on for the qualifing last weekend then.........:p
Seemed to improve a bit in the final for you not one mistake i was watching must of been that losi slipper
Pitty i had one grip role issue whilst i was leading it and lost a good few seconds getting marshalled, still finished with a cracking time though but Evison beat me to the flag again!!!!

matdodd 04-10-2009 05:53 PM

Ye I drove clean in the final and did a faster 14 lapper than Chris had done ;) missed your final though sorry dude.

Darren Boyle 04-10-2009 07:07 PM

Mat, maybe the slipper matches the yellow wheels :p ;)

Will sort you out a spur as soon as they come in, I will be sending an email about all the new stuff to the team guys in the coming few days hopefully

matdodd 04-10-2009 07:35 PM

Thanks ,

Yellow wheels are the future though! :p

Kopite 04-10-2009 07:55 PM

i tried yellow wheels once, then washed myself with bleach and wire wool, and went back to white ones.

yellow wheels + supporting Everton = MASSIVE BENDER

andy05 04-10-2009 08:01 PM

No amount of bleach can save you from being a homo

Looks like I beat you by 2 seconds :p

See you at Worksop mate.

matdodd 05-10-2009 07:02 PM

I did say had done mate, I didnt stay to see your final :(
O and I make it 1.5 secs :p had a few more cars to lap than you though ;)

See you at Worksop

super__dan 05-10-2009 08:48 PM

I'm a massive supporter of the Losi slipper, the main problem (for me) is that the B4 spring goes from fully tight to slack in a very small window where as the Losi window is several turns using the hydra spring.

I look forward to using the new spurs but I'll be sticking with the Losi spring.

Kopite 05-10-2009 09:02 PM

I would've thought that the losi unit's main advantage was that it 'spread the load' from the spring to the pads better (as the spring/plastic bits are bigger), therefore making it more consistent.

Losi slipper all the way, with, if i remember rightly, some XXX-NT bits (I think Darren from DMS knows what parts i mean)

matdodd 06-10-2009 12:56 PM

Very mate :( I had a few 2.4 problems and only made 5th:thumbdown:
Made 2nd in the final though so not to bad!

CCristo 09-10-2009 01:57 PM

Chazz,

Any plans to stock these in the X-Factory store (US)?

YoungChazz 09-10-2009 08:38 PM

We have the Losi plates in stock, Chris, because they are X - 5 parts. Also the 3124 spring & retainer kit. Not sure if they are on the store, but E-mail me and we'll get 'em for you.

CCristo 10-10-2009 01:39 AM

Sorry Chazz, I should have been more specific. I meant the machined DMS spurs.

YoungChazz 10-10-2009 02:00 AM

I can't wait for Darren to send me my 70. (Hint, Darren, hint...) Dialed in stock truck!!!

Now where's that 30 pinion?

Darren Boyle 10-10-2009 10:43 AM

Hi Guys, the whole batch of "Stealth" X6/X60 (and B4/T4) fitting spur gears, from 70 tooth to 80 tooh are in production as we speak, should be with us and online in the next 7 - 10 days hopefully, we also have coming the "PRO" range of machined "AE pad" spurs for the X5 coming in 106/108 and 110 teeth too at the same time.

Chazz, I will personnaly ensure that you recieve the very first 70 tooth off of the production line....... ;)

I would of beat both of your times if i hadnt grip rolled once at the end of the striaght on new bloody tires so pipe up :p

Sunday will be close looking forward to it!!

Matt, maybe the problems with the 2.4 the week after were actually the fact you still had your velcro glovs on? Did you take them off for the final ?? Well done

Yes..... they have all arrived into stock this week and have just finished being packaged up. A press release is going out to all of our dealers and many R/C News sites in the coming day or so (including to Jimmy from this very own wonderful site ) and they should start to appear on the internet and dealers stores over the next week now....

I run an X-60 with the Associated pads and the Losi spring/plastic setup. What is a good starting adjustment point for this set up?

Thanks for the help

Stick with the AE, if you use the GT2 spring it eliminates the b4 window springs problems.
