New venue for RVRCCC Preston
Just to let you know RVRCCC raced for the last time at Preston College on Friday.
We will be moving to our new purpose built venue at Ramp City on 2nd Oct We have full use of this venue 7 day a week. The track size is 30mts x 10mt with plenty of room to pit. We will be building permanent pit tables in the near future, until then you will need to bring your own. We have plenty of chairs At the moment we will be running 10th and Mardave on Friday nights as usual. Buggies on a Wednesday night. Large scale trucks (Wedico/Tamiya) once a month. We will also be running a Winter series for 10ths 12th and Mardaves (not sure about buggies) If we have enough interest in running other classes 18th/12th ect we will open another night. The cost will stay the same £5 per night. Doors open 7PM First race 7.30PM Doors close when we finish Remember the carpet and track will be laid down permanently so all you have to do is turn up and race. In two weeks the bar will be open serving "falling down water" and food. We won't be running any classes of cars on the same night as local clubs. If you need any more info please email peterdotcarrollatblueyonderdotcodotuk Ramp City Directions For those travelling from out of town you need to come along the M55 to the very end ( do not turn off at Junction 4 ). The motorway regulations end and it becomes Yeadon Way ( A5230 ), now turn left at the first roundabout ( with metal artwork in the centre ) within a hundred yards or so you will come to another roundabout take the 2nd exit which is Cropper Road . Ramp City WSA is approx. 800 yards along here on the right. Ramp City WSA Cropper Road Marton Blackpool FY4 5LB |

Looks nice and big... Indoor racing esp midweek has big potential to do really well.
Bury indoors attracted 90+ drivers on its monthly meet. Personally as i work for the NHS, find that im working most sundays, but have lots of time off during the week. Bring it on  |
i'd be keen in mid week off road racing only live bolton...

We have ordered £1600 worth of carpet so we don't want it ruined.
The tyres are the ones that Kendal have used for years with no problem. |

Just thought i would add ... Click on map for link http://www.rampcitywsa.co.uk/images/rc-map-small.png Our club fourm to more race details is http://clubforum.rvrccc.co.uk/forums/index.php We are working on building some Jumps for the buggys but these may only come in in the next few weeks. The control tyres are called pro-line Dirt Hawg they will be on sale on the night from me , Ben Knight (Speedy Models) These are tried and tested and do work on carpet but this is to make it fair and to keep the carpet good for other nights such as mardaves. Most importantly i hope everyone enjoys themselves and has a fun evening racing. Thanks Ben |
dirt hawgs??hmm what do they cost a set and how long do they last,
|
Don't hold me to this I have been waiting for Ben to post with the correct price, I think they are £20 per set.
The lads at our club who race with them at Kendal have had them over a year with plenty of grip left, so they represent very good value. |

They should be RRP £10.00 a per with inserts. We will be selling them at £17.00 for a full set. I myself have never used these but i think i am right in saying they should last a full season but i maybe wrong will try and find out more sorry. Thanks Ben |
Ben means season and not session, I hope.

Ben you know he snapped a rear belt and did the last 4 lap front wheel drive only, and lee chorley beet you fare and square lol:)it was a very enjoyable meeting and we should be there again next week, well worth the drive for a mid week blast, get your backsides in gear guys its worth a trip,
|
Agreed, had a laugh, ran the trf501 and the t4 lol.
Who was the peep in the pug 106 driving home very slowly in the outside lane lol.. own up lol... Col. :woot: |
Has it been decided yet if we can run mini pins on the carpet? Im tempted to run the madrat as well as the 501, but dont wont to purchase extra tyres if reqd.
Thanks. Col. |
doubt i can make it tonight, but i am looking into getting some foams that will work at the right price, but mini pins would be easyer and probably also mean more would turn up and race as most will have them and we all no they work,i really think the club are holding them self back in this one tbh imho

I agree though, its a nice size, mid week which is ideal. More racers need to be aware of this venue. Col. |
yeh i meant tomorrow
|
I agree with mini pins being the best option for us buggy racers - not sure I can be bothered messing about with foams :p
I should be there tomorrow with a few others from the 'Big Blue Tent' :woot: |
Apparently the "dirt-hawgs" should work reasonably well on 4wd, but only if well dosed with additive. Might be pants on 2wd.
Don't know if they allow the use of additive. |
Dirt hawgs, were tried very briefly, with no additive, and they were like slicks on carpet, no traction what so ever. I actually bought a set, then when i saw matts cat go around, asked if i could return them.
Additive was added to some of the other cars, but as your only covering the tread , it quickly comes off ( all over the carpet as well leaving big skid marks ). I tried my t4 for a laugh in the final, i put additive on, and it slid all over the show and then just wore off after 3 laps. I know the reason why they dont alloy mini pins, but do they really wear the carpet that much, Thanks Col. |
dirt hawgs were crap just didnt work no matter what you did and totally ruined racing
|
All tyres will be allowed until the new carpet comes, a lot of the lads will be running foams tomorrow.
We my not run now with a control tyre but instead let you run any tyre (not mini pins) The important thing is just to have a good nights racing. When we looked at the carpet on Friday it was starting to wear badly out of the corners. We now have our own forum in the club section, have a look at the form for the N.I.C.S |
