Who Makes The Durango

I've just finished my build, and it was a most enjoyable build

With feeling the quality of the plastic and Ali, I think this was done by K Factory.

It is very well engineered only like K Factory would do.

What do you guys think....

Tim

bigred5765 26-09-2009 09:41 AM

who makes DURANGO,?? durango

jimmy 26-09-2009 10:18 AM

Its designed and 'made' by Team Durango.:lol:

MALLET 26-09-2009 10:53 AM

Ok ok I'll rephrase it,

Which factory has it come out of.:woot:

I still stand that its come out of K Factory

DCM 26-09-2009 10:55 AM

the moulds, they could of been made anywhere, but the designs and the specs are Durango.

Just like, Tamiya don't actually physically make the TRF cars, they are 'machined' outside.

MALLET 26-09-2009 11:01 AM

I appreciate that they will be sourced outside and designed by Durango, all I was suggesting is with the great engineering and quality I would say most of it would have been built in the K Factory.

bigred5765 26-09-2009 11:23 AM

may be the guy that owns durango owns a engineering company??so may be he has them made in house,?

Yeah, maybe in the same place that K-Factory have their stuff moulded, but that doesn't mean anything though.

As for the moulding themselves, it would be a massive investment in tooling.

I heard from a guy who knows a lot of inside details about a lot of cars that it was made mostly in the Hong Nor/Ofna/Hobao factory. They are in Taiwan after all.

Well Durango UK are initially the importers, not the manufacturers arent they... Theyre bound to be involved in development and design now the cars hitting the track all over the UK though ......

point was durango uk are the uk distributors, but team durnango ltd (not uk) is registered in Derbyshire UK, the manual says that company has the rights over copy right etc
just an observation download the manual and read page 73

telboy 27-09-2009 08:45 PM

Wrong!
Team Durango is not part of RCDisco. We share an office with DRadioControl which again is nothing to do with RCDisco.

Durango is Durango - End of.

I was not implying they were, i know there seperare, my post was stating that team durango ltd seems to be a uk company, not an overseas company

DaveG28 28-09-2009 09:46 AM

It is a little odd that Noone ever clarifies what the situation is, only what it isn't, but at the end of the day the only reason I could see for concern would be is Gerd still involved or not, and as far as I can see from Euro's etc he still is?

On the original point of the thread, wherever they are physically produced and by whom, they certainly seem mainly well manufactured, great looking machines, so as Tim originally said would be interesting to know who made them! will find out in the next few weeks as I race against if there as quick as everyone is saying!

jimmy 28-09-2009 09:55 AM

Read the oople review - Gerd is working every day on durango things.

sparrow.2 28-09-2009 09:58 AM

A lot of German companies are based in the UK as you need no venture capital to open a limited in the UK and carry no personal liability if things go pearshaped.

Had Durango (or any other company) have been opened in Germany they would have had to come up with 10k+ just to open and would have been held accountable to that amount max if they had gone bankrupt.

That is one possible explanation. Maybe there is a very much more intricate explanation involving alien technology and Gerd not being human but the limited liability explanation does it for me :)

As an aside, awesome review as always!

Full Metal Jacket 28-09-2009 04:04 PM

My opinion is, many many big big brands (not only RC!), their products are made in China or some other South East Asia countires in order to lower the production cost, we don't question for those stuffs and still pay the same old high prices to get them though cos' we trust the brand.

To be fair, why we need so much worries or concerns about who makes the DEX410!

It's simply a very good kit with awesome German design which at the same time also can help you to get the better results than before, what can you ask for more!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I don't think anyone was "concerned" on which country it was made, read the thread and you'll see it was started due to how high the quality is, and just wondering which factory could do it so well!!

MALLET 29-09-2009 10:11 PM

Cheers Dave at least someone got it....:thumbsup:

I was the quality that I was on about, and K Factory produce some top quality stuff. With the feel of the plastic and the Ali, it felt like it had come from there.

Cheers
Tim

Full Metal Jacket 07-10-2009 06:14 PM

Sorry Mallet, sorry Dave! May be is my misunderstanding!

Tom3012 07-10-2009 08:14 PM

Guess you have never had a K factory front shock tower for a B4.... They're terrible! only good thing id the ally bits and they're not even cnc :woot:

I love the Durango... At the end of the day, it looks worth £500 because of its parts finish

Jedi Master 07-10-2009 08:25 PM

I make the Durango!!!!

Honestly, it took me about four hours!!:thumbsup:

MALLET 07-10-2009 11:10 PM

I now know who make the Durango

Funkymojo 08-10-2009 06:08 PM

There's been much debate as to which taiwanese company manufactures the DEX410....ahhhhh..hong...nor...chooo...pardon me mates...been having a bad cold lately.

James 08-10-2009 07:37 PM

Ive had 5 Hong Nor cars of various sorts, theyve been composed of the most robust plastics and alloys ive ever had
