hi buddy, are you still running the pred?

Tom3012 23-09-2009 06:26 PM

Yes mate 100%, ive just always admired the xx4 and fancied having a blast with one thats all

Tom3012 23-09-2009 09:19 PM

One more thing... Im right in thinking the rear shocks are different to the XXX CR aren't i???

Do the XXX-T rear shocks fit???

ashleyb4 23-09-2009 09:21 PM

Yup.

A

Tom3012 23-09-2009 09:24 PM

And the XXX CR fronts are the same as the XX4 ones??

ashleyb4 23-09-2009 09:44 PM

Yup.

Hi again..

Got the car today and was quite impressed, came with lots of nice ally bits, front bulkhead, outdrave savers and the trinity shock bushings...

I took the car apart as the rear diff was a little ruff... Bit of a bugger taking it all to bits to do just the diff but oh well...

I noticed it hasnt got a slipper? But it does have the clicker, can i simply put a slipper in the car? or do i need loads of new bits and some modification?

Tah, Tom

brookie 24-09-2009 09:47 PM

Access to the rear belt and diff. can be made simpler and quicker by cutting the rear upper chassis cover, at an angle just to the right of the two bolts that secure that cover over the left hand end of the rearward layshaft!
Hope that makes sense?

And the buggy should very definitely have a slipper assembly!
On the other end of the layshaft where your clicker assembly is and with two differing pads dependant on which belt, front or rear.

And it should be fairly obvious with the adjusting nut and cone washer arrangement sticking out the right hand side of the buggy!

ashleyb4 24-09-2009 11:32 PM

Tom should defently have a slipper assembly in it.

Alot of people dont recomend cutting the top belt cover as it decreases the stiffness of the chassis and lets dirt in.

Also remove the alloy bulkhead.

This might sound mad but its not a streat weapon someone has put the xx4 shock towers and wishbones on is it.

Tom3012 25-09-2009 04:26 PM

All the slipper bits were in a parts bag so its now got a slipper:thumbsup:
Ash, why take the ally bulkhead out??

ashleyb4 25-09-2009 04:47 PM

If you dont you will end breaking a front wishbones every run. The white bulkhead is softish so gives a bit of play so reduces the chance of snapping them.

To be fair Ash, Tom (Chris) is pretty good, so he'll not be smacking into stuff on every run, so he should be OK.

If you have spare wishbones to play with the alloy block is OK, wishbones will give in a heavy impact, and are easy to change.

The alloy block will help save the lugs on the chassis in a big run-in.

ashleyb4 25-09-2009 07:53 PM

True but everyone clips stuff even me.

Thanks for the vote of confidence Stu  I think i might invest in some cat sx wishbones, the car came with 1 spare wishbone :p

Kopite 26-09-2009 03:27 AM

I wouldn't run the alloy bulkhead either. It's not just about the wishbones, by running the alloy bulkhead you're risking breaking the chassis on an impact.

i'd rather break a bulkhead for a few quid than break the chassis

tyreman 26-09-2009 07:20 AM

The other reason not to run it is they only came in 0deg and 5deg, where as the white kit one is 10deg kick up.as for setups this is what the team used at all tracks without change this year.

I was under the impression that the metal bulkhead would save the chassis, as it's bolted to it, adding strength across the lugs?
Or does it just put the stress elsewhere?

It moves all of the stress to the lugs

hi m8 ill have my xx4 with me this weekend. just copy the setup off that. uve seen how mine goes. just remember to put a kevlar spur on the car.

t8rtot 26-09-2009 02:18 PM

Yea you'll break the chassis with that and like it was said before the wht plastic is softer and gives more kick up.

Slowly getting the car going, got the CR rear hubs and wishbones along with a new shell en route from DMS

Now the only thing is, what should i paint my shell like !!! I dont really want to use my colour scheme as i dont think it would suit the car, so something else is required!

Losi's look good in white IMO but i dont just want a white shell, anyone got some ideas they can pass on??

Tah, Tom

Look on motorbike helmets manufacturer webs...millions of ideas will come to you.

This one is almost white but with some classy touch, as an example.
