Powder coating brass?
 

Does anyone know if you can powder coat brass, and if so....is there anyone on the forum that could powder coat some brass for me? (LiPo trays, battery straps etc)

For the record, the B44 brass lipo tray costs a mere £25. The B44 also requries a battery strap when running LiPo's so either way a strap was needed..I just chose brass, and I was always aware of the fact that I needed it.

When I bought my X6^2 I was never aware that I would need so much brass, and the car handled like a pig without it.

Yeh, it's reasonable to expect one car going from NiMH to Lipo to need weight but not another?

Im here till 4pm, im working through me lunch today :)

The bulk of the X6 weight is infront of the battery from the back of the ESC, under the ESC and then some people are running lead around the servo....not really "balancing the difference between LiPo and NiMh" is it ;) :)

I believe, and I may be wrong here, that the 'weight' in the X6 is actually used to achieve the same total weight and weight distribution of the car when running NiMH cells as the car was so good with cells in.

I'm sure someone will be along to tell me wether I'm right or wrong...

Id say your probably gonna be loosing about just under a mm of diameter. Spose it depends how thick she sprays it :thumbsup:

These are the exact reasons that i never got it done as they no longer fit. You would have too start off with a piece fractionally smaller than than the oringinal and then the coating would bring them back up to the original size.

In all fairness, if it is a problem it wont kill me to file the inside of the tray really seeing as no one will see the inside anyways :)

My thinking is that the inside of the battery tray isnt visable to the eye anyways??

Cris, as I remember it, you loved the X6 when you first had it...many weeks of love as I recall...maybe I missed something but then you turned up with a B44 :confused:

I put all the weight I need in my X6 for the price of the velcro I use to hold the free roofing lead in! I've spent WAY more weighting my B44...about £40 in all for the same brass bits you run in yours as well I think???

If you wanted weight for your X6 you only had to ask...I'd have given you the lead and the velcro to go with it...for free :p

Seems to me you feel a little scourned by your x6...like it cheated on you or something (I notice it's gone on to win some events in a far off place since with it's new owner ;))...maybe it's time to move on...let the pain go...

Why has my powder coating thread been whored out by the X6 brigade?

The first week I used my X6^2 I did really enjoy it, but every week after there where little things that annoyed me about it.

The fact is that I dont have an X6^2 anymore, I didnt really get on with it, and yes it is doing quite well in various countries....but then again so is the B4.

My B44, S2, B4 and even the ZX5 didnt require me to come onto oOple and buy some extra CVD's cos the B4 ones were to short.
The S2 used to do well enough with no lead in the back at all!
The B44 works very well without any lead at all, ask Bill! I just wanted to see what the difference made was...but I didnt have to buy the brass for fear that the car wouldnt handle well without it...it does handle well without it..thats why Bill is still all over me at Caldicot!
The fact of the matter is that the X6^2 DOES need weight in it to get good results..and without all that weight I didnt enjoy racing it.
There are afew other reasons I didnt like the X6^2 anyways, but I wont go into them incase I hurt any of the X-Factory lovers feelings.

anyway the test piece was only alu so there was no point infiling in but it wouldnt be a problem filing the brass ones.

Here we go again....

Take a quick look at the national results from this year. Mark Stanley run's his X6 'light', I believe as close to the weight limit as possible. He finished 8th in the championship, with an excelllent 2nd at Southport, and only competed in 4 rounds so didn't get to drop a score.

To me that is a 'good result'.

The B4/B44 are run heavy as this yields the best results, but good results are still achievable without the weight, SAME as the X6. To say the X6 needs the weight is a complete lie, as proved above.
