screwfix direct b and q makro |
If you have a costco anywhere near you they do great little ones for about £60, same as the little Wolf ones.
Or B&Q used to do their one little one for £50, again same as the Wolf. |

bit dearer but go for the £150 one its 4 stroke and higher wattage, i have the 2200w one and it powers my small compressor too with any of them i would advise the use of a surge protector. |

I worked out, about 4 chargers, as I run off PSU's
|
How about a psu with a soldering iron, charger, smart tray and laptop?
|
You should get more than 4 chargers I think, we normally have 3 or 4, plus a tele and other stuff charging

Generators
Check out your nearest Aldi Store if you have one.
Generators @£49.00 Lindsay;) ;) |
I heard that the kipor ones where really good, about 150 i think.
My question about this lot is, What do people think the power rating in Watts would be if i were to run. 2 chargers, my laptop, soldering iron and a 500Watt heater (for when it gets cold, im from the south you know and its warm down there) ?? Do you think that a 980W would suffice? Ta Danny x |
Generators
Danny, Having lived up North for the past few months you should know that we Notherners put cloths on when it gets cold
Lindsay;) ;) |
touch and go with the heater mate, when they get to the rated power they start hunting which on the cheap ones will mean the voltage will be a bit spikey, I wouldn't want to put my laptop on that. Make sure you get a surge protector for defo.
I got a 1000W over the winter for £80 off ebay, 4 stroke. The only thing 'wrong' with it is it's louder than I would like. Tested it on an 800W toaster and you could tell it was bogging a little but did run it. Also Danny, running a 500W heater will use loads of petrol, you'd be better getting a gas heater to be honest! |
|
danny the kiss is a bit worrying!!
buy a thicker jumper!! most generatoer ratings are peak and not continuous as above rated at 1000 but on its limit for 800w the one i posted would do both for you i prefere 4 stroke as no messing mixing oil and no smoke |
yeh i want a kipor gennie
|
I am sure that Brian Preddy (Tyreman) knows a good source as he tracked down Ellis' one.
Talking of Ellis, as he is some kind of bod in electrics, he always quotes to me what a certain rated generator can supply in terms of amps, etc... Can't remember though - sorry! With all these generators running next year, staying warm wont be a problem - it will be the fumes!!!! |

Danny, that's like a site generator, will be massive, loud as fook (like pitting near Butch's one :( ), use a shed load of fuel etc.
Sack off the heater idea and get a smaller one, anything up to 1KW will be PLENTY. You might even get your hair straighteners to work on it ;) |

watt diveded by volts = amps, so 1000 watts div by 250 volts = 4 amps dont think thats what will supply your chrger though as thats 4 amps on a 250 mains output |
At 12v a 1kv generator should easily supply approx 75 amps by my calculation. ( I think its watts/volts = amps)
Someone please shoot me if i'm wrong:D |

Both myself and Ellis use the Kipor 980 camp mate.
Off one generator we once ran 5 power supplys with 2 chargers on each one and it was fine with 4 of us charging off it. At Nationals 1 run 1 14amp power supply, 2 lrp chargers, soldering iron, motor dyno, desk fan and my laptop and it uses 5 litres of fuel over the weekend. Ellis ran 2 10amp power supplys with chargers, his laptop and a 500watt skirting board heater through the winter. |
Those kipor jobbies don't look a bad size either... hmm... How about one of those woOdy?
|
Ebay!

The Kipor 980 are hard to find at a reasonable price at the moment, but if you spend a little more £219 will get you this posted.

B&Q one seems to have been a clearance item, appears that they have none left. I have found Aldi has one, I will be checking this out Monday. You can find Kipor 980 on ebay for £150 plus £10 p&p if you look hard enough |
