UK Micro Challenge
I see you are going to be in attendance at UKMC3 Jimmy. Look forward to seeing some of your action shots mate
|
sports halls are never the best places but i'll do mi best! :) There are 3 of us going down, me, vicky and john price - all racing in the same class but with random cars. I think john is the only one with a mini-t.
CML were kind enough to lend me one of their FTX Blaze buggys - the same one in fact that won the event last time! :D not much to live up to then.. haha |
Have you actually tested it yet Jim?
Knowing you, your probably going to turn up on the day, miss your practice, and go blind into heat 1, in true Jimmy syle :D |
no it's still in bits john - same as my truggy which I am racing like the week after or somet. :D
I might actually get this built before I go - you never know! :):):) |

you love that new spangle stuff dont you! lol
|
It's pretty!
|
Haha :o are you two sat in seperate rooms or can you see each other?:eh?:
Yes it is pretty cool. Look ace in sunlight! You two still going on sunday? |
Yep, looking forward to it as well, although I haven't seen my little diddy machine for a while, and I don't think it is quite as spangly as yours.
See you there! Vicky |
Just working on the report at the moment - I got some photos and vicky did a big report which I'm editing and adding-to at the moment.
We all had a good time anyway. It was fun to race something a little different and see new faces. |
Just want to say a HUGE thanks to Jimmy and Vicky for the AMAZIIING t-shirts and stickers they provided (and cut out :p ) for todays event!
Hope you both had a good day today, and hope to see you both again at some of the future events? Cris |
Yeah, it was a fun day once again.
Well done to all the team that put it on again and laid out an excelent track. Those little beasts can be tricky to master though. looking forward to the next one now.:) |
Thanks Cris, We had a great time, the day went so quickly. It was fun racing in a completely new class, although I suprised myself by actually outqualifying people (I am still fairly convinced that was a computer error). I enjoyed driving the mini machine, which although it was challenging I felt to improve throughout the day. The reverse function perplexed me somewhat and I still can't grasp which way I am supposed to steer when reversing. Ahh well, I like the trophy, must be the first time I've won a trophy in a final with more than three people in it!
Big thanks to everyone who participated in organising and running the event. |
Yeah thanks Cris! great day.
Vicky was ace - 2nd!!! amazing. She normally goes mental when there are other people to race against, and no matter her qualifying position ends up last. This time she was actually faster than people! insane. :D:D:D |
Cant wait to see the pics you took and read the report!
Like I said to Vicky, the pics in your Photo's section have been a great resource for trying to emulate 10th offroad tracks, the Euro's and Batley Indoor to name but afew! Was a pleasure to meet you both ;) |

Thanks for the report Jason! Was nice to meet you and finally put a face the name!
See you and your M18T in the future hopefully! |
Bit of a crazy day, but i enjoyed it.
Shame I couldn't make a servo last 5 mins :( Anyone know who imports Hitec, I need some gear sets:rolleyes: |
Isnt Hitec Helgar???
Jimmy/Vicky, Once you have watermarked the images is there any chance of you emailing me everything you shot yesterday for my own personal consumption? And, once the oOple review goes up let me know and ill post the link in my forum for you :) |
|
Good stuff - who was that photographer with the grey 'rb products' fleece?
|
check me out leading them all over the tabletop with my RTR! :p
|
Hello A bit gutting about the tyre on the motorway chris but hey it shows the driving skill being able to be competsative at the highest level with a car you have drvien very little and you had no pratice either well done chris.
A P.S. get your indoor final pics up first;) |

The guy in this photo? I can't see properly but I think its steve bass, not sure if he was taking pics for racecar or not. |
Yes that's Steve Bass and yes he's writting the report for RRCi, as I was busy racing and running around with the video man to make a DVD of the event.
Photos will be used from Steve, myself, Anthony Barra and used in the magazine report, then all will be released to Cosie for him to use as he sees fit, as per previous two events. Some pics and text have been sent to CML for use on their web site and I see they've already posted them. Nice to see you Jimmy and Vicky, didn't know you'd blagged Olly's Blaze, you jammy boy ! Keep up the good work. Dez |
Photos and report going up now - might tidy it up later but its 9pm and I've not eaten yet! I'm starving! :eh?: (this link might not work for a few minutes yet, so beware)
UK Micro Challenge - REPORT Nice to meet you also Dez - you did a good job with all the organising and making the event what it was. All the sponsors made it rather cool - three of us went down and all three of us came back with a prize of some sort and free magazines! bargain! |
Great report jimmy, sounds like a great event, i would like to go someday when i get my micro sorted :D
|
*bows down*
Jimmy/Vicky, that report is ammmazing! And the piccys are great. Thanks ever so much :) |
Wow amazing report.
Thank you so much Vicky and Jimmy! A lot of effort goes into reports of that quality but we all appreciate it! :) |
Great report and pics Jimmy
@ c0sie: put on a bit of weight Cris? |
Brian,
Well..the Blaze only weighed in at 656g so I was quite happy with that ;) Cheeky git :p |
|
Great day! Was good to qualify overall 6th in the brushed A-final but in my
finals i got stuffed after first few corners and was left on my roof in 10th :( After a marshall rescued me i pulled it up to 7th. A bit gutted that i got turned over and left behind but that was going to spoil my great day! Good job Cris!! LOVING the pictures Jimmy & ammazing report  |
Cheers mate - I quite fancy one of the Blaze cars now, Just don't think I'd have time to race it really.
|
Some nice pics there Jimmy and Vicky, even some of my car, not often that happens I can tell you, you probably have the same problem, millions of pics of everyone elses car and none of your own.
Go on get a Blaze if you can, and find a local mid week club to play with, my local club in Leamington are a great laugh and having a mid week highlight really helps break up a long week. See you again soon I hope. Dez. |
Hehe, yeah Glypo got some nice ones of my car on sunday - but it's not often I get a photo I must say.
I am fancying one more and more - I saw LRP do a 'team' version with some hopups and a clear shell - is there a BLAZE like this? or do I have to get a ARTR version and upgrade it / buy a shell? Even if I only got to race in the kitchen it would still be ace. I've got a mini Frog and vickys RC18t - but they aren't a patch on the Blaze I raced. Just what I need - another car to add to the 50 others piled up in the kitchen :D |
The Blaze ARTR needs few upgrades, in fact most just make it heavier so get the alloy hubs, carbon steering link and alloy drive shafts and you have one super sturdy race car, the rest of the options are upto you, like the graphite tub and such like which save weight, but the ball diffs are certainly worth a look as they let you dial in the handling beautifully.
|
Yeah I noticed one or two with loads of alloy on their cars - not really good for racing... :D Might sell a couple of things (like the mini frog) and get a blaze - not sure there's any where to race it round here but I'd be up for the micro challenge again.
|
Get steel CVD's from FTX..the alloy ones are poo and bend so easily.
Im working on UKMC4 so rest assured it will happen aswell as the Series lol |
