Phone up grade today. Any ideas?

As the subject suggests. New phone needed but not really been paying attention. Im on orange and wouldnt mind staying there so an I-phone is out the question as im sure they couldnt match what i have already

Cheers

I would have only reccomended an iphone, they are well worth every penny :)

Nick Goodall 07-07-2009 11:34 AM

The new Nokia 5800 is pretty good as an alternative to the Iphone, lots of cool App's available and it's great as an Mp3 player!

Is that what you have Nick? Or is it mearly something you have heards not bad?

Lee, I have an itouch so im not that fussed about the phone itself. Maybe where they are a bit cheaper, or the bill wont take funds from the house saving :)

Lee 07-07-2009 11:53 AM

It's got GPS, bluetooth, decent camera, google os so there will be loads of upgrades and new functions coming out. Not sure about the curved bottom bit but it looks pretty smart: http://www.htc.com/www/product/hero/specification.html

My mate works at Vodafone and brings home different phones every couple of weeks - I was having a play with the 5800 all afternoon Saturday and really liked it.

Definitely the best "Alternative" to an Iphone that i've seen.... Lee has the HTC Magic i believe and that seems pretty cool too though to be honest.

Why not just go down the local shop and have a play?

wacattack 08-07-2009 07:40 AM

No contest, iPhone all the way. I've had loads of different phones in the past, but they don't even remotely compare to the iPhone. I pay 35 a month and get unlimited free texts including mms, unlimited data, 300 mind free calls to any number, and unlimited calls to 10 landlines of my choosing.

Lee, how the hell are you spending 300 a month, that's just ridiculous and surely virtually impossible given the free minutes you get on any iPhone contract

wacattack 08-07-2009 07:43 AM

Oh yeah, 5800 is ok as far as phones go but doesn't even do 1/10th of what an iPhone can. My wife has the 5800 and wishes she got an iPhone instead. Only benefit of the 5800 is that it's cheaper

Matt Alcock 08-07-2009 08:21 AM

nokia N96

jimmy 08-07-2009 09:19 AM

How? :eh?:

Southwell 08-07-2009 11:04 AM

The thing that annoys me with O2 is you pay £35+ a month and only get 500 texts, what use is that to anyone!?!!? They are ripping people off.

Lee 08-07-2009 11:21 AM

Yeah i pay the extra 7 quid and get unlimited, but its only useful if im in the uk, which is great 4 days a month

Southwell 08-07-2009 11:38 AM

My mates so despirate for me to get an Iphone he offered to pay for my bolt on for unlimited texts lol.

Lee 08-07-2009 11:46 AM

Southwell 08-07-2009 12:53 PM

Ok, i say that, but im about to phone Orange to see how much it would cost to get out my contract (3 months left) Im a sucker for shiny new things. :wub

ben 08-07-2009 01:11 PM

Southwell, think my mums just bought hers out because of a new contract. I have a feeling you will have to pay full price for the months remaining. Hers was ment to end in november

Southwell 08-07-2009 02:34 PM

Ooh, £41 to cancel next week, not too bad.

Lee 08-07-2009 03:08 PM

Less than an hours work to you, just do an extra 20 mins each night to pay for it and its free then :)

I like your thinking haha!

blue_pinky 08-07-2009 03:53 PM

I too have had many other phones...but the only phone I'd get to replace my iphone with....is another iphone!

I agree they have us by the short and curly's a little with the deals, but it's soooo much more than just a phone, I've never looked back!

mattym0310 08-07-2009 04:19 PM

has anyone else had problems with signal on an iphone? my mate has one and the signal on it is rubbish compared to a standard samsung I have on the same network

blue_pinky 08-07-2009 04:24 PM

Nope, although 3G coverage can still be sketchy in certain places, but that doesn't affect calls at all, only data.

Southwell 08-07-2009 05:34 PM

Ordered. :p:woot:

Lee 08-07-2009 05:56 PM
