Judge me, please be kind
OK so i got bored yesterday and did this, what do you all think
this ones for sale also |
I had a good look at this shell today at Batley, excellent work mate. The pic doesn't do the silver outlines justice. Was a very nice job.
|
very nice indeed. the skull on the front isnt my thing but it is still cracking
|
did you use a stencil for the skull, but am definately liking the tribal stripes on the side, they look ace, right choice of colour and corking chrome pinstriping.
|
Looks nice although I'm more of a pretty flowers kind of girl than a skull girl...!
I like the colours though, very... aesthetically pleasing! |
thanks guys and gals for the kind comments,
PS emzy next one will be more a girly one just for yaw |
alot better thn i can do mate, nice one 7/10 id say. :)

tribal stripes i ripped of another free template, but had to copy them over free hand, the pinstripes were the worst took hours |
Man if you can do this when you're bored then when you're inspired you will be the best shell painter alive.First class job.
|
looking pretty smart, like the skull. As DCM said right choice of colours.
pinstriping is a pain in the rse! |
tell me about it i hate pinstripes, but it adds another dimension to the scheme and i need more practise on them, wish someone would invent a easier way of doing them.
|
I have even tried automotive pinstriping tape, and it works.... in a straight line, or gentle curve, but flames etc, just don't bother.
Whats worse, cutting the pinstripe, or de-masking.... |
..ooh, erm.
I think its the 'de-masking' with liquid mask....depending on what paint is used.... and the cutting with masking tape. |
Fine job BIG RED
DCM.....id say pinstriping as i love de-masking(you get to see the finished result) the answer to both of these is BOB DIVELYS masking solution its the best ive encounterd....and makes painting easy even if you remove the wrong bit it resticks like tape just wash the shell first with a little fairy (you know what i meen) make sure its well rinsed and dry paint on a layer (brush if you like) of BOBS and let dry over night repeat again so you have 2 layers fully dry trim and paint away till your hearts content (spirit or water/acrylic based) examples....... www.rc10b4.com/gallery/showphoto.php/photo/2701sort/1/cat/500/page/2 www.rc10b4.com/gallery/showphoto.php/photo/2030/sort/1/cat/500/page/1 |
So where is Bobs available from?
|
I could do better with a felt tip pen............:o
HAHA no only joking Carl it looks awsome. just like mine i may need a b4 one doing in my colour scheme soon. A |
nps ash just pm me ill sort it,
i use bob divleys its ace, takes some getting use to but results are ace |
schuwolf,
get it from ebay from the states. just type in bob divelys and you should get some results. I get mine from 'rcboyz'. |
how much is shipping Tel?
|
dude you can get it here in the uk
je spares sell it in 1 pint bottles and i know everything airbrush are trying to get it in for me http://www.jespares.com/catalog/prod...roducts_id=786 |
can you use it with masking tape too?
|
you can but i really couldn't see any reason why you would have to
apart from, name decals etc |
Yeah, snap. I never use masking tape any more.
Just looked at the je spares site. Do they only stock the 16oz bottles? i normally buy 3x 32oz bottles. complete with the shipping costs it works out at £16.66 per bottle. The 16oz ones are £10.99 from jespares. If they can beat £16 on the 32oz then I will start getting it from them.;) |
I tried RC-boyz earlier, they only had the parma stuff on there, I bought some of the JE Spares to give it a bash
|
make sure you let it air dry some were warm. i tried to force it and it doesnt seem to like it,i spray mine on with a cheap gravity feed spray gun £8 or so of fleabay that is the one i use, or £21 from everything airbrush clicky link
|
I was thinking more, that as a shell comes in, I can wash it and mask it before doing the design.
How do blades survive with Dively's and how many coats. |
I brush it on, about 3 decent coats. make sure its even though, it doesn't like thick lumps all over the place.
Blade wise, they seem to last forever with the stuff as its a lot, lot softer than the masking tape. If you use tamiya with it, it does seem to soften it a little and make it a pig to work with sometimes. pactra and faskolor are fine. |
ace, well I got some Dively on it's way to give it a bash, and a spray gun to, can always use it for other things I guess to.
|
thought I'd ask someone who knows, is a compressor absolutely necessary? I'm planning on using faskolor paint and I'm guessing those cans probably aren't up to the job?
|
A friend of mine once tried using a spray gun with air pressure supplied from a car tyre. This worked superbly for about 20 seconds and then the pressure was not enough for a good spray.
On the positive side, he grew some excellent leg muscles... |

you can go to b&q warehouse or something similar and get a cheap compressor for 50 quid or so tried tyres cans all sorts but compressor is the best way and for £50 is it worth messing about
|
I don't think the cans of air would have enough pressure anyway for faskolor.
deffo buy a cheap compressor. it needs to be one where you can alter the pressure realy. I used to have one of the hobby compressors that closed up into a little carry case, but even that wouldn't spray faskolor. i got mine for about £60 and its fine and also works a load of other stuff to. |

B&Q have got a small 6ltr 1.5hp comp on special at the mo think its less than £50 save all the playing about on ebay. Not only that if it gets a fault u got somewhere to take it back!
HTH's |
I use a Ripmax compressor, seems ok with Faskolor. Have used cans of propellant in hot water with a cheap airbrush and got reasonable result.
|
Here's one I did earlier  I needed a quick shell and blasted on some Faskolor Copper Flake then Black with a cheapo air brush and propellant. Looks good in sunlight!

so what is the effect of having too little pressure? splattering?
|
splattering, yes, and if you got a siphon airbrush, when the pressure drops too low, it won't even spray. It is doable, I have, but the work needed and cost far outweighs ANY bennefits.
