speed camera vans

Do all speed camera vans have to have an open window/hatch to aim the gun through.
I was just leaving the village on my bike going to warp factor 2 with just 50yards to go to national limit when as an oncomming lorry passed me the van became clear. Too late to significantly slow down although the breaklights lit up like afterburners.
I decided to go back and offer my congrats on a snidey place to hide, behind a bush when I noticed the van had no appature for the camera to aim through. Am I lucky or can they photo you through blackened glass
by the way this is what we have to face in North Wales

Absoloutly gutted for you mate. they do the white van with a black rear window trick near us and yes they can get you.

What was really disturbing is last week i was coming through warrington and there was a car with the bonnet up and hazards on as if broken down. BUT when you get passed it they had a speed camera on a tripod shooting through a hole in the bonnet.

bodgit 22-06-2009 03:51 PM

meanwhile while they are collecting £ donations an oap is being burgled and the local drug runner is free to do his deals .

mole2k 22-06-2009 03:58 PM

Over in NI they are supposed to be clearly visibile at all times, they arnt allowed to do the sneaky tactics like that.

millzy 22-06-2009 04:04 PM

The other day going to work i noticed a white van that looked like it had broked down on the side of the road - the rear windowns where metal coverd - but the camera was in the drivers side window pointing to the cars on the other side of the road

I live in Penyffordd but the horseboxes are out anywhere in N.Wales.
Local radio had the police on a while back when they said they would be out every weekend till October to ensure bikers safety.
The other weekend my lad and I rode to the horshoe pass and were amazed to see a policecar with gun in somebodies driveway.

stegger 22-06-2009 04:40 PM

This is what annoys me about the police not just in northwales, i wouldn't mind if i got pulled for doing wrong. It's the fact that they are so underhand know and you don't get notified of the offence upto 2 weeks later

bigred5765 22-06-2009 04:45 PM

sneek in to the woods and let there tyres down,B tards

RickRick 22-06-2009 05:17 PM

Gibsy 22-06-2009 05:31 PM

mole2k 22-06-2009 05:38 PM

I know somebody drove into the police at the bottom of his lane, they used to sit down there at night with the lights off he went flying down around the corner and piled into the back of them.

mich-blitz 22-06-2009 05:42 PM

lol

lol thats a good 1 but my dads skyline had i film on it that stoped cameras from seeing it also a mate of my dad had a car and the numberplate would change over when he hit a buton lmao

Chrislong 22-06-2009 06:13 PM

They say they can't get you with sneaky tactics, its entrapment. but what they do is get you so far away, that you haven't even seen them! I got done from something like 800yds last time.

Plus, the camera vans etc have no discretion, and are literally there to earn money and meet quotas. Get caught by a PC and they can give a warning if it fits: Ive had a warning. Although nowadays, proper Police aren't setting traps, the vans are out instead.

There was one on Walshaw Road the other day, in a real parculiar place as it was aiming at traffic coming through a bend where cars park and few people even go over 25mph. If it was still there when I came home, I was thinking of partially blocking the road while I pretend to break down - go check my oil etc. LOL but he was gone, he didn't stay long atall.

So, my little sisters invisible Ferrari had a large Deflector array on the front which emitted an inverse tachyon pulse which used to distort the space/time continuum thus rendering primitive speed guns useless:p

Lee 22-06-2009 06:22 PM

The film doesn't work, all they do is look at the picture as a negative and shows up the numbers.

As they were on private property, they must surely have been completely at fault.

I recall encountering a speed camera on a stretch of road toward the Titanic Quarter in Belfast - it's the width of a four-lane motorway, has virtually no traffic and no pedestrians, yet had a 40mph limit on it.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the city, there were roadworks at the end of the motorway, with a speed limit and 'kill your speed, not our workers' signs, and people were flying through them at 70mph...and not a speed trap in sight :eh?:

greasy mark 22-06-2009 06:58 PM

gits shouldnt be alowed.but they do have to have tempory planning consent to site a tempory camara and they also have to put a sign up some whare near the camara other wise its entrapment you can also request a calibration sheet for the camara and a copy of the planning consent with out these they can not do you .

DAVIDZX5 22-06-2009 07:14 PM

On the M4 today about 6am this morning between junction 21 - 20 and there was a traffic cop hiding behind a bush and when i went past he was pointing a speed gun out of the window. but im not sure if they go trough the system or do they have to stop you them selves.

Chrislong 22-06-2009 07:16 PM

The vans get around this, by them having the speed camera sign on the van itself.... they are otherwise plain, not "jam Butty" looking.

I've heard the c*nts have the helicopter up everytime it's dry & sunny to catch bikers on the Horseshoe pass...

We sometimes get lucky here in SA. This cop was caught taking a nap.

Yeah they were at fault.

as far as i lnow the horse box isn't the only unmarked speed camera in north wales i belive they also have a shiny blue van a dirty white one that look's like a builders van complete with cement dust and dints and a tiny old citroen ax (never seen that one but then neither did my mate till it was too late )

only ever seam to be interested in bikes but then that is brunstrom for you glad he is going soon

jim76 26-06-2009 09:39 PM

simple solution, don't speed. then you won't get done. I don't personally see why they should have to give you warning they have a camera as people just slow down until they are round the bend and then speed off. If you have no warning then you are more likely to get caught, and if you are more likely to get caught then you are also more likely to think twice.
What is the point having speed limits if they aren't actively enforced?

if one of you has a relative or friend killed by some speeding loony loosing control you would be the first one to complain no doubt.

markwilliamson2001 27-06-2009 10:09 AM

Sorry fella's, but I have to agree with Jim here...
Easy way..don't speed, don't get caught! Simple innit?? :eh?:

I agree that they are using underhand tactics, but this is what it has come to...Static gatso camera's do not work IMO, as people just slow down for the camera, and then speed up again, thats just stoopid.

bodgit 27-06-2009 10:11 AM

Do you 2 never speed or smoke a pipe by any chance

jim76 27-06-2009 07:56 PM

i do speed occasionally if the road conditions seem safe enough to do so. But i won't sit here wingeing if i've been zapped because i know the law. If i'm silly enough to want to break it then i will also be man enough to take the penalty.

It's the same with wheel clampers. All the people that make a scream and fuss because they have been clamped or towed for parking in a red route or double yellow etc. You know you are parked in an illegal spot so why moan when you get punished for it? Just park elsewhere where you are allowed!

I don't have a problem with people wanting to speed (as long as they don't kill anyone) just don't winge if you get caught.

markwilliamson2001 27-06-2009 08:39 PM

Snap! :D point in case...grow some balls!

I agreed most of what you said, except the above statement. Most who get caught, are those who are fully legal road users, who, get caught out be sneaky cameras, that are not there, for the pedestrian and road users safety, but a cash cow. Most cameras we have in Cardiff, Mobile and static, give no bennefit to safety. Whereas the areas that do need them, outside parks, schools etc, are left free.

Also, the loon isn't going to care about camera's, as chances are, not registered, not insured, not a care in the world.

Personally, Cameras should either be everywhere, or in specific places, that are KNOWN danger spots, not on a Dual Carriageway, just after a 70 down to 40 limit.

ageed mate, i dont speed in built up areas but 70 on the motorway is outdated, they should do the arse holes who sit at 60 in the middle lane

Your posts reminded me of this.

clumsysaint 28-06-2009 06:49 AM

we must b lucky in the midlands,we havnt got the dodgy horse trailer camera vans lol.how sneeky is that.....you got to remember though fellas that there must be signswhether they e fixed or mobile signs telling you that theres camera vans operating on any road they sit on,otherwise it is entrapment.

Agreed mate! I think we all agree that those people who are asleep/dozing/not concentrating are all at risk.

Also, its all to cock that an uninsured driver does not face the bill (in an accident), but the legal person who is insured loses their no claims bonus!! WTF!!
