Its all original gearbox, no dremeling needed, just two holes need drilling one for the layshaft coming out the other side of the gearbox, and one for the motor plate.

maxoo 29-05-2009 07:45 AM

Sorry about the yellow wheels ;)[

Manolis has already made one and tested at the euros in italy i think. Pics are on oople somewhere and his had a nice carbon fibre chassis.

GRIFF55 31-05-2009 11:14 PM

those yellow wheels did the trick mate! Car went really well and responded well to setup changes (not many made as it felt goooood!)
Can't wait to get my own now:thumbsup:

OldTimer 01-06-2009 07:30 AM

I think getting the car to 7th in the B final, your best 2wd national result is a good start:lol: and 11th in the 1st round and i think 14 in the last round is not to bad with a bit of guess work on the setups lol.

I guess it did not help i only got to the track 10 minutes before you went on for practice :D

GRIFF55 01-06-2009 08:14 AM

and the driveshaft builder:lol::p

Garry Driffill 01-06-2009 08:22 AM

Thats a great result!

Twister 01-06-2009 09:25 AM

S2 was superb and now this? you are a wizard Jonathan.. I´m biding my time to get my hands on this sweet thing:drool:

Alex H 01-06-2009 01:07 PM

This reversed gearbox thing and the motor mounted the way it is. Is it a considerable difference between having the motor mounted that way it is now or like on the S2 and X6? If so, are you Mr C going to make an 4speed version as well for this machine? Otherwise it going to be a lot cheaper than the S2 I suppose:).

Thomas P 01-06-2009 02:22 PM

A source tells me that as we know the Losi have less steering then the B4, so the opp mount of the Gearbox wount affect so much..

Hi Alex, As per Thomas's post, my thoughts when designing the car were that the B4 has a load of steering, when you move the motor to the mid position and move the cells forward due to the motor now being in front of the diff, you lose a lot of rear end grip, as we found with the 3 gear S2, with the 4 gear S2 it helps redress the balance and generates more rear end grip again similar to a rear motor B4. Remember both the S2 & X6 use the B4 front end.

Now with the xxx-cr its a car that has not got a lot of front end grip / steering, but has a great rear end based around the xx4, so running the factory 3 gear gbox reduces the rear end grip but balances the car out with more front end grip / steering which it lacks. If we used a 4 gearbox on the CR i think we would be back to square one with a understeering car due to the extra grip generated by the 4 gear gbox.

How it runs on low grip nobody knows, but as your not hacking the car / gearbox to bits, its a very simple job to fit the front and rear ends back onto the standard chassis if the cr2 struggles on low grip, but having said that on saturday for the 1st practise when the track was damp with dew, it did not seem to have any real problems, but a true low grip track would be a better test.

And cost wise i think it will be in the region of about half the price of the s2 conversion kit.

Dunc 01-06-2009 05:17 PM

Does this mean its definitely going into production at some point? - I want one!

GRIFF55 01-06-2009 05:31 PM

In that first practice it also had yellow minispikes all round and wasn't that bad. If it had bliks on it would have had plenty of grip in the wet too i think. It had plenty of steering and was a very forgiving car to drive:thumbsup: nice one JC

Thomas P 01-06-2009 06:23 PM

I like it a lot...more Mid motor cars to the market..personaly i like thin cars more :D

EDIT Jonathan @ the race http://www.oople.com/forums/showthre...ewpost&t=24939 any CR2 here :P?

Alex H 01-06-2009 08:14 PM

Thanks Jonathan and Thomas! I am definitely interested in one:thumbsup:
