Hello needed a replacement for my Durango so i made this

its not finished yet but all the hard stuff is sorted (now the fun stuff can begin)
many thanks to Microtech racing for supplying the car a couple of weeks ago in such a fast efficient manner:thumbsup:

mattym0310 20-05-2009 11:04 PM

another great car there scott. What car is it based around?? [gearboxes, wishbones etc.]

ben 20-05-2009 11:09 PM

Bmax

Rebelrc 20-05-2009 11:10 PM

All Bmax with no mods just retro fit and 50/50 weight distribution with any Brca legal lipo saddle
cheers mat:)

nitrokillah 20-05-2009 11:20 PM

Nice job man Looks like an Atomized-Bmax .

keep up the good work .

jimmy 20-05-2009 11:21 PM

awesome - looks really good Scott. That chassis is ace - did you make it or have it made for you?

Rebelrc 20-05-2009 11:21 PM

Properized!:D

ben 20-05-2009 11:28 PM

What's the battery layout going to be like? Is there much room for electrics?

Rebelrc 20-05-2009 11:32 PM

Made it my self....big weave...nice and shiney
cheers Jimmy shame it hasnt got any oople stickers on it!:(
the curvey moulded carbon topdeck/cover is going to look better though if it works (cant see why not)
those towers are 6mm thick

Rebelrc 20-05-2009 11:36 PM

tons of room ben:D
this is a rough guide

jim76 20-05-2009 11:39 PM

i had my hands on this at the weekend. It looks good, and i fitted my demon saddle lipos, an LRP sphere, motor, servo and chunky receiver in it fine.

just get it on a track soon Scott!!

Rebelrc 20-05-2009 11:41 PM

Couple of weeks mate...
cheers for the lipo loan Jim:thumbsup:
Good too catch up with you James

J_WOODY 21-05-2009 09:15 AM

that looks awesome  are you going to put the chassis into production, or is it a 1 off ?

nitrokillah 21-05-2009 10:06 AM

wow that layout looks really intersting . :woot:

might be the next step of Evolition .

Chris Doughty 21-05-2009 10:34 AM

with the motor facing that way, do you need to change the direction of rotation for the motor?

DCM 21-05-2009 10:58 AM

depends on the crownwheel/pinion orientation I guess...?

if its BMAX transmission and the motor is then 'backwards' to how it is in the BMAX, unless you put the diffs it backwards to compensate for this, the motor would need to be reversed

DCM 21-05-2009 11:08 AM

yeah, I understand that Chris, it is far less complicated to swap crownwheel orientation than it is to get the brushless to run properly, backwards.

Chrislong 21-05-2009 11:10 AM

This is possible with the Novak Slyder , possibly others, but I know the Slyder does this for sure.

Like it, looks very Pro... let us know how it performs, I reckon you could sell many conversions... ;)

DCM 21-05-2009 11:13 AM

the new Tekin software does it too, gives you an option to reverse motor direction

Rebelrc 21-05-2009 11:32 AM

just checked it out...scared me there:D
crown wheel orientation swaped as i thought runs the car forwards and motor inertia is transmitted in board to help damp the effect also the transmission spins the opposite way helping to cancel that out.

Rebelrc 21-05-2009 11:35 AM

Yes i have proper moulds for the carbon so should be quite easy to make more
the best bits are still to come.;)

Rebelrc 21-05-2009 11:47 AM

Does anyone know how much the bmax stainless screw kit is from Northy

footey 21-05-2009 12:10 PM

i belive he dosnt do a screw kit for the bmax :(

MHeadling 21-05-2009 04:17 PM

Hey Scott, my b max had stainless screws on it, I made up a kit from a bulk pack of metric screws from Rc Screwz, you get a big box of all sizes in M3 from 6-25mm so enough to do 2-3 cars I reckon

Or look on google at stagonset they do nice Ss screws and uk based

Rebelrc 21-05-2009 04:19 PM

Cheers Mark:)

ads0021 21-05-2009 09:51 PM

That is seriously cool!! That must have taken a fair few evenings!! Cant wait to see it up close!! If only I could find the time to finish my projects.

Rebelrc 21-05-2009 10:26 PM

Cheers Adam....4 evenings
side by side with my durango my new car is
Cheaper (to me)
slimmer
easier to work on
easier to obtain parts
more durable
better weight distribution
fits all legal lipo saddles...then some
more adjustable
same geometry able
lower polar inertia
One donor (not kebab)
easier radio fit
more droop acheivable

just seemed the right way to go its been in my mind for years
it looks very simple but i have been waiting for the right kind of kit ( spec/price/potential) to come along ....you know me ads not wasting any space to the mm
the bmax was the one, its a great car and i am very impressed with it even as a standard kit

cheers:)

J_WOODY 21-05-2009 10:35 PM

Have you got a bodyshell made for it yet? i'm looking forward to seeing this once its all done.... great work and great project  the quality looks superb:drool:

Rebelrc 21-05-2009 10:56 PM

No not yet i still have to make lots of bits
i am planning on a spring loaded tab that you pull and the motor/clutch hinge out for easy cell changing
and some massively curved carbon reinforcing/topdecky type thing thats not near the top! to brace her up a bit
shells only take an hour or so:yawn:
and you know me it will be proper snug:thumbsup:
cheers j woody

This is what i thought you'd have in mind, a curved topdeck/brace would take it to another level:thumbsup:, i may have a go at doing a b-max at some stage, but i'll probably do one to allow standard cell configuration, yours is crazy slim :woot:

Rebelrc 27-05-2009 03:21 PM

Having a few problems with time and the carbon bracing at the minute
i will crack it though....

Rebelrc 27-05-2009 07:29 PM

Mould number8 just finished:yawn: hope this one works....there £80 a pop.....feeling kinda skint

ben 27-05-2009 07:42 PM

So you've spent £640 on moulds so far?

Rebelrc 27-05-2009 07:53 PM

There has been 10 so far:thumbsup: those 8 have been for one pain in the backside bit:D

J_WOODY 27-05-2009 08:04 PM

£80 per mould is very cheap! if you went to a company like fibre-lyte, they'd be more than double that price + vat:(. hope your latest mould works out for you, i'm looking forward to seeing the finished conversion

Rebelrc 27-05-2009 08:23 PM

Cheers Woody.

OldTimer 27-05-2009 09:41 PM

Looking forward to seeing it :)

I did wonder on the earlier photos how you were going to brace the front and rear, i have always thought if you can do it is to have a high wall at the back and slots for the wishbones to hang out of, i.e. the tub wall carries on until the very back of the car, and simlar at the front.

A bit like this http://www.fibre-lyte.co.uk/fl/cars/...r4tcsdtub.html

Would be such a clean design ;)
