Hey Guys,

I'm a relative new comer to oOple, and even fresher to off-road, but it seems like any painter who's a painter has a thread on oOple, so I thought I'd kick off my own.

So Just started racing off-road at the Pro-Line Dirt Arena in Bicester so bought a B4, a JConcepts Illuzion and adapted my touring car scheeme. Was a bit of a rushed job, but that's ok when it's a personal shell! Metalic Blue with purle highlights and drop shadows, Met. Teal, Met. Orange, Met. Yellow and Coarse Met. White.
I mixed things up a bit, changed the back window to a number plate for the motoX look, and added an air vent on the 'b'-pillar.
I also painted the rear wing, which seems to be a bit un-cool in off road circles- why is that?

Also painted a matching Pro-Line Car Jack stand. Loving the stands these days!

And here's a nother that I did recently.
A Cat SX- probably not what I'd normally paint, it's a transfer of the customers existing 2WD paint scheeme but I brought a bit of my own style to it including the Ghost flames in the black at the back.
It's large flake metalic white, Fluro Pink and at the back is candy/metallic/flat black ghost flames.

I like :cool:

Here's a TC5R box art on a Merc-C from Hot Bodies. MEtallic blue with drop shadows, Metalic Black, Carbon Fibre effect and white, painted lights and grills.

And the same deal on a PF Speed 6:

Another TC, PF R9r in Metallic Lime, Met yellow, Met white, and purple ghost flames.

Been a bit slack posting pictures lately- had alot on!

Here's a on road 1/12 I did recently- it's a Parma Zytec with Red/Orange/yellow double flames over Carbon effect with straight white at the back. Painted lights as well.

A couple of fresh TC's for a local racers trip to snett this weekend.

A new interpritation of the colours on his current body, and the new HB Type B-C shell. White, Black, Metallic Black, Chrome, Fluro Green and Fluro Yellow.

Are you interested in how I've done a particular job, or are you just looking for advise in general? If you're just starting out I reckon you should look at some of the videos on you tube.

Another TC body fresh out the shop:

A PF Speed 6 for a local ace racer- adapted from an existing body- Colours are a bit different and I cleaned up the shape a bit from the previous design- can't remember who painted it- someone in the states? Fluro Yellow, Metallic black and Metallic silver with painted lights/grills/intercooler.

New Shell using the AE theme for Toby, this time in candy metallic red. I can't say how much the photo's don't do this colour justice! It's got a really deep lustre without the pink-ness you normally get with Metallic reds.

Also features White, Carbon effect, Mettallic black and my usual painted lights and grills.

1/8 buggy coming next...........

yeh, i hate the pinkish met reds you get alot. what red did you use? was it a candy backed with silver or just a straight pearl red?

yes, I laid down candy red and then backed it with large flake metallic silver, then backed that with black to make it 'pop'.

Candy's are always best to make metalics really deep.:thumbsup:

For sure with some colous (like red) candy is the best (only?) way to get quality colour. But it's also alot more hassle. I've got a couple of blues and silvers (obviously) that run a sweet metallic straight from the bottle. I've got a 'metalic black' which paints into a very nice metallic- albiet dark grey, which I need to tint with black candy if I want it to look black.

New shell- finally another buggy for oOple instead of all the TC's!: Pro line Crowd Pleazer 2.0 going out to Chris G for his 1/8 Xray 808 buggy.

Featuring Black ghost flames at the back, Fluro pink, white, metalic silver and BADA-BLING silver for highlight stripe and window frames. I'm not happy with the pictures so much because the it's all very shiney and bright in real life- maybe after a few dozen more shells I can afford a new camera!

Another PF Crowd Pleazer for ChrisG's 808.

Metallic Purple licks over silver to black ghost flames with drop shadows. Very dark and mean paint job being matched to black rims! For some reason the purple looks blue- my camera is clearly messed up!

This one's HUGE!!! 1/5 scale MDC Truck. Very simple scheme of Fire Engine Red, Gloss Black and Chrome. This customer want 8 bodies painted in the same style so his fleet matches. Thankfully it's a simple design and they're not all this big!

And here's a ProtoForm Speed 6 for a local racer.

Metallic Purple ghost flames (looks so awesome in the sunlight), with Mwtallic white, Met Yellow, Met Orange spikes. Royal style painted lights and grills.

A little Squad of matching 1/12ths and World GT's for a pan car racer. Bodies are 1/12 Parma Zytec and HB Reynard, and WGT is Protoform Sophia and PF Corvette. I wasn't sure about the colours at first but they definately grow on you and looks more like a real racer than the standard RC job. Colours are: Metallic Royal Blue, Sky Blue, Red and Yellow.

A new shell for my new TC at last! This ones a bit unusual- a Parma Mohawk. It's really nice shell based on thier previous Alfa 156. It's got really nice details in it's shape and creases as well as lines on panel gaps etc. It's the sort of scale details that have been missing from most TC bodies for a few years now. Performance seems good and they're really popular in the states.

I've gone for my standard scheme with a few tweaks- all metallics: Iredescent Blue, Teal, Orange, Coarse Flake White and my new favorite- Tequila Yellow. Drop shadows in the blue and Met. Purple highlights (don't show up at all on my camera). Painted lights and grills/vents/intercooler in Royal style. :thumbsup:

Cheers Jon. It was nice to paint a shell that looked like the real thing for a change, so the badge was a bit of fun, plus I'm a Alfa fan!

And another TC: Protoform LTC-R with Dark Metallic Blue, light met. Blue, Coarse Met. Silver, Faux Carbon, drop shadows and Painted lights/grills.

New paint for Kristian because he drove it down the straight at West London on it's roof and then he threw the last one under a marshall at Rug Racers!

Fluro yellow over Coarse Metallic Silver over Metallic Black, drop shadows and Painted lights and grills and intercooler.

A couple of new shells for University Dave. A Speed 6 and a ISF - props to abs for the design. Colours are Irridescent Blue, Aqua mix, Black, Fluro Orange and White. Normal style painted lights and grills.

The simplest job I've ever painted! A bit like that special edition Lambo I think! Metallic Black/gunmetal with a metallic white stripe. Painted lights and grills.

A Protoform LTC in Fluro yellow/green over coarse metallic silver with metallic black drop shadows and painted lights/grill.

Metallic Candy Red, Metallic Black, Carbon effect and White. Painted lights and grills.

The metallic Red is quite spesh. Transparent red is painted first then backed with a coarse metallic silver which is backed with black to bring out the sparkle. It looks awesome in direct light!
