The Option House Carbon Fibre came in handy then?

That's a good idea, I wonder how you thought of that;)

about the batteries like that

is there much roll when turning when the batt is like that? I'm concerned about that. I still haven't run mine yet.

anyway

please let me know. I might have to breat apart some shotgun packs that are really awesome and I don't want to.

thanks
sean

There is going to be more roll.
Is that a bad thing, sometimes yes, sometimes no - Jim's looked every bit as good as Chris' last week with the cells in that config.
Roll can generate more grip.
Will is suit an individuals driving style?... Only one way to find out.

The X-6 is a new toy for alot of us this summer, it would be too easy to just copy a set-up from Chris/Dan/Ellis and run with it without trying stuff. I'm gonna' run the car (it's actually Jimmy's car - from the review) pretty standard this summer, as a kind of on-going review, I'll publish what I think - so far its all good.
G's not gonna run his X6 standard, he's got all kinds of crazy-shit planned, radical chassis mods, hump packs, single cells in bizzare places....... :wtf:
I beleive he's even considering fitting a B4 gearbox the wrong way round - madness.

Watch this space.

Well, from previous experiments (also hush-hush, eh, Northy ;-) ) I can say that when going from a conventional batteries-down-the middle to a 3x3 saddle pack lay-out, the difference in roll is:
A) not too dramatic
B) not too bad. It feels nice. A little less twitchy, but still responsive enough.

6 cells across would just be taking it one step further.
IMHO, the X-6 needs more weight over the rear end. SO I'm with you on the experiment. I will be watching this space closely :-)

I've just typed out al long reply but then thought "wait on Stu, that's all your best stuff, leave it for the report", so I deleted it. ;)

a TRUE pro!:p

where we run

here in the west Toronto area of canada we have www.sidsraceway.com

there we have hard clay something like what was in Italy as far as I can tell from the descriptions that I have read. rear traction is a big issue. Also as with all 2wd cars, pushing in the front can be a pain as well. so It will really depend on a day to day thing.

about the B4 tranny flipped, I was totally thinking of that. I don't know if it was a dream or real but as a teen, I seem to remember an experiment I did with the ultima and flipping the gear box. (Why wouldn't that work anyway?)

I used to make my own chasis out of circuit board and a dremel tool!

well I hope you all like the paint job on my new x6:cool:

I would like to invite any of you that are thinking of coming to visit canada this summer to let us know and stop by. we'll make you feel right at home.

Northy 08-02-2007 08:53 PM

Cheers.

Who's is the X10? If he's struggling with rear traction I can help :)

I have two experiences with 6 cells across the car.

The first is at the Euros where I couldn't get enough traction on low grip clay. It was worse with the 6 cells across the back, putting the power down coming out of the corners, the extra weight made it hang onto the corner more, causing over rotation.

My other experience was way back in the summer, a nice chap from Bury (Alan???) wanted me to drive his home made XXX converted car which had 6 cells across the back. I really expected it to wallow too much on the high grip astro but it didn't at all really and was quite nice to drive. Now it wasn't sparklingly quick and the servo wouldn't hold full lock in a high grip turn so it wasn't a full evalutation. Also quite nice to drive doesn't necessarily mean fast, but we had no timing gear.

Either way good skills Stu, are you planning to always run it like that???

Stu 10-02-2007 01:08 PM

I'll try it that way and the 4+2.
As Jim hints at above the idea has come from watching his car at York last week.
As you know I am no setup-guru, I mainly made the plate 'cos I had a sheet of carbon that I needed a use for, as Damain has pointed out above.

WHITTLER555 10-02-2007 02:13 PM

Stu, do you want a lift to Teeside or are you going over to Northy's?

Stu 10-02-2007 02:51 PM

Not stopping over, 6am set-off?

WHITTLER555 10-02-2007 03:08 PM

I will pick you up at 6.15am, plenty of time:cool:

Northy 10-02-2007 03:24 PM

Off in Scooby then? :)

I have a new more direct route to try in the morning, but its a bit up, down, left and right, so may not if the weather is bad.

most of the x10 drivers need some advice at our track. they drive well but it seems that there buggies don't make it into the A main.

Northy 10-02-2007 09:55 PM

Hope this is ok by Jimmy.

Get the X10 drivers to post questions here: http://thepred.proboards38.com/index.cgi

If they post their set-ups and what is wrong handling wise we can help :)

Cheers,

G
