B4 OR XXXCR
I am sure this is asked over and over again so I apologise, I am just after to fresh view as to which 2WD to go for.
I am looking for 2wd to predominantly race indoor on carpet/polished floor and cannot decide which one to get. Obviously spares availability it important but I will probably buy a load at the same time as buying the buggy. I always budget for £100 or so worth of spares when buying new car anyway. I can't believe there can be a huge difference between these two, after all they both have tub chassis, servo in front, motor and gearbox at back and battery running down the middle. I prefer the look of the Losi and have had losi kits before but am worried it is a bit old now. Someone said on here that is because Losi have lost interest in 10th off road????? The B4 looks ok but not as nice however I think in general people think this is the better car. I am no serious racer but have been running RC cars (racing and bashing) for 6 years now and want something that I will be seriously able to push and progress with. Any thoughts appreciated |

Before I start I will say I am a bit biased.....I own a CR. I do think it's great, but I also own a Losi XXX4 and think that is poop. Losi tends to understeer a bit I think compared to a B4, but I don't think there is too much in it. In the hands of a good driver, and well set up I think each will do as well as each other. I would base my choice on spares availability locally to you personally. Oh and looks, lets be honest, you wouldn't go out with one girl if her sister looked much fitter:thumbsup:, no matter how well she performed. Especially if that sister came to your club every Friday night and stood next to your missus making her look frumpy. he he.

Not sure where you're going with that reply Lloyd! Are you saying you get turned on by your CR? Oh dear, Remind me to pit a bit further away from you this week mate! And if I catch you eyeing up my CR there'll be trouble I tell ya!
Anyway, back to the thread, for what it's worth I have to say that I think the XXX-CR is a fantastic piece of kit. Yes, the original XXX was launched a fair few years ago now, but in CR form the XXX can still show the B4 a clean pair of rear wheels on any surface. I race against B4s, X6s and even Cat SXs and regularly beat these guys with my CR, so there can't be too much wrong with it. If you're a beginner (sorry, not sure from what you say) then I suggest you simply get something that the other guys at your club race so that you can go to them for help, advice & spares if you don't have the part you need. If you know what you're doing, then get a CR and help us guys redress the balance against all of those B4s and X6s out there! |
xxxcr or b4
Firstly thank you for your replies. I am glad to hear the lack of losi interest is rubbish as that is the car I am swaying towards because......you guessed it looks!
Spares back up doesn't seem to be a problem for either having looked into it. The only think that worries me about the B4 is that I won't be able to resist the X Factory conversion in the future!!! On that subject, is this an upgrade for top flight drivers only who will notice a difference or could little 'ole me benefit from this also. Thanks again |
the xfactory conversion is like a totally new car to the B4 it handles very differently and well worth it for the majority of drivers as many will say it's easier to drive and more consistant than the b4 or xxxcr and still really fast which unexpierienced drivers benefit from alot as do top end drivers that like to go at stupid speeds round the whole of the track without making so many mistakes, I've got both B4 and X6 now struggling which one i want to drive this year as the B4 is really quick and feels more rewarding and quicker if you don't make any mistakes but harder to drive and the X6 is easier to drive and put in consistant runs but is a fraction slower i think.
losi in 1/10th have almost died out in my opinion, well they have in my area, I don't know anyone who runs xxxcr at my local club anymore and don't even see them much at regionals etc those who did now own B4's or X6's  |
xxxcr or b4
that is really useful, thanks. I reckon I will go for B4 and X6 conversion if funds allow. Can't wait:D

Losi hasnt lost intrest in 1/10th off road. I believe they have been consentrating on getting in to 8th off road with a total new area. Ive heard rumours there is a new losi on the way. As for b4 cr x6 argument. The way i see it is B4 quickest over a lap but not that easy to drive consistantly, X6 not quite over a single lap as a b4 but more consistant, Cr is about the same over one lap as a x6 but more consistant. I cant get my cr to crash no matter how hard i try.

CR - dare to be different, not that I'm biased!
|
I think if the cr were to win he next world champs then you would probably see a few cr's at national, regionals club meetings ect ;)

ashley you do make me laugh at every post you put about the losi as there all jokes are they not? :woot::lol: the reason you can't crash when you try is that when you try steer into the obstacles to crash it into the car keeps going straight on :woot:

What I don't get is that if the B4 is so much better than the CR, why do all the CRs that get advertised on here sell so quickly and for pretty much the same money as the B4's? You would have expected the prices to have fallen through the floor.
(And I haven't owned a Losi since the JRX2 back many moons ago) |

Get a X6 they are the nutts, had a b4 and xxxcr both are not a patch on a x6 if your a average racer like myself. They are so easy to drive my lap times have improved loads since i switched.

Had both and whilst I ended up sticking with the predictable, consistent CR, I'd certainly go for the B4 if the majority of my racing was indoors. Gives you the X-6 option later too, though be sure to try before you buy.

When ive driven x6's they have been quick but i found them a little twitchy and unstable i simply go on what i have experianced comparing lap times and consistant lap times. There all awsome cars and i would happily run any of them at a national at the end of the day im biassed to the CR i like to be diffrent and i preffer the cr. At the end of the day its driver preffrence. Neil cragg, Pidge, Bradders, Yardy etc can all get a b4 round a track super quick. Ellis, Sleigh can do it with a x6. Tricky, Mcgee, Bloomers can get a cr round the track just as quick. Its driver prefrence instead of everyone saying this is quicker yours is rubbish etc etc etc on a forum you should go and try one see what you like.

Personal i think the cr is a total pile of bab, its ok outdoors but cos i race alot indoors i just couldnt get the thing to turn. Thats my personal opinion on it
|
Its my opinion knowone can prove that any car is quicker than any other car. Why dont we all just buy x6's how boring will this sport be.
A |
Thats the best thing you have said on this forum ash:thumbsup:
|
Ok, i think we need to get back on toic and stop turning this into a manufacturer slagging match.
|
OK boss, but the cr is still bab tho.

we are agreing- and that is that we all have the same view of the losi 2wd |
I dont want to argue, i dont like arguing i just want to enjoy my racing but when ever i post anything im always told im stupid or im having a laugh or someone takes the piss out of me because im not very good at english and cant spell very well. It makes me think why do i bother racing anymore.

I think you need to realise that people find you a easy target to take the mick out off. What you need to do is rise above them and take whats given with a pinch of salt, NEVER take it to heart.
Its all about growing up dude and just enjoy what your doing:thumbsup: P.S cr's are bab (only joking):p |

oh boo you. don’t give me the why do i bother racing crap no one has said your stupid, - but you have left your self open to a few comments by posting such a statement. |
So back on topic as we all want to help the guy asking the questions and not hear each and everyones life stories....
Ive driven all three and my conclusion; B4.. very good car, but in my opinion, too predictable and very boring.. XXX-CR.. more fun to drive than a B4, seems much more like your actually doing something which you enjoy... X-6.. Best of the three, drives like a 4WD, just keep pushing it and pushing it! For me, its the best of both, consistency of the B4 but it keeps you on edge like the XXX-CR... I got bored of my X-6 over the winter so ive modded a B4, basically cut the side off the chassis and moved the battery positions to make it slimmer, i think its great to drive! So much so, im getting a chassis specially made for it so i can be "unique" (look up "my slim B4" in the I Made This subforum if you would like to have a nosey) Sorry for the little essay on my own car! Best thing to do, go to your track, see who races what, ask if you can try them etc, pick the one you want... I think Ash made a good point when he said about the likes of Ellis being quick with his X-6 but then Craggy is quick with his B4 but then so is Tricky with his XXXCR... Get whichever you like the most... if it doesnt work out, you could always sell it anyway:p Hope ive sort of stayed on track and helped... Buy an X1108!:wub Tom |
ive had b4 and xxxcr and have gone back to the xxxcr . my own opinion of the cars is yes the b4 may be faster but i felt it was harder to drive. where the xxxcr feels a more stable and forgiving car on jumps and rough parts of a track . as for the understeer part i dont think the xxxcr does understeer.
|
Have you got the brass bulkhead in your CR?
|
I noticed that the X-6 is often a big improvement for low to medium skilled drivers, as it is stable and easy to drive. But atm quite a few drivers are returning to the B4 as well (e.g. flipside on this forum, Kampenhout GP 2008 winner) as they think it's faster.
The car you choose is just personal, whether it is a S2, X-6, B4, XXX-CR, RB5 or anything with 4 wheels, it has to suit your driving style. So go out and test some of the cars of fellow racers and decide :) |
