Hi all!...
I drobe the car for the first time "in anger" today, and i have to say i was really quite impressed! jumped well and seemed very planted throughout the corners! I will be racing it next week to see how it fairs against the competition but its looking promising after today  All i need to do now is make a shell ! Tah, Tom |
Looks very nice Tom...you're a proper little modder these days! :)
|
i cant resist sometimes on my days off! specially when all the bits are they calling out to be used
|
Looked very nice today mate. Seemed better through the corners than the others I saw you driving with. Jumped pretty flat aswell by the looks of things. Be interesting to see it go outdoors.

Small update...
Just a pic of the "coca cola" shell which is my second attempt at makin one from the mould using a coke bottle and a heatgun, not amazing but does the job! Racing and developments: Lent the car to a friend at the track (Craig Magee) as he broke his cat... I got the impression he liked it, i then let another driver have a go, Barry Weldon, he seemed to like it and said it was very responsive although the rear wheel sometimes lifted when turning... Ill have another update when the new chassis is done... Jay is making me a Carbon Fibre tub which im very excited about and should reduce the flex in the chassis and stop the wheel from lifting... When the new chassis arrives, ill be making a new shell, maybe even look into getting one done properly Comments please! Cheers, Tom http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/6899/22032009632.jpg |
Tom i really like this, you have a PM.
|
Tom, you should have all the parts with you within the week, i was hoping to finish the mould off today, but i'm still waiting for an item to arrive so i can complete it. The extra alloy part has been made, and i'll make up some spacers to fit the B4 Top plate , i'm looking forward to seeing this done myself, its gonna look smart:thumbsup:
|
Great news Jay!! Cant wait to see it all done, im going to order some balsa to make a new mould for a shell, possibly getting it vacformed to give crisper lines!
You have a PM ;) |
wow! a heat gun and a pop bottle. very creative. thumbs up!
|
Thanks, i cant take credit though, ive just done what many others before me have done
|
What was the first body made from? It's very sleek and kinda alien looking, very smart ;)

As said, i used a persil bottle, it had some basic shape and was almost long enough to cover the entire car ;) Hopefully have the new chassis on Sunday? if Jay's coming to do track maintenance :woot: |

ill bring my tools so i can build it and race you ;):D:p

Ive seen pics of the first chassis to come off the mould from Jay...
It looks the dogs cahooners!! (Jay wasnt 100% happy so he will be fiddling with the process of making it) However i will be putting it together tomorrow and taking some more pics and doing some testing  |
I thought i'd put a little teaser pic up .....

Looks great to me, but why copying the S2 lay-out?
Edit: just saw the ESC behind the battery packs, why did you choose to do it this way? Any advantage regarding balance of the car or just easy wiring as the ESC is close to the motor? |

Cheers Garry, was really impressed myself!! Need to make a new mould for the shell and get a rough one sorted... then its testing next week!
Rossi, as Jay has said, the layout was purely to get the car going for a practice today... Unfortunately i only took 1 set of batteries and forgot the charger so only managed a quick blast |
The ability to moove the cells sounds cool, Can they be shifted flush to the servo too?

My idea was to drill several holes so the batteries could be moved further backwards or fowards depending on how you wanted the car to handle... Tests will be done in the coming week as to finding what we believe to be the optimal position... The car benefits from using saddle lipos as there is no risk of them shorting meaning they can be alot closer together, thus leaving more room in the chassis... Hope this helps, Tom |

have to make sure this one handles well first
