Fabix Cougar 2000 is going to be a force to be 'reckoned' with, with Mitch behind the sticks!!

My 4wd entry (a Lazer ZXR) is currently a collection of bits in a box

As is the 2wd car that I had intended to run..... a Losi JRX Pro SE - but I missed out on my entry having booked in too late (just 1hr after it opened!) - But it means that the JRX2 that I ran at the 1st Revival will get another outing

That was £70 bloody well spent. Looks pretty nice if the internals are OK...

It was actually ok, issue was it was based on a 2wd car that wasnt really that good which was a shame. I did ok with it at the British Grand Prix and got Brian Kinwalds attention as he came over & had a chat.

@ Catman79

Your Lazer looks lush!:wub

I see we've got the same front shock towers, I found the one on my car was cracked when I stripped it down, so put an order with Fibrelyte - I figured the brace across the top would help with strength?

Looks like I'm going to have to re-think my bodyshell design too - but Boxart does look great on these!

thanks dan! mine had that shock tower already on it when I purchased it as a bit of a wreck, apparently the bracket adds strength and helps to protect the front axle box, ive decided if mine goes well at this years event, ill fibrelyte the whole thing. I was a bit torn on paint schemes, ive always loved the box are lazer, so though id go down that route. so far mines had one five minute run at my local club, nothing fell off and it made it to the end, so cant complain. are you running yours this year?

Yes - the ZXR is my entry for 4wd on Sunday.... its still only exists as a box of bits.... but they are now a collection of clean bits & I've collected a few parts (like the front shock tower) that I'd found weren't up to scratch. My car it seems has had some money spent on it (Carbon chassis & Kyosho Velvet shocks) & on first impression looked pretty good, but as I've stripped it down I keep finding little things than need sorting or replacing. I'm currently on the look-out for the rear-most spacer piece that goes between the chassis & top deck, as mines been hacked about & some of the screw holes are cross-threaded :(

Welshy40 14-06-2017 11:19 AM

The issue with that tower is its not as strong as it looks and has weak points in the design so would recomend the mms semi circular design tower, its a great handle to carry the car, also aids you when rolling so nine out of ten times you make it back on your wheels and its strong. Also on fibrelytes site.

Ive also got a few ideas for adding strength, get two nyloc nuts preferably slim ones and bolt the top two screws to the gearbox as that seems to help.

Do you mean the rear top deck mount that bolts to the motor plate, top deck, chassis and L brace?

Had a practice yesterday but ended in a disaster, having flipped it over at the end of the main straight it was a sitting duck. I got rear ended by a modern 4wd buggy.
It happened so fast it wasn't really anyone's fault.

Resulting damage:

Cracked body
Cracked chassis either side
Bent rear wheel
Bent rear drives shaft

This was my new build

catman79 22-06-2017 09:22 AM

ouch! looks nasty!. mine managed a 5 minute run last week unscathed, going for a full meeting this week so who knows!

I've finally made a start on my 2wd CAT. Will hopefully have it finished in time to at least do a shakedown test prior to the event. :)
