NE Regional Venues
Putting together a google map showing clubs & venues that been kind enough to host outdoor & indoor regionals in the NE since I started racing in 1993.
Any prior to that either post here or Pm's please and I'll add them as & when time permits see them here so far I have but not all on the map yet Teesside Batley Harrogate York NERCR (Durham) Darlington Gateshead Scarborough (McCain Food Factory???) Worksop (the new Blyth :D;)) now Robin Hood Raceway Aire Valley (near Leeds/Bradford Airport) Bury (Metro???) |
We did an indoor regional at Patley Bridge a about 5 years ago. Can't remember the actual location, other than it was in a school just outside Patley.

I was at that event which club was it? |

Nidderdale High School & Community College co-ordinates |
It was the Patley Bridge Club, sadly no longer running. I used to race with them when I first started 10 years ago. They ran in a tiny little hall, probably less than half of what we pit in at York. It used to be quality racing there on a Tuesday night. Rich Newbold, Andy Mitton and a few others used to run it.

Glenn didnt Durham Club hold some indoor regionals at the school in belmont ? The one that had pitting in the gallery above one end of the hall. I can remember Colin Blades' Mother running the Tuck Shop selling Westler Burgers, Space raiders Crisps.................
Also i can remember two Outdoor regionals at the Cocken Lodge track, one was cancelled as it was flooded and i can remember getting towed out of the field and i can remember another one in the sunshine shortly before the track closed down. Good Memory lane thread this:thumbsup: |

map updated Macain Sports Ground @ Scarborough, which club ran meetings there? You can still see the concrete bank corner. Remember trying to get up there with blue full spikes on with 2wd. |

bAD or Chevy may recall about indoors club did run a regional on the grass outdoors at school at least once, I helped put the track together They also had a patch of land at Belmont near a football field that was on a bank side. Used for the interteam event @ least twice I think Cocken Lodge the track with the clay bolders on the straight to the left of the rostrum just after it opened |
Dave aka Wally Walton
what happened up Hexham way? Was that just TTBA meetings Durham ran events Lambton Park, near Chester-le-Street. Two and or Three day meets. Were regionals held there? |
Hexham was just a TTBA meeting and the track closed when Fewsters sold the land but if you go passed now it's still there just well over grown

thanks to our fellow o0pler's from Germany we have a link to the event http://www.christian-keil.com/a02-re...ace980522.html Seem to remember your XX4 having an argument with the catch fencing on the straigth. The car came of worse :o |
i think the club at the mcaine factory was something to do with p + s hobbies as they also used to run an indoor winter series at the spa on the front at scarborugh and around that time york had a track behind a school at stockton on the forest and batley had a track at the back of the hare and hounds pub in west ardsley middle to late eighties
modified rough riders and kyosho scorpions were the cars to have hare hounds pub in west ardsley craig dreshers local track where he first started as he lived in osset 4 miles away |
!!!!
|
There used to be a club just off york road in leeds (near great clothes) which ran a big meeting every year. I cant remember what the meeting was though.
Anyone else remember this? |
