Added it to the news page with a link to this thread - looks like Durango have done a great job. Really like the look of those rubber boots! less maintenance! :woot:

SHY 30-01-2009 09:17 AM

I'll preorder that blindfolded! :wub:drool:

Anyone got any details? Where will it be manufactured? Approx price?

Hahahahahahaa what do you call that syndrome you are suffering from?

telboy 30-01-2009 09:30 AM

Not sure about the rear diff access. Looks as though to get the diff out, all the wishbones will have to be unsecured? strange.

ryan 30-01-2009 09:34 AM

Oh so sexy lol, wouldnt like to think how much it will cost though

Trish 30-01-2009 09:34 AM

I want one!

Blingaholic?

Don't worry bout'the diff access... if it's like on the A-1, which is a Durango knock-off, it'll drop out with 4 screws removed... best diff access there is! :woot:

looking at the pics, maybe the rear diff is loaded from underneath?

Yup!!! It simply "drops down"... genious!!!

Just check out a A-1 and you'll see!

from my dusty old eyes - the chassis is a plate and so the diff can't pass thru it. The ribbed add-on bit is a replaceable chassis protector? That's what it looks like to me anyway.

SHY 30-01-2009 10:06 AM

Think the other way around. Loosen, lift gear housing, drop down diff...

telboy 30-01-2009 10:06 AM

...also, if you look at the rear alloy part that comes out, it wraps under the diff bearings too. so the bearing would struggle to move down to get the diff out.

Garry Driffill 30-01-2009 10:14 AM

That looks ace - AE shocks on the car?

indeed!

DCM 30-01-2009 10:30 AM

my bad, Jimmy is right, the black part, is a chassis protector. Looks like it is a verticaly split rear bulkhead.

jimmy 30-01-2009 10:34 AM

looks like the diff pops out backward quickly

hopeully, not whilst the car is in motion :woot:

Chris Doughty 30-01-2009 10:50 AM

why is everyone bothered about getting the diff out?

my B44 diff never moved from where it was put when the car was bolted together, and that didn't even have outdrive boots!

SHY 30-01-2009 10:57 AM

You normally need to maintain the diffs sometime... and changing between one-way and diff in the front is also a good tuning aid.

DCM 30-01-2009 10:58 AM

it's a fetish.... got to argue over undescribable parts of blurry pics of a yet to be released car.... :woot:

Maybe there will be unknown tuning options you'd like to play with? :)

Chris Doughty 30-01-2009 11:07 AM

diff oils and stuff... yes please - 8th scale baby! :woot:

Gayo 30-01-2009 11:07 AM

It seems to be the same layout as previous protos. I wonder how it will handle with Lipos.

Nice to see this car come back! Parts (arms, chassis) look like finished, production parts. Nice! SHY's dreams come true :p:D

Dito, if the price is right maybe I can be persuaded to get one.

SHY 30-01-2009 11:38 AM

LOL! I just hope the chassis will stay slim, and not wider at the front like the S500 proto...

After building the A-1 the diff housing design really is the most innovative solution on the car IMHO. My bet is all cars will have adopted this in 10 years...

Lee 30-01-2009 12:25 PM

Man those guys at Aero will be pissed, another copy :woot:

SHY 30-01-2009 01:56 PM

As I see it Aero copied Durango. And Serpent made the S500 proto, which is also basically a Durango copy. The latter one in collaboration with Strenge whilst the first one created some controversy. In any case there's no copyright so anyone who likes can copy as much as they want! :)

Rebelrc 30-01-2009 05:19 PM

The Durango 2005 has the easiest diff access i have ever seen .... just 2 screws and they slide out on like a drawer with no performance comprimised for ease of access...if you know what i meen.
i am sure this car has no niggly awkward bits just pure lovaleyness:drool:

mes 30-01-2009 05:51 PM

Nice one!
I remember drooling about it about exactly one year ago when it was called the S500...;)
I'm just wondering if it will be released this time!

jimmy 30-01-2009 05:58 PM

I'm sure it will, these guys know what they're doing and it should be a winner.

Rebelrc 30-01-2009 06:00 PM

ace old diff access
my poor car looks like it needs some tlc:)

stegger 30-01-2009 06:17 PM

After seeing the pic's, i think i've just dribbled in my pants:blush::blush::blush::wub

nitrokillah 31-01-2009 01:02 AM

I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed this time .
