My new pred

Thought I'd post it here too as it's vintage!

So it landed today in a battered box (thanks Royal Mail) but the car was safe and sound inside despite there being no other packaging!

After talking to Matt (Dyna) looks like I've bagged a pre production car! Couldn't be more happier and unlike the last 2 preds I've had I think this will just live on the wall.

You'll get locked up for that!

I know a guy that talks to all his old racer friends that don't anymore and picks up all sorts cheap

Candyman 13-01-2017 11:13 AM

I remember having one of these when I was young, I raced it for a while until I got sick of it breaking all the time.

Peakey 13-01-2017 01:14 PM

The rest of the parts arrived today, it was cheaper for him to send 2 parcels thus one must of missed the plane,

Richard Weatherly said this about the serial numbers but I think he's a little hazy
I think I can remember - The code is quite simple. 2 means February, 102 means it was the second car built that month. 4 is 1994. Sometimes we swapped the number order around, but the coded principle was always the same.

Peakey 13-01-2017 11:17 PM

Just had some more on the serial numbers from the man himself.

The 2 means February. The 4 means 1994. 102 means it was the 2nd car made that month. (The middle numbers always started at 100) Some years, we swapped the end digits so that the month was at the end of the number and the years was at the beginning. Some years we also reversed the middle three numbers. It's simple when you know the code! I'm happy that all these years later no one figured it out. :)

Retro RC 13-01-2017 11:59 PM

What country did you find this is Justin?

RJJ 15-01-2017 12:46 PM

Very nice Justin, you always amaze me with your hunting skills of finding nice cars or parts buddy :)

jeps 17-01-2017 09:09 PM

Great find !!!

We can see black shocks bodies on your car. On others XT, I saw silver anodised shocks bodies. What are the originals ? Blacks for 93 until mid 94 ?

And for the upper front wishbones, are they the originals ? I have another model slimer.
So same question : do you know when the upper front wishbones have been improved ?

front upper wishbones

Any vintage car is only worth what people are willing to pay with these predators they are becoming collectible again which will only push the price up...
I paid £380 for my carbon tub and to me personally it's a bargain but to someone else they may not be willing to pay that.

There been a X11 in Spain for some time now 600plus euro but think that might be bit to far for a standard car as is £500 as I have just sold 2 predators for £300.00 each as I want a nice yokomo yz10 to go next to my rc10's :)

The one thing that drawn me to the predators is they are a really bit of history and the design so out there with the engineering!
but I am afraid after driving Leon's at mb track I will never run mine they for the shelf

Mr Satchell 12-03-2017 07:01 PM

Pred runner.

I want to run mine more. I like the way it drives. Need to do the tm4 gear swap thing. I didn't buy my preds to make money I bought them because I like the design and there's not many about. I have a new build one that's never had electrics fitted never mind seen a track. Someone out there would problem snap my arm off for it but it's not for sale

Ive always loved the look of preds and was lucky enough to have 2 xk98s as a kid. Price wise, yes they seem expensive but they will never be re released and only getting rarer
