MOLD MODEL CAR CLUB

Hello people

I have heard a few times now that people see mold as a nitro only club.. This is wrong. The club runs indoor and outdoor venues. If the demand is there it does run in the summer at both venues too.

Our indoor venue is massive and has loads of space to pit etc. Class's are normally V12 and 1/10th buggys (with jumps...work in progress). we also get few mini stock, touring and few 18ths at times. The venue is british areospace in broughton about2-3mins from south a55 about jnc 35a i think. easy accesable from m53 m56 etc its about 4 miles away from chester on the welsh boarder. Come see us bring what you got.

The out door venue normally only runs in summer...longs its dry. We have normally only raced nitro because alot of the guys race at national levels so practise makes h finals lol ;). But we are normally open to race what ever you got.

Race nights are Thursdays @7ish earlyer if you want to help design the track. Its 2.50 to race.. 3 Heats and a final. Finish time depends on how fast we get started but never later than 10:30.

Any questions just PM me

Hiya Scott,

I didnt actually realise there was a track less than 5 mins from my work. What sort of lap times do buggy's tend to get? I think i'd be very interested in coming along. Also what tyres do most folks use?

I take it, id be fine with either my cr or xx4 ?

Defo Come!

ill see what we have on site!
There some ace deals on pre reg ones as theres about 15 on site

Danny McGee 30-01-2009 12:33 PM

Hiya folks, this is just a follow up on the MOLD club's indoor track near Chester. Its ace, Matt Dodd, Mark Stanley and myself are going to be racing there from now on, thursday night from about 7pm onwards. There's a LOT of room for a track that is 50% carpet and 50% polished floor, i had a quick go of someones car last night and the carpet is good stuff with the polished floor being the same as usual.

I think that the guys there are more than happy for us to design and build the track, with a few little jumps and more jumps to be added in the near future! To be hoenst i dont think they need many jumps cos the feature of carpet/floor is good enough for me.

Were going to shuffle things about a bit (if they let us) so we have a lot of space for both the track and pitting, with a fair few tables allready provided. They have power socks too from what i saw so no need to bring the trusty 12V (ah the good ole days)

Anyways, i thought id spread the word seeing as they have a great facility do use but not many folks to help out and race.

So who's up for coming down on thursday then? Seeing as the new season is upon us you know you need the practise. Let me know if you fancy it and ill sort you out with directions and number

Danny

No comment:lol::p

We even watched a clip of Bruce Almighty with out tea and biscuits.

Jonesy 30-01-2009 02:49 PM

I posted on another thread about coming down so I'll be there next week. May have to take the 5.5 out of the CAT if it's only 10 second laps although knowing Danny's track building the laps may end up longer!!

See you then

Danny McGee 30-01-2009 02:51 PM

I'll do the best i can :), we knocked up a quick track last night that all the guys seemed happy with... ???????? is that fair guys???????? There is plenty of space once we move a few bits about. And its easily one of the biggest ive raced at for a mid week race (ever actually) so ive no doubt the track will be cool. Bear in mind its not just buggys that race they also have a mar"dave" section :p so we have to bear them in mind too, but with a bit of thought it'll be cool.

May have to ask the guys if there is any more material to mark out a track?????? :D but lets not run before we can walk.

Kecky 30-01-2009 03:02 PM

I'm really looking forward to have the option of some mid-week buggy action

That's very unlike you Danny :p

Sounds all good though mate, didn't even realise you lived up here, I'm working on Chester Business Park so I guess I'm only about a 2 minute drive from you!!

ScottyDogWoof 30-01-2009 06:51 PM

well we.ve been busy posting..cant belive there is as many people as you guys out there that havent been down before.

We have struggled with numbers so we havent invested as much time as we could have..but lots of ideas in the pipe line...so with a bit of support we should be a good club to come to.

ON THURSDAY JUST..LAP TIMES WHERE ABOUT 14SECS BUT IT WAS A TIGHT TRACK. I RUN A B44 WITH A 10.5 IN. i DO HAVE TO ADD I FTD'D AND WON FINAL BY A LAP....OR TWO I THINK. SO BRING ON THE GOOD DRIVERS!!

Any questions pm me.

Bear in mind that were gonna move the boards back about 20 ish feet to make it bigger :D

craigosh 30-01-2009 11:57 PM

Went last night, great group of people, great track but i drove awfull lol.
Had a 6.5 in and would say it was overpowered.

If your after some midweek racing can totally recommend checking this place out.
When they can use more of the hall it'll be even better.

Just a thought Scott, what if the mardave guys ran those rubber tires you can get? might work well on the vinyl and they can run on the whole track maybe!?! At formby the mardave guys run the full track and have pleanty of grip on the carpet with the rubbers on!
Would save having to move sections!

ScottyDogWoof 01-02-2009 05:39 PM

will ask.. dont want to step on toes really..good idea tho.. On the other had we've never had much trouble sorting out a 2 in 1 track. Not that i designed the track the other night but when i normally do only takes a 5 min working out.. but ideas welcome.. after last club nite the dubers found the little track we had was ample. They said they really enjoyed it so might get a little lost on a 18sec+ lap
