Worst car you've raced.....
Thought this could be interesting, can't expect everyone to be completely honest if they're sponsored etc, but let's see what you all think the worst car is you've had to drive in the last say... 15 years?
For me i had a couple of bad experiences, one being the RC10 Worlds Car in around 1994 - This was my first 2wd car, and by the time i got it the Losi XX was king of the bumpy grass tracks and made the RC10 seem so out-dated it was a pig to drive on bumpy tracks and i really didn't like it! 2nd up i think had to be the Yokomo MX-4 - I don't think i could ever say i enjoyed racing that car, it was just so heavy and no matter what we all tried, we just couldn't seem to get a good set-up! The prototype cars were certainly a lot better but the production model was so hard to get right. Anyone have any other cars they've really just not got on with? |
original XXX4, it was just toss to drive and didn't go over bumps. I ended up switching to my B4 at a 4WD regional and went faster.
|
Losi BK2
was hoping for so much, but all it was was a wheelie monster and push machine. I have had some very good times with Losi cars, but the BK2 not exactly dialled on UK tracks |
Off road, Aero.
On road, Pred tourer DTM i think it was called. That car was w@nk  |
Rather suprisingly to most of you is my B4, i just couldn't get running well with it, i even tried a new kit to little avail. I loved my B3 though.
2nd is also the MX4, although it was neigh on impossible to crash it was also impossible to get a fast setup on it, worked well on dirt though.... |
Academy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!
Nuff Said..... |
The MF2 and the BK2 are my worst cars raced. Never dialed to a track and always tore up gears in the transmissions.
|
xx4 i ran for less than 5 mins and sold it before id even finished the 5 min race
|
never had a good losi 2wd,
except jrx2:thumbsup: just not my thing i suppose:D trekkker |
Yokomo YZ10. Toss.
CAT3000 was iffy. |
Alex Racing Barracuda!!!!!
|
TC3, it was an on-road car
It soon became a TC3 'O' and I think it's now nailed to Northy's garage wall  |
4wd - Yokomo YZ10 (couldn't get the bastard to steer, and i HATE that!)
2wd - Traxxas TRX3 - the hardest car in the world to set up. It'd be ok one week at a track, and could go to the same track the week after and it'd be wank. Pissed me off Close second for 2wd would be the Top Models Hybrid!! sorry for swearing so much, but this is bringing back some haunting memories  |
Haha, loving this thread. Should it be a 'which car have you raced for the least amount of time' thread
G |
I dont think ive ever had a bad car :eh?: Actually i had a XX4... fast... but so unreliable for me!
I drove a pred once.. |
Swift
Schumacher "Nanda" Swift ! BAG'O POO !
|
G if it was owned a car for least amount of time i must be up there with the best as ive had alot of cars and some ive never even raced before i sold it i can think of 3 straight away XX4 501X YOK BX and others
|
tc4 was really bad
I havent owned a bad off roader but one of the cars ive driven and hatted i have to say it would be a BJ4. My favriot car of course is my xx4 nice dialled car. A |
I think this would be a very hard thing to quantify. I mean unless you gave a car a good running it would be very hard to state that it was the worst you had ever driven. I mean if you put a totally off the wall set-up on your favourite car you could do a few laps and they claim it's the worst car you've ever driven.
I dont really have any that would stand head and shoulders above the rest, I've drive a BJ4 a few times and it was probably one of the hardest cars i've driven but as it wasnt mine I never drove it enough to really make a decision on it. My XXX-4 G+ was probably my most problematic car, one week it would be awesome and I would be fighting for the lead, the next i'm a back runner in the B final. |
worst car would have been my xxx4 g+, two reasons, 1 dosnt go round corners, 2 graphite diff covers!!!
|
So much i could say but can't!!!
I will stick up for the YZ10 though, might have been hard work on the grippy stuff but it was awesome on smooth jumpy tracks like they have in the states. Losi XX was the biggest leap in car performance to my mind. The XX4 is amazing now but it took about two years to get it properly up to speed in the UK. |
losi jrx se
i could not get that thing to steer..i swear it had a caster under the front end. |

VERY small concrete curbs on the corners and they were snapping the front off the chassis and towers all over the place :woot: You have to give it credit though, still competitive today. G |
it would not last 4 minutes on the Uk grass tracks in mod in its first year :woot: - not through breakages, through dumping
|

worst car for me has to be a Yokomo MR4 BC, couldn't get it to run longer than 2 minutes without snapping diff screws or something.. :) |
xx4 and LiPo will be a v fast combo methinks
ooo, i forgot, i used to run the Fireblade USA..... |
Got to be Fireblade USA for me as well - it was proper nasty.
|
Easy one...
Fireblade Evo:thumbdown: |
Worst 4WD I had was a Lazer ZX-R, technically a superb car but never could quite get to grips with it.
Worst 2WD (technically) was the Mardave Cobra, but strangely I really got along with that one. Odd that. |
Didn't someone (im thinking Phil sleigh) used to have a cobra with an RC10 gearbox (or back end) on it?
I remember seeing it at Aylesbury make a nat A, looked awesome. |
My worst ever car was the Predator International!!!! It really made me think about packing in...... Closely followed by the Yoke MX4.
|
Yokomo Works 91 - much hyped but complete bollocks. Half the lock of my beloved 1st Procat which I still regret selling 17 years later.
|
My worst one has to be the car I started with a Tamiya Topforce even in stock it would toss gears if you didn't modify the rear gear cover.
Other than that I had Associated 2wd's untill the X-6 arrived Did a small stab at 4wd for one year again with a 2nd hand cat3000, but it was impossible to properly align the belts. So everyday it used a set of belts (sigh) |
2WD Cougar 2000(?) - Couldn't get it out fo the boot without something falling off it!!!
Fav 2wd was the TRX3 actually, opposite of Kopite! I'd still run it if I could find spares!! 4wd worst - Aero! No matter how much adjusting I could not get to grips with it, every other car I've had (a good few, X5, S44, 501X, BX, Bmax) was better with a kit setup than I could get the Aero no matter what! Could well be me more than the car mind.... |
Losi XX, it broke if you drove it, it broke if you didn't put it in a fut lined box on the way to the meeting, and it broke, well, standing still.
I never got on with a B2 but would never say it was a bad car, just not my liking. |
Worst car, but best memories when it worked, was my predator mark 1. Looked amazing at the time with its carbon chassis and like a F1 car on the track until it ate another gearbox, then another, then another

Agree'd garry the tc3 was the best tourer of its time, it is the xx4 of on road.
|
I didn't say it was a bad car for it's class, just it's on-road, therefore it is the worst I've ever driven
|
I was going to ask if it was the only on road car you have ever driven
