oOple on new server!
 

Hi All

Vicky has got in touch with me to help sort out the forum and getting it running at a decent speed again.

I've setup a new server and I'm in the processes of syncing the files over now which may take a few days! but if all goes well I'm hoping to have you moved by the weekend! :thumbsup:

After noticing the site go down a few minutes ago I've just made some changes to how Apache is using memory, the server is actually running out of memory when it fails to load. Hopefully this change will mean it won't keep falling over as much as it has but please let me know if you get any errors!

OK so I have the forum up and running on the new server and saying it's much much faster is a bit of an understatement! :thumbsup:

I'm looking for a couple of people to test it so if you know how to edit your hostfile drop me a PM and I'll give you the IP of the new server so you can have a run through for me.

Welcome Ash. I'm not an IT expert but if I donate some money (and other people did as well) does that help? I'm not sure if it's the cost or more the time and expertise

I was planning to do this on Thursday after further testing but with the site running so slowly tonight I thought I may as well get it done!

Some people may have a little wait while there DNS refreshes to the new server IP but I'll post some information on the old site for them if they are still seeing that one!

Please post any issues in the sticky thread at the top of this forum.

It's flying, faster than it has been for ages.

looks like we have a few people still stuck seeing the old server, some internet providers like to cache DNS records for longer than they should but fingers crossed most people should be seeing the forum here shortly!

So far so good, I'm seeing around 20 concurrent Apache processes and the server load is staying very low :)

load average: 0.26, 0.24, 0.26

The old server was hitting loads of 75+! and yes the lower the number the better!

I can get on the site on my phone and it's miles quicker, but on my PC it's saying connection refused?
