New Venue Thursday Nights

Gents/Ladies

From Feb 2016

We will be running a Short Course & Micro night on Thursday's (to start) and everyone is welcome.
I plan to run cars in their own groups ie 2wd & 4wd so we need good numbers.
If there is a call for Vintage or Stadium Trucks that can also be looked into.

The possibility of changing the Day might be looked into depending on numbers.
You can't please everyone all the time sadly but I will do what I can.

Please make your voice heard on here so I can get an idea of the numbers of people interested.

Regards Ian

Will that be the new belt driven EMB micro Jez :woot::woot::thumbs::thumbs:

Justingt5 23-12-2015 07:39 PM

Excited, gonna make my kf2 somewhat surplus to requirements as I can't see the wife being too happy about 2 nights a week and if I alternate it ,rams I'm not properly supporting the short course boys? ??

mattybucks 23-12-2015 10:51 PM

Great can't wait. If I get a vintage can you guarantee that the class won't be dropped for a more popular class at the drop of a hat or will I have to support the venue by running another class.

iang454 24-12-2015 11:18 AM

The main 2WD Buggy Class that Silverstone relies on will be run on Tuesdays as normal.

Thursdays is a bonus for the smaller formulas.

We will TRY and accommodate everyone as best we can.

We already have people asking about vintage racing so I don't think you will be on your own.
However can we guarantee its longevity NO, it will take you guys to turn up week after week to make it happen. That said I don't think we will be stopping formulas for not being here every week

We will not turn people away and if numbers are low per formula we will have to try and sort the racing out on the night.

Anything can be achieved but it needs people to come and support it because with out you guys there is no club/racing.

Regards Ian

ill be trucking

Clarkie 30-12-2015 11:00 PM

I need to get the truck fixed, but we will be there most weeks

iang454 31-12-2015 12:05 AM

I want to try and keep EVERYONE happy :eh?:

Not easy that said we will be racing SC 2WD and SC 4WD separately so 4WD boys get as many people in as possible.

Stadium trucks as well if enough interest but they will NOT be in with SC trucks.

Micro's get the numbers up and vintage the more the merrier.

Happy New Year Everyone

Out if interest mate why can't the Stadiums run with the SC.

iang454 31-12-2015 09:46 AM

The Stadiums are much faster and really deserve their own heat.

I'm just trying to cover all bases as I have heard all the moaning from the past 2 to 3 years and if we don't mix formula's there's nothing to moan about?

I hope :eh?:

Totally agree - stadiums and shortcourse are different beast - stadiums should be far faster.... also, because they are open wheeled, stadium trucks get "entangled" under the bodyshells of shortcourse when the inevitable "rubbing" occurs (......btw not due to bad driving but due to the wider wheelbases!)

Ross 31-12-2015 08:04 PM

Ok cool.

Im only asking as i guess there will be enough for a heat of SC but i don't see there being enough for Stadiums.

We will see :)

I appreciate not all are in my boat but if Fridays are run you will have 2 more micro drivers at least 8/10 weeks, I can't commit 100% purely due to distance.

Hope it can be done I'll keep my fingers crossed

wingers 03-01-2016 08:39 PM

I think there are plans for running something on a Friday/Saturday but it's early days and nothing confirmed yet. Probably buggy, but open to ideas or offers to run the evening...

I had a chat with Matt regarding helping out as much as I could with race control/booking in etc. I can't commit 100% to every week simply due to travel distance but willing to do as much as I can to the best of my ability. Micros or Buggies would be good

noddy 04-01-2016 01:19 PM

Ill be interested in vintage

BenGab 06-01-2016 12:28 PM

If the Friday night is the chosen night, you can rely on 3 Martin 2Wd buggy at least every other Friday's and I would not mind helping run the event.

Arnaud

weejimmy 06-01-2016 01:31 PM

Fridays would work well for us too ... I am happy to help out with Race control when we can make it.

Like Sam it's difficult to commit 100% though as we get pulled in lots of directions due to school, sports etc. The joys of having active kids!

But it sure would be great to see some Friday night racing taking place in the region again. As the posts from Sam, Arnaud and myself show, Friday's work well for the younger RC fans

* PS - not that I am suggesting myself, Arnaud or Sam are 'younger RC fans' you understand! :p

Si2008 06-01-2016 01:42 PM

Another vote for Friday's from me, for what it's worth as a newbie.

THURSDAY NIGHTS

Me and 2 mates have micros and 2 of us have 2wd vintage. We'll be there.

JezT 06-01-2016 02:42 PM

I know I'm getting old and senile...but I'm confused.
Ian started this thread about Trucks and micros on a Thursday.
It now seems to be highjacked to buggies on Friday.........

Can I suggest there be a truck thread (this one) and a buggy thread to save confusion and gauge interest

iang454 06-01-2016 06:01 PM

Hi Jez
You might have got the wrong end of that thread?

Tuesday nights is 2WD (What Silverstone do best) Buggies as usual.

Thursday/Friday depending on which night we end up with will be in the following order:

Short Course
Micro
Stadium/Vintage (2wd-4WD) Buggies.

There will be NO 2WD or 4WD Modern Buggies as they have Tuesdays.

Hope that helps?

And don't forget its all about numbers?

Ian

First line says it all.......LOL :p

Friday night would suit me due to work commitments on Thursday

JezT 06-01-2016 07:21 PM

Before you take the proverbial again....... Post #16, 17, 19, 20 are talking about modern buggies..... :p
It would be a shame to have trucks pushed out before we've even got started.

Can't do Fridays....

iang454 06-01-2016 07:35 PM

OK Jez I see the threads you mean but I don't think multiple modern buggy nights every week is on the cards as it will dilute the racing.

I was asked by Matt to sort out a Thursday night SC and Micros night which will run every week.
Perhaps we will go to Friday's, perhaps we will run ST and Vintage it all depends on numbers.

I'm very happy as I have said before to accommodate as many as poss but whatever we do some people will miss out?

Absolutely.

Likewise it would be great if the new venue might allow those who cant make Tuesdays (or Thursdays!) to get some racing on a child friendly night i.e. Fridays! Seems like a potential win-win to me.

Zippy G 07-01-2016 10:57 AM

Nights?

How about
1 Club night tuesdays 10th off road buggies
2 Trucks, ST & vintage Thursdays
3 Buggies & micro's Fridays, (Midlands raceway do this and it gets fairly busy in both classes)

Just a suggestion.
3 nights a week i'm sure that this will easily cover financial viability issues as well as keep most people happy.
Im sure if the jumps were removable you could even run touring cars on a wednesday which also has a large following.

$$$ KEERRCCHING!!! $$$

I hope you all agree

If not I will happily accept any abuse:woot:

See you all at WS

BenGab 07-01-2016 01:00 PM

I agree with Sam and James. the only reason why we are not going on Tuesday is because of our kids schoolwork.....Yes they are not going to become professional RC car racers, I know their surname is Martin but that is where it stops.

Sam's plan seems sensible to me.

Arnaud

Dear all

All, I apologise, I haven't been on here since February so I'm just catching up on a few things. To be honest I've been asked to take a look and comment.

I'm thrilled that people are so keen to support us in this massive 'next step' adventure for the club, however, we will take everyone's opinions on board and make the best decision possible for the majority and most importantly the club.

Sam, we won't be running most nights, this is something we do for FREE and it already takes up a huge chunk of my life. I do mean a daily chunk already so the fewest times opening required to cover costs is best for all. Everyone is keen to point out what they'd like, yet making it even clearer that THEY can't commit. In my opinion it's best to start with what people can commit to and then add accordingly. People won't remember how great the club and facilities are, they'll just remember that one time they raced home from work, drove for an hour or so just to find the meeting cancelled. This has never happened on my watch and never will!

Jez, trucks will be looked after I promise. I don't want to talk about it anymore, you know I made a tough decision last year for the benefit of the club.

Please get back on topic and I'm sure Ian will keep you all informed and answer questions at his earliest convenience.

Thanks,

Matt Owen

BenGab 07-01-2016 07:08 PM

Matt,

I think I am speaking on behalf of all of us in saying that we truly appreciate your commitment and hard work towards the club and RC car racing in general.

Whatever decision is taken we will first of all respect it and secondly ensure we support you and the club as well as we can.

We all expect the impeccable organisation and superb event quality from Silverstone but fully realise that it is an awful amount of work.

Thanks for everything

Arnaud

noddy 28-01-2016 11:51 AM

hi all,

A big thanks to Matt and comittee for taking this venture on! The pure man hours plus strains on relationships is greatly appreciated and i'm sure will be worth it.

I can commit to Tuesday nights racing modern 2wd buggies and would like to race vintage cars most weeks depending on numbers. Friday would IMO be better to allow for families to go with younsters so it doesn't effect schooling.

Just a suggestion for either Thursday or Friday night whichever is decided, would features and jumps be taken out (not all) to allow for racing purposes?
A vintage car was designed to be ran on low grip conditions with a table top and small jumps in place, i don't know about the trucks but feel with only a few features in would allow for a more racing feel and also to seperate from the modern buggy tracks, a vintage rear motor car struggles to come out of a hairpin then jump where a modern car will do with ease, like i say just a suggestion.

Loving racing again and really looking forward to the new venue and what it brings to this niche hobby

Shaun

iang454 28-01-2016 09:54 PM

I don't want to jump the gun but I think Fridays will be the starting night for the new formulas at Silverstone's new venue. Obviously Tuesday's will remain as the normal Buggies 2WD & 4WD.
I will speak with Mr M.Owen tomorrow night and get something put up on here to clarify everything.

There will be:
Short Course 2WD
Short Course 4WD
Micro's
Vintage
Depending on numbers from above
(Modern 2WD Buggies Ltd No's)

Ian

Justingt5 02-02-2016 09:54 AM

Totally Gutted - I cant do Tuesdays anymore as I stupidly told the wife it was moving to Thursdays and now she is out Tuesdays, and cant do Fridays period. So no Short course or buggy racing for me, and with Soul RC stopping the Wednesday nights I am fresh out of luck for any midweek RC action?

dadger67 02-02-2016 03:50 PM

If you're looking for a place to race try TCRCMC Thursday nights at Roade great club it's not far from Northampton always a great track layout . Come down give it a try ..

Justingt5 02-02-2016 05:21 PM

Ah yes, forgot about that place. Do you run SC every week or just on certain dates? I have a buggy aswell so can still get a fix?

Zippy G 02-02-2016 06:01 PM

When is this starting
