Support your UK hobby store that's what I say! :)
Hey we can all buy things where we want but it's great to have healthy UK shop scene or else we all suffer - no spares etc. |

I was just excited to get one, no need to jump down my throat (I did edit some info out of my post, thanks for pointing that out). Not expecting any issues with this kit...its not Associated lol.
|
On another note, has anyone developed any setups yet for bumpy astro?

Nice to have you on board Fivepointnine!
I got my first PR kits from the USA too, but am delighted that Kev at Inside Line is now importing and marketing these fantastic cars! The quality is astonishing! I've run mine for over a year now, but never on bumpy astro. Also, mine are the PRS1 V2 and a PRSB401. So, as of yet we have no setup info for the PRS1V3 cars. You won't have long to wait though as they will be hitting the tracks in inreasing numbers over the next few weeks. Keep your eye on this forum and the PR Racing Facebook page for setup and build hints and tips! Jimmy |
I'm going to start pretty much with the kit setup with the change being 25wt oil in the rear and 30wt in the front,i have made up a couple of weights that will sit behind the motor
I'm going to give it a run tomorrow just to get a feel for the car then go from there from what i find |

kit 2 hole pistons, those are the oils i start with on my mid motor cars in low grip, they might be light but until the cars are out on track it's trial and error at the minute

Stotfold is bumpy astro and my home track too so I'll be on the case very soon for both the PRS1V3 and the PRSB401. I will no doubt post in the Facebook PR group soon enough! |
There will be couple of these out and about tomorrow:-
Feel free to pop over Kev |

Jason will be at Kidderminster, I'm sure he wouldn't mind showing off his v3! |
I will have mine at Kidderminster tomorrow, feel free to come over and take a look

Borrowed one tonight for my 3rd run of the night. Not sure on setup but it was running a geared diff, but thought the car was really good on medium grip carpet.
Had not run the car before, a different handset from the one I normally use and went 2 seconds faster over a 4 minute run than I had done in my previous 2 runs with my B5M which I have been running at the same club for 2 years. Comparable runs and was 0.2 of a second quicker per lap. This will be in part due to someone with a lot more skill than me doing the setup but the car felt planted and easy to drive quickly. |
Good to hear!
This seems to be the story we're hearing from tracks all over the place. These cars have been active in Asia and the USA for a couple of years and their reputation is growing and growing. Jimmy |
What about option parts? Noticed the front brace was plastic and are their weight kits available for it?
|
The front hinge pin brace is alloy,it's the bumper over the top of it that makes it look plastic, with the car being so new weight kits and what's best to use is something that will be worked on i'm sure,i have already made a selection of weights to try on mine,as for option parts i'm fairly sure Kev at inside line has them listed on his website but the car comes with most parts you would upgrade already alloy in the kit, rear hubs, hexes, centre steering arm, hinge pin brace, rear wishbone hangers all come as standard in the kit
|
i hear that the brass batery stopper from revolution design for durango is a direckt fit.
|
Wee sneaky peak at Kev Lee's PRS1-V3.

Ran the car today for the 1st time on home track, medium grip carpet. Had a little help with the setup, soften the front springs and the car felt far better than I had expected. Loads of rear traction on worn mini pin2s and loads of steering. Pretty much kit setup with associated springs and 5000wt oil in the gear diff. Only beaten by a 4wd, 2 F1 drivers and and F2 driver so happy with the result (I'm a F4). Looking forward to the new year and trying on a few other tracks. |

More set ups will become available as the car establishes itself. |

Drove my v3 for the first time yesterday at Broxtowe's Christmas cracker meeting. I've driven a lot of different cars over the years but this one is the most impressive of the lot, nothing I did on track seemed to phase it and I was in front of drivers who were consistently beating me last season. It coped with grippy, slippy and bumpy sections with confidence

I have seen one locally for a great price and was thinking about testing one, SO
Are there any upgrades that are a must have? I have seen the alu idle gears, I really don't want to have to replace the stock ones straight away. Spares? The usual? arms hubs hingepins? Anything else? Ill be using the stock springs or I have a set of AE ones as well. Med High with slicks and addative? Not minipin grip |

The usual spares as with most cars but v3 like the other PR cars are looking pretty bulletproof Personally i'm not keen on the kit springs and i use associated springs so you will be fine with using them. |
Thanks Jason,
Gear diff as standard? Alu bulkhead or plastic? |
Gear diff is std in the kit, there is a ball diff option, bulkhead is plastic in the kit but there is also an alloy option available,as of yet i can't see any reason to change either.

Ran my v3 for the first time yesterday at silverstone winter series.Car felt really good it had a little to much initial steering and lacked on power steering so i went over to speek to the Team who all looked at the car then added some bump steer washers i went back out on track gained 4 tenths of a sec and it was easier to drive.right where i wanted it to be. Big thanks to Kev Paul and Dave for there help very helpful team.:)
