worksop

Hi I don't know if there is a thread on here already, but if you don't know, worksop is starting up again, indoors.

the meetings are
7th jan
11th feb
18th march

If you go to http://www.scmodels.co.uk/racing.html some details are on there.
Go to their contact page and give them a ring for more details.

Tc's and buggies. It's in the same hall as last time.

Stu 12-12-2006 05:27 PM

Meetings 1 & 2 clash with NE region* meetings, the date for round 3 seems free, the week before the indoor finals.

* not that I'm suggesting this is a northern only forum.

barnyard 12-12-2006 07:16 PM

looking at the dates i thought only the 2nd meeting clashed.

the regional in jan is the 21st at york, but feb 11th is teeside and does clash

Stu 12-12-2006 07:43 PM

Jan 7th is the Mike Lenard meeting.

barnyard 12-12-2006 08:27 PM

ahhh makes sense now was only lookin at the regionals.

still goin to worksop its only 20 min down the road for me

i just hope they do the name justice thay have a lot to live up to and a lot of the old school drivers are dusting off or borrowing cars for the day

telboy 27-12-2006 10:36 PM

who's coming over then for a laugh?

Col 27-12-2006 11:20 PM

Says on the site that booking forms will be made available. Does this still apply, or can we just turn up on the day?

telboy 27-12-2006 11:39 PM

I think you can turn up on the day, but i'd give them a call first just to make sure.

PaulRotheram 27-12-2006 11:41 PM

im considering going.. but to be honest ive no idea what the track is about.. theres no pics as the track is only just re opening also.

barnyard 28-12-2006 12:41 AM

the venue is the same as we ran at in the 90's if someone has an old copy of radio race car or racer that has coverage of the regional finals or indoor championships there will be photos. Sadly i chucked all my old magazines a few years ago.

The track itself is a ruberised cork floor (similar to some outdoor running tracks) it has little grip at the start but once the dust has cleared its great.

Tire choice is easy yellow mini pins, spikes could be used but will always be slower

matdodd 02-01-2007 12:14 AM

PaulRotheram 03-01-2007 10:02 PM

I shall be at this meeting, 4wd for me, cant wait!

Spencer Mulcahy 03-01-2007 10:52 PM

Just glueing my tyres on now cant wait not raced for six weeks. First outing for the XX4 as well.:D

PaulRotheram 04-01-2007 01:03 PM

Seems Jimmy Maddison will be doing 4wd, either thats a mistake or the onroad boys have all seen the light!!

jimmy 04-01-2007 01:53 PM

crazy
Will Skelding be running the new Hot Bodies car, or won't he? Come on Adam, spill - you promised to be running it at some indoor events!

jimmy 04-01-2007 02:01 PM

Andy moore x adam skelding = new HB car ? :D

Spencer Mulcahy 04-01-2007 02:16 PM

Are you going Jimmy got new shell today for my 4wd would love some picks of it.:)

jimmy 04-01-2007 02:23 PM

Don't think so, I need some stuff before I can run the new Tamiya (just wire / connectors and tyres etc) so I will have to miss it as I wont have them in time.

Spencer Mulcahy 04-01-2007 03:28 PM

Thats a shame looks like it is going to be a good one, with TCs and buggys at the same event.

jimmy 04-01-2007 03:31 PM

I should have got the bits I needed sooner really, but I forgot! I can take photos of the 501X with old tyres on - but it's not really the done thing!

Northy 04-01-2007 03:59 PM

Jimmy, are you racing team vintage endurance? Are you racing vintage on saturday night?

G

jimmy 04-01-2007 04:00 PM

I think we are going saturday night but not sunday

Stu 04-01-2007 05:02 PM

:(

Have you done the Li-Po review yet?

I suspect you can guess what I'm after!

See ya Saturday.

matdodd 04-01-2007 09:18 PM

Is there an entry list for sunday anywhere?
I emailed the addy Nick posted to bookin but go no confirmation :(

PaulRotheram 04-01-2007 09:46 PM

go on rcracechat mate, go to their forum and theres a list there :)

telboy 07-01-2007 11:20 PM

Well, after a bad start with power cuts and a lot more people booking in on the day than expected, it went reasonably well once things got going, all be it a bit late.

The track was a bit tight (a bit like a t.c. 'club' track more than an off road/on road split track) but the jumps were challenging :o and a little querky. Not sure what the 'drop off' jump was all about, would've been better with a up-down table top realy.

It was funny though to here the off roaders getting a 'little' stressed with the slow and unenthusiastic touring car marshalls that aren't used to having to move so much when marshalling.:D

I was Taking pictures all day but the hall was so damn dark it was to much for the fuji to take :( even on the settings jimmy told me. I will put some on here that came out 'reasonably' well ( no where near jimmy's standard though)

jimmy spenncers car was so hot looking a thought i saw it smoking once or twice lol sorry spenc:confused:

Spencer Mulcahy 08-01-2007 11:33 AM

All sorted now Carl realy thought it was my speedo. Was panicking about my new shell as well, the track was disapointing being so tight but we all have to race on whatever is put in front of you. PS Loved the XX4 when it wasnt smoking just a few nigles to sort and it will be fantastic.

bigred5765 08-01-2007 03:18 PM

lol SMOKING
loved the track, even old bald tyres work

Lee 08-01-2007 03:25 PM

What was the issue in the car park?;)

bigred5765 08-01-2007 03:32 PM

some chavs broke the window of a car and robbed a sat nav,

Col 08-01-2007 04:55 PM

I don't know about others that made the long (ish) haul to worksop, but I was dissapointed. But first the good points: the track (especially the surface) was superb, even the wierd "features" were nice purely because they were different. The venue was good (after the power was sorted out) and the lasses in the bar calling everyone "duck" and bread buns and sandwiches "cobs" always had a smile. However, the bad points: we did pre-book via the e-mail posted earlier in this thread and 2 of the 3 failed to get pre-booked so we had to pay the stupidly expensive £10 rather than £7 to race. So after that was sorted, we filled our details in on bits of paper and the heat listings went up, only for us to be missed off again!!

4 long hours after the doors opened, the racing manged to get under way ( but not before untested transponder issues, incorrect starting lines and other totally forseeable problems held us back) and we were told that it would be 2 rounds and a final for £10!! Not overly impressed at all! Still, fair play the the guys running the meet - once it was under way, things improved alot and 3 rounds and a final were ran with me making 9th in the A and crashing out on the first lap!!

All said and done, I did enjoy the day alot but it should have been so much better!
