Hi all,
|
Wow 2 years, Looking forward to this :)
Just so you know RPM still have the motor covers but you can't order them on line apparently you have to email them and pay by money order or something like that. Some sort of tax fiddle I think but a few people have had them recently I think there like $10 each. |
Hi J,
The white RPM gear cover has been re-released for the Worlds and Classic. |
Here's the email I had back for part number ASC6311

So I just removed the cover. To my surprise its brand spanking :o Click to enlarge pics... |
RC10 RPM GEAR COVERS NEW & OLD
Just to show you the differences between the Original RPM gear cover and the new re-release.
|
I am going to totally strip what is built on the RC10 Graphite and rebuild. This will include gearbox, diff etc.... with full rebuild pictures along the way.
I am starting tonight so more to come tomorrow...... |
You always seem to land on your feet  looks good buddy. How did you get on with the shocks?
|
Shocks
Just waiting on reply J,
BIG FAT FINGERS CROSSED.:) Well have stripped it down tonight all of it is original. I stripped the slipper and gearbox down and all is brand new and original. Teflon sealed bearings. 1st Edition Red slipper pad. Layshaft Idler Felt between gearbox and motorplate all new. I have washed, cleaned and polished all of it and the chassis is gleaming.I will post pictures tomorrow and THE REBUILD WILL BEGIN !!!!! |
Forgot to mention.
Im after the 2 nylon nuts for the servo saver and arm. I have got a new white plastic servo saver kit but no nuts are in there. Its just the standard servo kit that comes as standard in the kit. If anyone has 2 they would sell or know the part number that would be great. Thank you. |
6282, if it's the 8-32 nylon nuts, they are still available.
|
Servo Saver nylon nuts.
JMMN,
Thanks matey really appreciate that. Thank you. |
RC10 Graphite.
Ok,
Last night I stripped and washed all parts. I have come to a decision on the RC10 and what to go for. I will be fitting a Black Motor Plate rather than the GOLD. I will be fitting Black graphite Front and Rear towers. I was considering the fibre glass but want to keep it black and white and the graphite are a option. They are just plain not carbon pattern. I am now posting pictures of it so far......... |
Had a graphite stealth back in the day , loved it .
|
RC10 GRAPHITE UPDATES !!!!
So all parts cleaned ready for install. I was lucky enough to find a complete front end.
White wishbones, front hangers, front casters, front spindles, axles and hinge pins. Once stripped and cleaned have came up like new with no marks. I fitted new ballstuds,nuts,E-clips, new graphite black tower, white shock bushings and foamy things. Note the first Edition red slipper, new and never used.:woot: Diff showing driveshaft stopper washers installed. RC10 Graphite.
I was sorting out my new screws ready for the build and noticed there are 3 different styles of the same screw.
Here are the 3 differences from the dark green re-release screws to the light gold original and noticed that the other screw has a single raised dot next to the cross. The first screw has the raised dot at approx 11.00 o'clock on a clock.. Sorry for poor picture. Click to enlarge...... |
Fitting to the Graphite Chassis
So I started the rebuild today. Following the manual its starts at the front of the Graphite. I was going with 3 washers under the post but will start with 2 until I have painted the body shell. So this is start..........
Looking good Mark, so your painting this shell then? Does that mean your going to keep it!!!!
|

RC10 Graphite.
hahahahahaha,
I waiting on other bits from America and France so could be at a stand still soon:wub Think the hardest parts Im stuggling to get is the 2 white nylon 8-32 nuts for the steering/servo saver cant find them anywhere :( Just had the Rear drive shafts turn up though :D:D:D |
RC10 Graphite.
I have managed to do a little more to the Graphite today. New battery holder, servo mounts fitted and also a bonus fined of a brand new original RC10 aerial tube YEAH BABY !!!!! :D:D
I will be starting the best gear box ever made tomorrow.... The Stealth Gear Box...... Still by today's standards this gear box in my opinion is the best ever made. Diff is second to none and the box can still handle the power of a 7.5. 25 yrs old WOW !!!!! Click to enlarge.... |
So parts I am waiting for are as follows,
1980s Lunsford Ti 7s Turnbuckle set. Associated Shocks Front and Rear Teflon Coated. Rear flanged Bearings. Front Wheels. And I still cant find 2 8-32 white blasted NUTS !!!!!!!!!:yawn: |
What front wheels do you need buddy? And I'll see what I can do about the nuts oooo errrrr 😉
|
Hi J,
All sorted for wheels matey. Im waiting on the above to turn up. Its just those blasted white 8-32s X2 of for the servo saver and steering:lol::lol:. |
I'm no good with imperial sizes but welshy has a pack of 4 40 if they might do?
|
4-40 are for the front wheels and shock nuts. :( 8-32 are basically the imperial size for 4mm metric......
